U.S. to U.N.: Let’s Rethink That Whole Internet Regulation Discussion
TheBlaze’s Buck Sexton last month reported on the International Telecommunications Union’s ambitious and possibly disastrous plan for Internet regulation:
… the ITU believes the Internet needs a massive, unaccountable bureaucracy to manage the web — the most complex and evolving technological innovation in the world.
And for the world’s most important technological invention since perhaps Gutenberg’s printing press, the ITU can think of no better governing authority than a handful of U.N bureaucrats responsive to a vast array of national governments.
Basically, the ITU has proposed, as Mr. Sexton puts it, a U.N. takeover of the Internet. Amazingly enough, a few U.S. politicians were actually receptive to the idea.
But now U.S. envoys are calling for an end to any and all discussion on the topic.
American envoys say they are working with other nations on a proposal to drop all discussions on possible Internet regulations from a U.N. telecommunications conference in Dubai.

The U.S. is leading calls to reject possible new codes on the Net by the ITU, a 193-nation body making its first major oversight revisions in nearly 25 years. U.S. representatives held meetings Tuesday on the proposal to take all Internet-related discussions off the table.
The U.S. fears any U.N. Internet regulations could complicate commerce and be used by nations such as China and Russia to justify further cyber-crackdowns.
But the head of the U.N. group, Hamadoun Toure, insists the 11-day talks will not limit freedom of expression and will mostly seek ways to broaden Internet services to developing countries.

Posted on December 5, 2012 at 4:48pmJust ask yourself… How would the founding Father’s feel about the UN? The New World Order which as been supported by almost all presidents since Eisenhower hates our Constitution, our Bill of Rights and our freedom of speech. The fact that we don’t kill someone or at least jail them for condemning the profit Muhammed is totally unbelieveable to them. Why does our government continue to pay the majority of the cost of the UN? It is insane to me!

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 11:09pmWho are the US politicians who are responsive to the idea? Name names! Get their names out, let it be sent to every other forum or board where other “computer nerds” hang out (I’m one of them, so I feel free to call myself that.) I see there seems to just be a consensus that its the republicans that want to take away all rights, and the democrats are the good ones… I’m not saying their aren’t bad/filthy/worthless republicans, but let’s not make this a party thing. This is a “u.n. G.T.F.O. of America” thing.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 4:47pmOh yeah, the US is “fighting against” this proposal. Just like they “fought” against granting non-voting member status to palestine. Sure, the make noises, but the pull their punches and don’t really use all their options to stop it. That way, when it passes they can say, “We tired!”.
Regardless of what this version of the treaty says, over time it will get more repressive and anti-US (anti-western in fact). The many comments others have made about people being brought to trial over anything perceived as anti-islam will eventually occur. After all, once you post or email something, YOU have no control over where it went, but YOU will be responsible for it. That is what will give Barry and the Bandits their “mandate” to control the internet inside the US: They’re doing it for “our own good!”

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 1:40pmWhen you control the Internet you control the message. They would start shutting down Internet sites such as FOX, TheBlazeTV etc. The only news left were Obamaites such as CNN, NBCNews (MSNBC), ABC, CBS, NBC, Al Jeezera, you know all those who peddle Obama and his love of country. Only it is not the USA, he loves. I can’t wait until all the clueless Obama voters have their epiphany that they were suckered into voting for Obama and begin whining how things are going.
I don’t know if this is God’s plan and Satan is winning a battle right now. Remember in order for Revelations to happen, it has to get really, really bad before it will get better.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 12:07pmOne World Government will be achieved by controlling communication. More and more commerce and trade are dependent on it. Whoever controls the flow of information will eventually be in charge.
The Bible calls Satan the Prince of the Power of the Air in Ephesians. I wonder if that’s relevant?

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 12:03pmGet the UN out of the lives and business of the United States, leave the internet alone; of course this would ensure freedom for all people in communications and the like, which is one reason the UN wants it under its exclusive control.

Posted on December 4, 2012 at 12:16pmThey won’t. The only reason they have taken a position against the internet control is that it has gotten way too much press. The new USSA will find some way to pass treaty or regulation under the radar. Maybe with some provision of the Obamacare monstrosity. The idea that the USA cares about freedom of expression in China is laughable.
