Here Are 12 of the Most Interesting Petitions on the White House Website
As a citizen of the United States, under the Constitution it is your First Amendment right to petition the government. The Obama administration has made this easy with a web tool — We the People — that helps you generate your cause for a “redress of grievances.”
There are a couple signature thresholds that must be passed before the White House actually takes the time to pay attention to them. The first threshold, which will get the petition searchable on the website, is 150 signatures within 30 days. The second threshold, which will require an official response, is 25,000 signatures within 30 days.
In making petitioning the White House easier, the administration also opened up the door for a variety of, shall we just call them, interesting petitions — some more so than others. They present a snapshot look into to what is important to Americans at the time, or at least what some people are willing to take the time to petition.
We’ve pulled out a few with excerpts ranging from the good, the bad an the just plain crazy:
- Death Star creation: ”[...] begin construction on a Death Star by 2016. By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense.

- Label the Tea Party a hate group: “Legally recognize the tea party as a hate group and have them all removed from office and charged with treason against The United States Of America.”
Signatures: 1,370.

- Repeal the tan tax: “Please remove the 10% tan tax placed on tanning salons to pay for healthcare reform. This tax was removed from botox and plastic surgery and borders on being racist and sexist.”
Signatures: 366

- Redistribute funds to develop ‘Cat Girls’: “The money being used to fight the drug war is effectively pointless. We could be using this money to fund other much more important things such as the genetic engineering of cat girls for domestic use. The government could then sell these genetic household workers to boost the economy and try to further decrease the national debt.”

- Require all states to allow concealed carry permits: “The current administration needs to pass a federal law requiring ALL states to allow law abiding citizens to obtain a concealed carry permit for self defense. All states need to be “shall issue” states, meaning that if the person applying for a concealed carry permit has passed a background check, that person WILL receive a permit from that state.”

- Restore light bulb freedom of choice: “The federal government is phasing out incandescent lightbulbs by law and the last incandescent lightbulb factory in America has closed. This is not the role of the government. [...] The free market should decide which lightbulbs succeed, not the government.”

- Finance gender reassignment surgery: “As Americans, we deserve the same equality as those who have coverage for depression, various surgeries, and other medical expenses. What we are asking is both a emotional AND physical pain that we are forced to live with everyday of our lives due to cost. We need financial coverage and some help to get to the place that as Americans, every citizen deserves to be.”

- Require Obama to present birth and university records: “We have all seen the document produced by The White House which has been declared suspect by Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but The People request that Barack Obama authorize the State of Hawaii to release all related information concerning his birth in the State. We also request that Barack Obama authorize Occidental College and Harvard University release all records they hold in connection with The President.”

- Recognize the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group: “These people are responsible for hatred and harassment aimed at countless groups of people to include Military, Gays, Christians, Jews, Muslims, and America (where they live) as a whole. They picket Military funerals with complete disregard for feelings or respect to the friends, family, and people that care.”

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 10:29amOkay, some of these things I would like to see….
1. “Death Star”… While I don’t think this will be any kind of reality any time soon, I would like to see it (but I am sure I will be dead long before that happens).
2. “Cat Girls” – While I can say I have watched some Japanese anime in the past (so I know where this comes from), I can’t say the idea in reality would be that appealing.. for two reasons…
a.) I don’t think the genetics of feline’s and humans would be compatible enough for this to even be possible, and if it did, I have a feeling there would be excessive body **** (typically not shown on Japanese Cat-girls) or other issues that could be “un-seen”.. Ever seen a female cat in heat??? Imagine that level of obnoxiousness coming from a human sized creature? And with the human instability that some women have, IF you ignore them, they will HURT you… Ever been attacked by a cat?? Now Imagine if that cat were 5′ or 6′ and roughly 120 lbs WITH CLAWS……. That could be scary….
b.) Cats are fickle animals, and women are as well… So it may be possible to have that fickleness double… Would that be good for anyone??
While it might be cute in anime, I have my doubts that would translate into reality…. Plus, it does seem like people would want them for slaves (sexual or otherwise) and I don’t think that’s good at all….
3. Obama’s Info – THAT would be nice to see… But that will never happen…

Its not that I take them seriously (as I am a realist) but I do like to apply some logic to the illogical and see where it leads… Typically, it leads to hilarity…

For the good on the economy and the nation as a whole. Ask for Joe Biden to resign and then have the President select Mitt Romney to replace him. After this is complete ask for the President to then resign. This could all be done in one petition. I don’t think their would be a response, but it might be fun it there was one.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 6:35amI would bet that the idea for catgirl sex slaves comes from progressive democrat obama supporters. The same group who demand social justice from the white man because one of their unnamed, unknown ancestors may have been a slave sold on the slave market hundreds of years ago. It was probably brainstormed on a college campus similar to the one that produced Obama, where they practice hypocrisy on a daily basis and live by “do as I say,not as I do”.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 4:33amHow about a petition to prevent “Wards of the State” (able-bodied 18-65 year old’s) who receive ANY form of Federal Government (tax payer) assistance within 12 months of ANY Federal Elction or pay no net Federal Income Tax within 12 months of ANY Federal Election, the opportunity to vote in those Federal Elections.
If able-bodied, working age adults in America cannot figure out how to take advantage of the educational opportunities afforded to them to learn a new, marketable job skill, or relocate to an area that needs their job skill, and still require assistance from Tax Payers, they are not qualified to vote. First, they have a conflict of interest, being able to vote for those who promise them more “free stuff”, and secondly, since they cannot or will not provide for themselves, they are not qualified to tell those who have their affairs and life in order who will rule over us.

