During ESPN’s “Pardon the Interruption,” co-host Michael Wilbon verbally gave NBC Sports’ Bob Costas “a standing and loud ovation” for his stance on gun control.
Costas used his platform during Sunday Night Football to lecture his audience about his views on gun control following the shocking murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. Costas read from sports columnist Jason Whitlock’s column in which he advocates for stronger gun control and suggests that no one would have died if there wasn’t a gun involved.
“Bob Costas, I want to give a standing and loud ovation to Bob Costas for his stance on gun control,” Wilbon said.
“And I don’t care who is watching this show and angry at me for bringing this up. Because there is too much happy talk around sports and this is not a happy issue,” he added. “I want to applaud Jason Whitlock for his stance and Bob Costas for repeating it and bravo to them for doing so.”
Wilbon’s co-host Tony Kornheiser avoided taking sides on the gun control debate and got right back into the initial question regarding whether the Kansas City Chiefs should’ve played their Sunday game following Belcher’s death.

These sports caster clowns are now being used to push the anti second amendment movement. If you continue to support them then you are supporting the movement. Plain and simple so take a stand and turn them off or stop complaining. I did it and it has been nothing but fantastic.

Another thing when we are talking about the NFL. How come they never seem to get tied to the 1%. They probably use more public funds than any other business, (except Chevy and Chrysler), and are hell bent on playing games in other countries. Stadiums are subsudized, police are used, National air waves, and they pay their employees the most insane salaries out there, but yet they are moving games to other countries, but no one ever seems to say a word. Or you could just train and arm the potential victims. Make handgun courses mandatory for girls in their senior year of high school. Let’s see how low the rape statistics drop (and the number of rapists on this side of the grass drops). Sponsor the elderly for self defense classes so they can defend themselves from the 250 lb drug addict that breaks into their house. Give single mothers a chance against their abusive, alcoholic ex-husbands. Give college students a chance against the deranged @sshole who walks into their dorm or faculty building and starts a rampage.
If you do this, I won’t have to be one of the first responders who sees the carnage afterward. I’ll just be the guy who picks up the attackers carcass and pats the would be victim on the back and says, “Good job.”
