The 193 members of the U.N. General Assembly will vote whether or not to upgrade the status of Palestine from an observer entity to a non-voting observer state Thursday. The vote would effectively recognize statehood for Palestine across the international community. The vast majority of nations in the General Assembly are expected to be voting ‘yes,’ and there is no veto. The only certain ‘no’ votes thus far will come from the U.S., Israel and Germany, and the Palestinian Authority is expected to get strong support from Europe, including a likely yes vote from Great Britain.
The vote comes just over a week after the violent Gaza conflict with Israel came to a ceasefire, the same month as the U.S. presidential election and a little over a month before Israeli elections. The U.N. thinks (collectively) the vote will facilitate a two state solution, but with tensions still on high, could it instead lead to more instability in the region and further jeopardize Israeli safety? Watch the “Real News” panel discuss the upcoming vote:

Nov. 28, 2012 at 8:39pmI believe the Lord is saying “bring it”, and it will not be long before the real fireworks begin. Hamas is rearming, arms from Benghazi have been shipped to Syria with the help of the liar-in-chief and his stooge clinton, and morsi has given himself the power to engage Egypt into anything he desires including war against Israel. While the world economy is upside down ready to go over the cliff, all the nations seem focused hating on Israel. Everything seems to be coming together as outlined in the Bible. Blessings be on Israel as the Almighty’s righteous right arm protects you.

Nov. 28, 2012 at 8:36pmits non member observer status. they don’t become a country and they don’t get their own borders and the borders of israel do not change. what’s the big deal. statehood would be vetoed by the USA (as israel controls them) in any real vote. don’t get your panties in a bunch.

Nov. 28, 2012 at 9:54pmThey already are a non-member observer. The vote is to recognize them as a non-member state, complete with a recognized capital and possibly borders as well. What you expressed is the current reality not the future they are seeking to create.

Why the, “and Israel?” Israel is not us. Israel is not America. Israel is a thorn in America’s side.

By that reasoning, we are under no obligation, moral or otherwise, to provide aid to anyone. We needn’t have assisted Japan after the disaster there, nor was it necessary to assist Haiti after the earthquake there. You have revealed that you not only see Federal aid as wrong (a viewpoint that is at least within reason) but see anyone who even privately supports Israel as a traitor. Fortunately, most Americans are willing to help those in other countries who need it and the same can be said of Israel.

Nov. 28, 2012 at 8:40pmCDN The subhumans target Israeli civilians, Israel goes out of it’s way to avoid civilians, too far out of the way in my opinion. These small skirmishes broken up by a cease fire is cruel to both sides and it’s much more humane if Israel killed all their enemies and finish them off.

Nov. 28, 2012 at 9:04pm@JP4:
That is something I have been expecting for some time, he will side with the UN after a vote to make a Palestinian state and actively use US Forces to make sure it happens and he will become a liberator while further bleeding our depleted forces white.
A few months after Obama’s first election victory I stumbled across an article declaring how US Forces would invade Israel and liberate the Palestinian lands. I have repeatedly tried to find the article again, so I cannot vouch to its authenticity yea or nay.
The thing is, given the way Obama did Libya under the table and w/o Congress approval, watch the ArmyNewTimes and AirForceTimes sites for first mention of it. That is how I learned of Libya rebels being supported by our and British forces to bring Quaddafi down.