i got the cheap gov -issued ones and they are not effective for me to return to the kind of work i did, meanwhile i clean houses, pray and hope. but guess what? my job is being taken over by illegals!!! it was the only job i can do right now. argh, and so i am pushing to find any kind of work, while my ears buzz and hum and i teeter on the cliff.
yes, i got help from the gov, it was money i paid in in taxes; not sure that makes me some kind of waste. and i am very conservative. i voted for whom i thought might save our country. (i always vote for the loser!!!)
so please lighten up on those of us who “don’t pay taxes”

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 1:25amsigh I agree with some of these but most including the one that personally effects me as a Transgender person should not be taken seriously. Concealed Carry, Light Bulb and labeling Westboro Baptist as a Hate Group (mainly with their actions to our dead soldiers as I can stand up for myself but a solder who died can not for themselves) are the ones I agree with though I do think if we built the death star it would provide jobs and it would get the idea of future invaders to halt in their plans.

No you weren’t, you’re just mentally ill. Now that you have cut off your male bits, it still won’t make you a female. You’re still a male who has multilated reproductive organs. You’re a joke, just as “Chaz” Bono is. Although she was born a female, neither one of you can reproduce.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 4:06amWho defines what is a government defined “hate group”? What does it have to do with free speech?
KKK is filled with hate, but they can legally spout whatever they want. As long as they don’t turn to violence or commit vandalism. The first ammendment protects that.
Remember if the government goes about defining groups as hate groups and begins arresting based on that, then it can it can start defining any group that disagrees with others. Islam as it has done in other countries can make it a hate crime to criticize the negative aspects of their beliefs. In turn more than likely they get away with their own “hate”. Violations of PC laws also in turn become “hate crimes” to people in power. Thus such laws are used to eliminate free speech.
Also contrary to old platitude; “you can’t legally yell fire in a theater”. Yes you can, you just might get into trouble for any injuries you cause if people begin trampling each other or tear uP the place trying to get out… Of course someone yelling fire if the movie is showing a fire is rude, but it would be a reasonable outburst of shock of events on screen.

I mean tons of people love their cats, that doesn’t mean they have to (you know) their cat. btw i agree that some of these should NOT be taken seriously. If you want your gender changed, take up the responsibility for that choice. We can’t keep paying for crap like this. It’s OK not to agree with people and their choices in life, but no need to label them (insane), exclude them or be mean. Her post is as sane as any other. A lot of people here, and anywhere else on the Internet, set a bad example, but please treat others with the respect you would like to be treated with. No one wants to be transgender, just like no one wants to have no feet. If you learn not to hate, you’ll be happier in your own life. OK, you can hate Obomunism ;)

Booger:
I am against transpeople having the government pay for transitioning. I made a promise when I came out to my family and myself I would not seek financial help on doing this, its something I am doing for myself and I really don’t think the government should pay for that in any case. Be it for transitioning or other medical conditions. This isn’t a new point I have said this time and time this issue is brought up on this site. I think some of you missed the point I listed at the end of my post the issues I was in agreement. I wasn’t in agreement with Trans-people getting surgery on the tax payers dime. That’s why I stated “I agree with some of these but most including the one that personally effects me as a Transgender person should not be taken seriously” I merely was stating a view point here and yes place some humor in it. I personally try to work a part time job, freelance as a artist and am working on works of my own to bring in money to pay my own way as I expect of 99% of adults in this country. Not everything in my life is within reach but I must make decisions my life and money on what is important to me as a person. Sadly this country is proving the idea of hard work is a need to earn ones rewards is dying with the concepts of entitled people today.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 12:44amInteresting that the “transgender” petiton has so many signautres.
Not sure how we would ever get a Constitutional Amdendment initiated, it seems difficult just to get 25,000 signatures for a petition, a seemingly simple task, to get attention on an issue, let alone getting petitions signed in all 50 States to get a 3rd party candidate.
I created a petiion but after a few of my friends and family signed it, I learned they had to “register” to sign the petition. I suspect many people are averse to “registering” with the White House…but if we are posting here at The Blaze we know we are probably alredy on a “watch list”.

I’d give leeway for IQ’s between 86 and 100, but a person with an IQ of 85 is basically stupid, yet basically functional. They do well at repetitive jobs, such as factory assembly jobs. The are capable of keeping theirselves and living spaces, sanitary.
However, the re-election of Barack Obama proved that too many stupid people voted. Now, all of us with average and above intelligence are “stuck” with a president that only someone stupid would have wanted.

Intelligence is not race based, but gene based. If both your parents are highly intelligent, there’s a very good chance that the child born from these two parents will be born highly intelligent. There is very intellegent people born in every race on Earth. One’s skin color doesn’t indicate how intelligent a person is.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 11:41pmYes, cat-girls and cat-people, before the Blaze changed policies a few months back my screen name used to be linked to my online gallery of cat-folks. I do pastels of them and enjoy showing them off.
In the case of the petition for the cat-girls, just shows how lunatic people can become when they want to pitch and idea to Obama.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 2:00amI have followed your post for years, Snow; and I’ve seen your gallery. The art is cool, I just don’t get it, why cats? Might not be as cute, but dog folk would be…..aw, never mind, now I remember the “Dogs playing poker painting”.

It apparently also has a perverted side to it as well…
In the above petitioit’ll though very tongue in cheek, it looks like whoever set it up wants slavery again…

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 11:12pmAt least most of them have some value, though the only ones Obama will probably follow through on is having the tea party declared a hate group and add them to the terrorists lists as well – assuming it has not already been done in secret.
