‘The Government Shouldn’t Have Let Him Have Kids’: Disturbing Possible Motives for Man Who Killed Father With Bow & Arrow Emerge

(TheBlaze/AP) — A man who police say killed his father, a woman and himself in Wyoming on Friday told a neighbor in Connecticut weeks before the killings that he believed his father gave him Asperger’s syndrome and said his dad should be “castrated” to prevent him from having more children.

Neighbor Matt DiPinto of Vernon, Conn., told local reporters that Christopher Krumm made the comments while giving him a ride home a few weeks ago.

“He’s like, `So my dad gave me Asperger’s … and my dad should have never had any kids. He should have never had me and passed it on to me, and the government shouldn’t have let him have kids,’” DiPinto told Fox affiliate WTIC-TV. “It was just out of nowhere … but he seemed pretty livid about it.”

Police in Casper, Wyo., say Krumm shot an arrow into the head of his father, James Krumm, with a high-powered bow Friday while his father was teaching a computer science class at Casper College.

James Krumm, 56, managed to wrestle with his 25-year-old son and gave time for about six students to flee, an act police called heroic. Authorities say both men died after Christopher Krumm stabbed himself and then his father. Before the classroom attack, police say Christopher Krumm fatally stabbed his father’s live-in girlfriend, Heidi Arnold, 42, at the home she shared with James Krumm about two miles from campus.

The motive for the attack isn’t clear.

Vernon police searched Christopher Krumm’s apartment on Friday night. Officers didn’t disclose what they found, but said any items of interest would be turned over to investigators in Wyoming.

Neighbors say Christopher Krumm moved into the apartment building last summer and appeared to work in construction or for a utility, because he wore a neon safety vest, The Hartford Courant reported. They say he was quiet and appeared to be anti-social.

The killings stunned people in the apartment building.

“It’s so insane,” said Kim Warren, another of Christopher Krumm’s neighbors. “You never would have guessed he would have done something like that.”

Mickie Goodro, of Twin Falls, Idaho, a friend of James Krumm and Arnold, told the Casper Star-Tribune that Christopher Krumm was in her Calculus class when she taught at Casper College. Krumm graduated from Natrona County High School in Casper in 2005 and studied electrical engineering at Colorado School of Mines, the newspaper reported.

Christopher Krumm’s previous addresses include one in the western Massachusetts city of Springfield and others in the Colorado cities of Golden, Fort Collins and Lakewood.

In the four stories I read about this the only descriptor of the bow offered was this one above: “High powered”. None mentioned compound, recurve, or crossbow. Certainly not a Yumi or a horseman’s bow. Most Compounds are about 50#, some go to 75#, I’m sure higher poundages are available, my main recurve is 90#. Crossbows were rendered useless in combat by the longbow (a recurve type) of around 110#. Because the crossbow is the slowest to reload (except of course thee Chinese repeating crossbow, but in came in at a paltry 25#) it would have allowed for and one with a sack to disarm the Krumm fella. Listening to speculation on this thread about the weapon reminds me of Bob Costatas: Going off about something he has no knowledge of

  Plus you get your Strength damage with a Longbow, where a crossbow bolt only allows for 1D8 damage at the max unless it has magic properties

I am truly confused. I thought this was a story about a double murder suicide. Where is the mention of guns? This possibly cannot happen without a gun. Did the blaze writers get confused and used the word ‘knife’ instead of gun?

If the motive was the passing along of Asperger syndrome that is some true irony… Asperger victims are typically extremely clumsy and uncoordinated… yet this guy was able to shoot his father in the head with a bow from across the classroom. That takes more than a fair amount of coordination….

  Not with a “high powered bow” aka “Cross Bow”. They are the only bow that can be shot from waste high, are very accurate and are silent. They are the only bow that can be shot from inside a vehicle. They have been trying to make them legal for deer hunting in our state during regular bow season but it has been voted down everytime so far thank God.

  As primary school kids we would take stick & sharpen them against the curb. Convicts do the same think with just about everything. Impromptu knives are just too easy to manufacture. Even a caveman could do it. Not so sure about a liberal, moderate or troll though!
  
  Too many things can be used as clubs to be banned. People need to be socialized properly. Like Thomas Sowell said Every new generation born are barbarians that need to be socialized.

  The same on 9/11 when the passengers watched as a stewardess gets her throat slashed and did nothing, not even to save themselves. And on some program that pranks people getting them scared and a guy hacks through a door with an ax but the person pranked doesn’t do anything, no action. If the progs get there way, they will use stuff like this to genetically screen people in the future. Eugenics is a part of the progressive movement to make a more “Perfect Society” Weeding out those nasty genes and all, along with thoughts. If your familiar with “Firefly” there ya go.   You are way behind in your concerns, in the 1920 Eugenics was a common practice in Calf. and several states. Blacks in particular were sterilized for being in violation of infractions such as “shiftlessness, lazyness, cronic unemployment, etc.

  Everyone has several defects of one sort or another, some more & some less. The whole is deal that the government should not have let my parents shave kids is a scary thought.
  
  It seems to me that the son had a failure to launch & his father (?) was moving on with his life & not (?) paying him any attention. So the son took it out on his father & the person who was keeping his father from him.

The dad was shot in the head with a cross bow and was able to wrestle his son so six students could flee, and inspite of being shot in the head he wasn’t dead and so the son stabbed his dad AFTER he [fatally] stabbed himself ? Huh?

  Stabbing is not always instantly lethal. The son probably died fm exsanguination over a short time, but long enough to deal a final blow to his father. It was a very bloody affair in the end.

  It was a compound bow, not a crossbow. A compound bow does kick it up a notch by using a series of pulleys to up the velocity. The crossbow is even more powerful
  
  Asperger’s folks are not antisocial. We just have a really hard time expressing our emotions appropriately. As a result, we get frustrated and act out on that anger. It does not mean we have no feelings for others, as with anti-social personality disordered persons. With a great deal of effort by parents and patients, we can learn how to behave more “normally.” There is a sliding scale to Asperger’s and I would suspect this kid was on a more extreme side of the disorder.

  Elena – Having Aspergers did not cause him to be a murderer! Having Aspergers is only relevant in that he was angry his dad “gave” it to him and he retaliated by murder. I bet you find out later he had a mental illness or was on head meds or was from a dysfunctional family.

Wait a minute. Did I read this right. The father was shot in the head with an arrow from a high powered bow and then still fought his son who eventually had to stab him to death.???? To see him wrestle his son while having an arrow sticking through his head must have been an amazing sight. This is something those students will always remember. I know I would.

  You can make a weapon out of just about anything. The solution is to afdress problems not ban objects.
  
  Christopher had 4 addresses since leaving high school & years ago. That tell me that he was not meeting his goals. He graduated high school, enrolled in an electrical engineering program. But no graduation.
  
  In short Christopher was not “Passing GO & was not collecting 200 dollars.” Thus he was unhappy. that is the root cause of this murder spree. Banning objects will not stop murder

  Funny how the outcome might have been different if the liberals hadn’t banned people from having the means to defend themselves. Anyone want to bet how this might have turned out if the girlfriend had simply shot her assailant half a dozen times before he managed to stab her to death? Or what would’ve happened had a student pulled a concealed handgun and put a couple of rounds into the assailant the moment he came into the room with the loaded crossbow?
