Ohio College Actually Said ‘Men Working’ Sign Was Too Offensive to Display

Ohios Sinclair Community College Removes Men Working Sign Over Sexism Allegations

There are few who want a return to the days when women were treated as amusing diversions better suited to cooking dinner than contributing to the workforce. Some, however, seem to believe that we are just a step away from such a place, and any minor incident could see women tumble back decades if we are not constantly on the alert.

Following an election where the alleged “War on Women” was a major incentive to vote for a number of citizens, an Ohio community college asked a construction crew to remove the common “Men Working” sign after an administrator reportedly found it sexist and non-inclusive.

Fox News’ Ted Starnes has more:

The construction crew at Sinclair Community College in Dayton was forced to stop working until the sign had been removed.

A spokesman for the college told Fox News that they have a deep commitment to diversity and take it quite seriously.

“While it may not have been necessary to suggest work be stopped, we stand by our commitment to providing an environment that is inclusive and non-discriminatory,” director of public information Adam Murka told Fox News.

The controversy started when a female employee took issue with the “Men at Work” sign. Murka said the employee suggested several alternative phrases to the hard hats – including “construction zone.”

He said the construction worker complied with the college’s demands and removed the sign. At this point it’s unclear what the wording of the replacement sign will be.

Commenters are both amused and startled that a construction team would actually have to remove a sign for a grievance that would once be limited to a liberal arts classroom and people who have never had jobs. But is this just another adaptation of the language, like the shift from “stewardesses” to “flight attendants”?

One Fox News commenter joked about the next step: “Men and Women restrooms seems divisive also…in fact, ‘no dogs allowed’ seems unfair to everyone except the cat.”

  The sign was accurate, descriptive of the facts. The woman was not on the construction crew. While the story may be about something trivial, it is yet another brick in the wall. Time to start taking at least small steps to block this progressive devolution into hell and tyranny heading for us like a locomotive sans engineer. Or brakes. The ‘men’ should have refused to do the job demanding the sign remain until the college provided a female construction worker. That or the sign stays. If steps are not taken now liberty will be once and forever overwhelmed into oblivion. Yet another step is all lovers of freedom and our founding principles refuse to fly until tyranny is removed from the airports even if they have to find other work because the flying was part of their job. Time is swiftly running out yet people keep on as if nothing new is on the horizon. The language and the mindset of social interaction is being twisted into what the progressives desire step by step. Think of the coal fires underground. Normal life if you live in the area long enough. People exposed long enough to anything begin to accept things as nothing more than the way things are in normal-ville no matter how insane it might be to a newcomer on the scene.

  This is a non issue that is SO stupid, it’s just a warning sign that lets you know to be careful. So I guess now we are supposed to throw away all of the signs we already have and waste money making a bunch of new ones that will confuse people, all for no reason, stupid, ridiculous.

  The problem is that quite a few white men have it hard wired into them to work. They’ll push themselves 80 hours a week because that is what they expect of themselves. The Hank Reardens of the world will always continue to push themselves regardless of the burden or the weight the parasites heap on them. They don’t realize that they too are part of the problem, and they are usually the first devoured by the Bolshevik armies of cancerous thugs.

These people obviously have no more important or significant things to do in their life than imagine slights, insults or discrimination to the victim group du jour, even in the most innocent, trivial and commonplace of things. One can only pray for them since any attempt to rebutt with logic or critical reasoning would probably prove too frustrating, and ultimately a waste of valuable time that might otherwise be spent on more profitable humanitarian or charitable pursuits.

Doesn’t the protest towards the “MEN WORKING” sign, kind of lend to the argument that women are too emotional and hysterical to work as effectively in a “man’s” environment.

I don’t agree with that argument, but Adam Murka, thou protest too much.

Your comment did remind me of a funny commedy sketch, from the original “The Man Show” with Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel. They set up a booth in Hollywood and took signatures for people that wanted to “help end women’s sufferage”. There were all kinds of women who thought they were an anti-domestic violence group or something, and signed their petitions. It was too funny!!!

  I think they were upset by both words, although it would be a toss up as to which was more offensive to them. I would have laughed my rear off if it was stated in the Union Contract that a Men Working sign had to be put in place. Unions trump feminists, although if the feminists are also queers, or have queer allies, the match up might be equal. The navigation of what politically correct nonsense trumps other politically correct nonsense probably requires an extensive decision flow chart, with notes and exceptions.

They’re right. The women should be doing all of these jobs so that diversity can really be dispersed. Women should be sent into the jungles of Indochina with nothing but a razor and a bar of soap. Women should rescue a mother and her small children from a burning high-rise. Women should have to get get cru-cuts in order to be taken seriously. Women should be mining coal and lifting 1 and 1/2 times their weight in the factories. ahhhhh affirmative action looks on paper.

  There are in fact female fire fighters that do that but the norm is still male firefighters. While I do think that women should be able to do combat roles in the military there should be no separate grading scale for women. If your going into a combat role you should be able to do the EXACT same things a male does, that means same PFT scores and qualifications. NO exceptions, in PFT usually there are separate times required for runs and amount of sit ups push ups(at least there were in NROTC).

  DISMAYED Women do patrols like any other deployed soldier but they aren’t the soldiers sent out in offences into red zones. That is what I was referring to and also combat special forces(there are no female SEALs or Delta Force).

This is a community college, which means it is a quasi government organization, reporting to nobody…..and unionized to boot.
