White House Now Says Romney Was ‘Obviously a Successful Businessman’

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Wednesday praised former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s “successful” business record.

“He was obviously a successful businessman, and I’m sure has some ideas that I’m sure the president will find helpful,” said Carney.

Carney’s remarks came after he was asked during Wednesday’s press briefing about a private lunch between President Obama and Romney scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The White House spokesman explained that the president “expressed interest” in having Romney at the White House, presumably to hear some of his business/economic ideas:

“It will be a substantial lunch, if not on the plate, then in discussion,” he joked.

Carney continued, noting the president’s interest in a “variety of issues including … making the federal government more efficient.”

Final Thought: While we don’t disagree with Carney’s characterization of Romney as a successful businessman, we can’t help but feel a little confused.

Didn’t the Obama campaign spend all year accusing the former governor of engaging in vulture capitalism, of massive outsourcing, of not understanding “economic reality,” of bankrupting middle-class families and communities, and of killing a guy’s wife with cancer?

Now Romney’s a “successful” businessman whose ideas are worth hearing?

It is a great question, of course you won’t get a real answer, the question is rhetorical.

The fact that they can’t or won’t answer legitimately is the answer…

Collectivism and its variant labels is economic, physical and psychological slavery and exploitation of all but the privileged elites and it always fails. History proves this, reason and logic shows this… you need to be irrational and ignorant to believe in collectivism.. an ideologue

Maybe not everyone has seen this yet, or maybe the Progs are cynical that anyone here will give them a fair and balanced consideration. It will be interesting to see how many UK foreigners post here, they always seem ready to blather on. But BHO-hg-2-g at least invites honest debate. That’s unusual here.

I think people voted for Obama because he is cool. He plays golf and hoops and is knows a lot about sports and pop culture. He is also a closet smoker. In other words, he is an ‘everyday man’ that appeals to the masses. I don’t think anybody voted for him for his stance on the issues, as he has no stance and had no platform to run on. The country voted for the ‘prom king’ jock instead of the clean cut nerd. This is the direction society is going. We put value in flashy, shiny things we don’t need, to put a temporary bandage on our own vanity.

Honestly, though, I think Gov. Romney is too good a man to let his personal judgement get in the way of the betterment of this country. If it were me, I would definitely want to tell Obama to figure things out on his own rather than taking credit for my ideas.

The truth is that this is one of their tactics. Slam your opponent’s ideas only to claim credit for them later on. Who signed the Civil Rights Act? Lyndon B. Johnson. Who presented the act in the first place? Dwight D. Eisenhower. Who shot Eisenhower’s plan down? Speaker of the House Lyndon B. Johnson.

Socialism works great until you run out of OTHER people’s money!! Obama’s policies are quickly strangling the national economy. As the decent-paying ($15./hr +) jobs continue to evaporate, buying will slow (e.g.- electronics, cars, homes, etc.) and the GDP will continue to fall. People will max out their “credit” while credit companies simultaneously tighten their lending requirements. By the end of Obama’s 2nd term, America will wish it were Greece……..

There is a theory that one phase of politics ends and another begins when the hard-fought election is over; so it is rather normal to expect that grown adults can bury the hatchet and govern together. In fact, Delaware politicians started the literal hatchet burial ritual hundreds of years ago.
