Boehner Purges Fiscal Conservatives From House Leadership
In a discouraging sign for conservatives hoping the GOP will stay true to the fiscally conservative Tea Party message that won in 2010, House Speaker John Boehner has reportedly removed several of Congress’s most outspoken fiscal hawks from committees dealing with fiscal matters, citing their unwillingness to be “team players.” Business Insider reports:
The House Republican Steering Committee has purged Reps. Justin Amash (R-MI) and Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) from their seats on the House Budget Committee, and Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) from the Financial Services Committee.
The ousted congressmen are all far right-wing deficit hawks, and have each butted heads with the Republican Establishment over government spending and the federal deficit. All three members were part of a small group of Republicans who voted against House Budget Chair Paul Ryan’s budget proposal, which they said did not go far enough to bring down the national debt.
The purge sends a clear warning from Boehner that the Republican leadership will not tolerate inter-GOP squabbling as the budget negotiations heat up over the fiscal cliff — but there are signs that the iron-fist approach may backfire. Conservative groups, already displeased by the GOP’s initial fiscal cliff counter-offer, slammed Boehner for the move Tuesday.
One of the especially vocal critics of the move has been Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, one of the four removed, who has slammed the Republican leadership for its seeming willingness to sacrifice fiscal conservatism on the altar of defense spending:
For a party that’s trying to expand its base and make sure it reaches out to young people and new groups, I think it’s pretty outrageous,” Amash said. He called it “a slap in the face” to the growing libertarian wing of the Republican Party, noting that he voted along with leadership 95% of the time during his first term.[...]
“It’s not acceptable to have budgets that are unbalanced to the year 2040,” he said.
Amash also disagreed with what he described as an entrenched view among Republican leaders that defense spending is off limits for cuts. He believes that while the nation’s military must remain strong, that defense spending should be on the table for reductions and that it could serve as a way to find a bipartisan agreement with Democrats on spending cuts.
“I think they (Republican leaders) are willing to raise taxes to avoid any defense cuts,” said Amash. “I think they’re willing to take really bad deals to avoid any defense cuts.”
With fiscal cliff negotiations at a stark impasse, this could signal that Speaker John Boehner believes he will be forced to accept a deal that contradicts fiscally conservative principles, possibly to a degree that the grassroots would see as problematic.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 6:40pmJohn Boehner so doesn’t want to have this confrontation, because he and his “go along to get along” GOP House moderate colleagues do not represent the majority of the Republican Party’s rank and file. Far from getting his Conservatives in line in the Caucus, he is very liable to lose his job as Speaker over this. Conservative Republican Representatives were sent to Washington to get a handle on spending, shrink the federal government and hold the line on taxes, and that is what they are trying to do. This country is supposed to be about the rule of law, and for four years a Democratic President, with the help of his allies in the Congress, has been riding rough-shod over the Constitution and federal law. Enough: this has to stop, and if that means John Boehner’s time as Speaker is over, so be it.

■Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;
■Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
■Property: Each individual’s right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
■Constitution And Bill Of Rights: interpreted according to the actual intent of the founding fathers;
■State’s Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the states, is reserved to the states or to the people.
■American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.

Some are ok but others are not. I once liked them now, not so much. I believe in compromise although I don’t want the Republicans to sell out either if they don’t get spending cuts. I’m beginning to think it wouldn’t be so bad to go over the fiscal cliff as we probably need it. It could also be the end for the Republican party because the electorates would blame them, not knowing any better. After seeing how many Republicans didn’t even vote in the last election, I’ve given up. We are a socialistic government now & I blame them & the media.

They should force a vote on the keeping the Bush tax cuts in both the House and Senate and let the Democrats vote against it thus promoting higher taxes on everyone and then deal with Obama and the Democrats. The dealing should stop now until the forced vote is done and then get everyone on the TV, radio and so forth pushing the reduction in spending. They should be saying Spending Reduction more than the word TAX, other than mentioning the ObamaTaxCare. Simple and far less of Reoublicans looking like the Keystone Cops.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 5:45pmWho couldn’t see this coming after the Republican National Convention?
First, they silenced the Libertarians
Second, they silenced the Tea Parties
Third, they took over both voices for themselves
Lastly, they’ve committed suicide right in front of our eyes.
We obviously live in a 1 party system, and I don’t think I like it.
The tree of liberty is evidently getting thirsty, the Jefferson recipe for its irrigation is more apparent with each passing day.

