Pastor Rick Warren Laments Deification of Obama: ‘Blasphemy’ & ‘Sent Shivers Up My Spine’
Rick Warren, the well-known author and pastor of the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, has some major concerns surrounding what he views as a deification of President Barack Obama. Specifically commenting on actor Jamie Foxx calling Obama “our Lord and savior,” Warren said that these acts of building the president up to be a God-like figure constitute “blasphemy.”
“That sent shivers up my spine,” Warren said of Foxx’s comment. “There’s a word for that – it’s called blasphemy. It’s wrong.”
While some may dismiss the Foxx clip as an anomaly — or a joke, even — numerous examples of the deification of Obama have unfolded of late. A controversial painting by artist Michael D’Antuono depicts the president being crucified. And, near the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, earlier this year, there were pieces of artwork being sold that also seemingly likened Obama to Christ. These are only two examples.

Pastor Rick Warren (Photo Credit: AP)
The deification of any idol, according to the faith leader, is inappropriate. Warren explained that such actions are explicitly forbidden by the first two commandments (i.e. Ten Commandments).
“Think about all the promises that were made four years ago. None of them were fulfilled,” said the preacher, who typically avoids partisan statements.
Among those pledges, Warren pinpointed Obama’s 2008 promise to bring the nation together, while simultaneously bringing about “hope” and “change.”
“It’s more divided now than it’s ever been. That’s disappointing,” he continued. “Any human leader — conservative or liberal — is going to disappoint you at some point.”
Warren went on to encourage individuals to put their faith in “things that never change.” Rather than relying upon politicians like Obama, he clearly meant that human beings should place their reliance upon a higher power.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 8:53pmWhat is “The Gospel”? Before you answer let me tell you a little story:
Christ sent the disciples out preaching “the gospel.”When they returned they said the people wanted to know who He was. Jesus asked who they (the people) thought He was. Some said, Elijah, John the Baptist or even “that prophet.” Jesus asked the disciples who they thought He was and Peter said “Thou art the Christ.” Jesus said “No man has told you this but my Father in heaven.” Then He charged them that they tell no man.
What did you say “the Gospel” is?

Shocking evidence that the Marxist, Jewish neo-con controlled Council on Foreign Relations has recruited top evangelicals Pastor Rick Warren, Southern Baptist leader Richard Land, and others in its seedy campaign to foster a globalist religion devoid of any New Testament spirituality. Rick Warren’s Purpose-Driven Movement, borrowed right out of the pages of Lucis Trust and New Age organizing manuals and textbooks, is designed to totally rip the heart out of true Biblical Christianity. The whole planet is now being groomed for a diverse, new faith, based on the sacredness of all religions, the despoiling of Christianity, individual greed, environmental insanity, and sensual partying and celebration. Babylonian hedonism and sodomy are going to be enthroned in a diabolical orgy of religious ecstasy, all orchestrated by the Illuminati. -Pastor Texe Mars

The Founders got inspiration for the Constitution by the Black Robe Regiment biblical preaching – what you they get if they were crafting it today based on the seeker friendly purpose driven church we don’t want to offend anybody preaching? Whether Warren knows it or not he is part of the problem – not calling sin – sin and not calling people to repentence, removing the symbol of Yahushuah’s triumph the cross and taking the Blood out of the Message.
Its all part of an agenda where people like Rick Warren are useful idiots in the dumbing down and corrupting of America.

I don’t always agree with him but Pastor Rick has been pretty clear as to where he stands on the 2012 election. As for the user-friendly teaching, it’s Exodus 32 and the account of Aaron making a golden calf for the people of Israel to worship all over again. He did not make a false god but said this is “Elohim”. In other words, it was a diminished concept of the true God born out of time in the world (Egypt). But Aaron did it for the same reason preachers are giving watered down messages today; the people demand it! It’s the doctrine of itching ears. Christians don’t want the hard truths of Christianity, such as; death to self, the crucified life, suffering for righteousness and self denial. It’s simply the law of supply and demand.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 8:29pmto REVRON EZk 34 is instructive to those that think preaching should go down easy and not challenge. Also “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Heb 5v14. Without the UNCOMPROMISED Word one can’t even discern good from evil. Would that we went back to John Edwards preaching “Sinners in the hands of an Angry God” Yes Yah is Love, but His Wrath is as perfect as His Love. There is Grace but as it says in Romans since there is grace should we sin more that grace my about more. God Forbid. I am stunned that those that call themselves Christians have to be admonished that vampire movies which mock the Blood of Yahushuah are evil. It should be this simple; does the thing I do, watch, listen to, wear or say or whatever bring glory to my Lord and Master and Savior for if we are Christians we are not our own we are bought with a price and He says why do you call me Lord and then not do as I say.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 4:27pmWhat sent shivers up and down my spine was the Democratic National Convention, where a group of “Americans” voiced their displeasure for having God in their platform and rejecting Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. That was alarming.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 2:51pmSomeone made the best point in another article today:
If Obama were truly a Christian then he should be first in line condemning people trying to deify him. As a Christian this should be the most insulting thing one could do; making Christ as small as a mere man.
Where are you on this Barrack? Why have you not spoken out against this? Your silence on this speaks more than you could ever know!

Not saying you are right or wrong, but what does that have to do with anything? The article is on Warren’s stance on the deification of Obama. I do happen to agree with him on this one.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 3:08pmNot saying you don’t have a point, but is it relevant here? Why open a can of worms that will only pit Christian against Christian? (Note I am not commentating on who is saved and who is not, that is not my realm, it is for Christ alone). We have enough problems without the theological bickering. Besides, that is not showing the Christian love that Christ wants. You are not correcting anyone’s error here, you are trying to incite argument. That is not The Way.

Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
I can rebuke the fables catholics. It’s written the Bible.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 3:58pmAgain, is it relevant HERE? Or…Are you on a crusade against Catholics? It is one thing to have a doctrinal discussion when warranted, it is quite another to bash someone else’s theology…even if you are correct. If your purpose is to correct their heresy then you need to first command their respect and attention. Much like Paul did on Mars Hill.
If your purpose is to prove them wrong and yourself right then you should pray about that. Are you walking with God on this?

Though I believe we should liken the scriptures to ourselves, it must be realized that this letter to Timothy was written to him, not to me.
Therefore, even though some of the doctrine has use to me, some of it is specific instruction to Timothy who was called to set the Church in order.
I err on the side of letting the leaders of the church deal with discipline and maintaining structure regarding members (I have enough of my own corrections to make), and try to use patience and long-suffering, kindness and meekness when trying to deal with others.
I am not rebuking you, just letting you know how I interpret them.

Is it not blasphemy to call a man, the father”? Yes it is blasphemy., Jesus and the disciples want us learn the truth. Not lies. If you want to carry on the fables ways? That’s you. But I know fables catholics, very well. They do not clean up their filth or their false teaching. I can rebuke them to prove the truth in the Bible. That’s why……

The fables catholics teaches you to worship false idols of Jesus and Mary or call the catholic priests “the father” Also, they teach you about burning forever in pain. ha ha That’s the biggest lie. I ever heard. You want to know? What happens to you….When you die? Read Ecc 9:5. You rest in your graves. Until Jesus comes or Judgement comes.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 3:16pmCorrection: Inauguration of 2009. You can search for a link to “Rick Warren’s Inauguration Prayer in 2009 to get the full text.
One link wrote:
Rick Warren’s use of the name “Isa” the false Jesus of Islam, was a glaring slap in the face to all that he had already prayed. “Isa” in no way represents the Jesus of the Bible but instead the false Jesus of the Qur’an (Koran) and the Muslim Hadith.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 3:28pmFound it, read it thanks. Aside from the Isa mention, I noticed this: “Give to our new President, Barack Obama, the wisdom to lead us with humility, the courage to lead us with integrity, the compassion to lead us with generosity.” I guess the answer to that was NO!

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 3:51pmGONZO, the Lord knows the hearts and minds of men. As my post below under NHWINTER says, the standing of a nation in the eyes of the Lord is determined by how its leaders lead. We read of this throughout the Old Testament. It is no wonder why this nation is falling like Babylon.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 3:11pmIt’s not a matter of “being dumb”! Rather it’s a matter of propriety!
Some of us remember when people had class, culture, self-pride and understood that “shock talk” really didn’t do them or anyone else any favors. Those who understood these things were not necessarily the most educated, the richest or the oldest. Rather they were those of us who had some pride in our selves and RESPECT for others!
My God can handle Himself, and I KNOW that He will. I do hope for Mr. Foxx will remember this (which I am sure he learned at his mother’s or grandmother’s knee). And for him, I hope he remembers BEFORE it’s too late.
Don’t believe as I do, no loss to you–unless I’m right!

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 2:42pmIt is past time for Christians and Conservatives to speak up loudly about all that is happening. I’ve had enough of the progressives yelling and screaming racism, holding Obama up as their messiah, asking for the rich to pay their fair share, atheist whining about Christmas or the Bible, using our money to do their dirty work. I know the Lord said to turn the other cheek, but we are letting them ruin our country with our silence. We are the majority and its time we acted like it and demanded all the stop. They get what they want because they are so vocal. Its time we get vocal, and loudly vocal.

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 2:50pmHave you noticed how the proclaimed Christian has yet to denounce those who blaspheme the Lord? He wallows in their raising him up to be the messiah. In the words of the author of The Harbinger, Jonathan Cahn regarding the election:
“The leader of a nation can make a big difference,” said Cahn. “When you look at Israel, when you had an immoral king, it led the nation into immorality. When you had a righteous king, it led the nation into revival. It’s not dependent just on the leader. But what the president does, what the Congress does – the laws affect everyone. It affects the preaching of the Gospel, the teaching of the young and the next generation – all of this. What just happened is significant. America made a choice. It was a sign of a turn against the ways of God.”

Posted on November 28, 2012 at 2:52pmYeah, Christians need to speak out against a B actor! This “messiah” b.s. is manufactured and perpetuated by people like hannity, beck, and limbaugh. They’re the only ones talking about it. Well, them and a handful of brain dead folks on the street. Not really enough to be considered a problem. Except by bored talk radio hosts and their desperate followers, I guess.