—————————————————————
You are now speaking MY language.
I say it is time to quench the thirst of the tree of liberty.
And yes, I do mean Jefferson style.
This nation has been usurped by elitist government class. They’re better than the rest of us. They make the rules but arent required to follow them. They use OUR money to buy off votes and bail out their friends. They enrich themselves and line their own pockets.
They’re the ruling class and “We The People” are the subservient class. Its exactly backward from what it should be. Until this changes you’ll remain a slave to a government that runs every aspect of your life and picks your pockets clean to prop themselves up.
“When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is Liberty”
Thomas Jefferson made that statement and it has never been more true than it is today. We The People need to Instill the FEAR OF GOD in in our elected officials. Until that happens, enjoy your chains & shackles and the bread crumbs they allow you to have after their feasts.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 9:57pmWhat exists right now is NO DIFFERENT than when our Founders were being abused by the British Monarchy. The King and his field marshals & generals learned to fear the Patriots who founded this country.
We are endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights as a FREE PEOPLE.
Our current government has designs to, and essentially has succeeded in stealing this away from you.
It is very clear they intend to tax & spend this once proud nation into obliteration. Their purposeful intention is to crash this economy and the country. They’re taking everything you’ve ever had and everything you ever hoped to have in the future.
They have REFUSED to even pass a BUDGET for over 4 years which is in itself ILLEGAL.
Now they’re proposing unlimited debt increases by executive fiat.
What more proof do you need?

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 9:47amWe are not talking about a civil war. The American Civil War had duly consitutied governments and military. We don’t have that. Our war will be a war of rebellion. That means we arm, gather and co-opt and/or kill the military at the nearest Reserve or National Guard armory. We need to go the the nearest USAF base and take the fighters, bomber, refueling tankers, helicopters with armament that we need to fight off the forces of the government and project our power. We will need to have enough military might to create our own government, convene a national assembly and declare our independence. We must send delegations to other countries to seek recognition.
We will have to wage war against the mightest military in the world whose members have sworn an oath to protect the Consitution. We can do it because there are many veterans out there. Unfortunately many are like me—in their sixties and older. Most of us won’t be able to hump a road march, set up an operating base and wage war.
This is not sarcasim. It is also not 1776 when it took a month to communicate between American and the UK.
This is not defeatist talk. It is reality. The only way we can win is to make our war one of politics not bulletes. We need to steal the Progressives playbook and become community organizers. The TEA Party needs to come together and define a political platform that is common rather than have several different groups claiming to be the TEA Party.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 5:22amIn fact this is an excellent idea. It would totally destroy the one party, one ideology structure that rules America. It would debilitate the Dems as well as the GOP, which is good.
In England, a third party, the so called “Lib dems” plays major role in politics, the current “conservative” UK gov was formed thanks to their support.
This would give a voice and power to all those who feel disenfranchised by the Establishment of both corrupted parties.

So the ***** would probably removed more conservative people from committee. BUT RP and GJ would not have signed anything those progressives pushed out to the WH desk. So we would have at least had a little defense. But since the lesser of two evils lost, we will rush head long off the cliff, with no potential for course correction in sight.
Id take a RP or GJ any day over these progressives in office.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 5:51pmYou won’t succeed in reforming the system from a 1.5 party system to a multiparty system without undermining BOTH faces of the entrenched beast that is the American party system–if Republicans fracture, all it would is that Leftists have every incentive to stick together under the Democrats so long as they don’t become any MORE conservative (and even if they did, if the Republicans were fractured it might not matter if they did things unpopular with their base and lost a few) in order to have a guaranteed monopoly on political power. The exact same applies in reverse to the Democrats fragmenting–that’s why anyone who cares about having ANY significance to their vote is forced into the 1.5 party system and cannot effectively combat it by abstention or third-party voting. We suffer from a massive collective action problem that spans the Right and the Left–that is the tragic double-bind we find ourselves in with respect to our electoral system. The only way we can escape it, is massive concerted action among the electorate–or violent insurrection. But the latter is probably even less likely to be successful (at least, in the absence of ALSO having strong consensus across the polity in support of such a revolution) given the stranglehold the powers-that-be have on the government and its implements of coercion (the military and the police).
