Aussie Radio Hosts Prank Kate Middleton’s Hospital by Posing as the Queen — Listen to the Call Here

On Tuesday, an Australian radio show managed to get through to the nurses station at King Edward VII Hospital where Kate is dealing with her extreme morning sickness. The hosts, Mel & Michael, pretended to be the Queen and Prince Charles and appear to get confidential patient information about the Duchess. The call is going viral, and now apologies are flying around like William and Kate merchandise.

Australia’s News reports on what the pranksters were able to get from a nurse at King Edward VII hospital:

“She’s sleeping at the moment and she has had an uneventful night, she’s been given some fluids, she’s stable at the moment,” the kindly nurse informed the supposed Queen and Prince, adding; “I would suggest that any time after 9-o-clock will be suitable to visit. We’ll be getting her freshened up.”

Hear the entire prank call from the heretofore unknown radio hosts.

The Australian radio station has issued an official statement on the prank, including an apology from the two hosts – Mel Grieg and Michael Christian:

“We were very surprised that our call was put through, we thought we’d be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents.

“We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well.”

The BBC is reporting that hospital executives have stated that it “deeply regrets” the incident and they are reviewing “telephone protocols.”

But the prank highlights something this author struggles to understand: the whole obsession with the Royal Family.

For example, one expects the British media to be consumed by the prospect of a new heir, but ABC News? The American network has an entire website and team of reporters dedicated to covering the coming addition to the Royal Family.

And then there is the mountain of money to be made from merchandising a possible new monarch (or two). The cavalcade of collectibles seems to have started the minute the news hit the wires. Emma Bridgewater, a British pottery maker rushed a mug to market within days.

Italian craftsmen have already managed to create figurines of the young royals with a very pregnant Duchess Kate. The BBC has found them on the shelves of souvenir shops in Italy.

With six months more (or so) until the Royal Baby arrives, we expect endless speculation on the sex of baby (babies – there is talk of twins being delivered), names, delivery dates, lines of succession to the throne, etc.

Stay tuned.

Just read that the woman who fielded the call was found dead. Suicide suspected.

Didn’t bother to read the article, that said, leave them alone. Can’t this couple just enjoy this simplest of live experiences without the jackals having ANY influence (truthfully, these media people are worse than jackals, I only wish they could personally experience what they inflict on others). Have never understood why anyone thinks the media is an authority on the issues, they are MUCH more ignorant than the general population, and that is not saying much. I am 68, and I have never seen a time when thought the majority of people were so TOTALLY , and/or willfully ignorant, and willing to accept propaganda as fact. If there is an outer universe that Hitler survived, he is smiling. Even the most innocent of what should be a joyful of experience for couple is subject to the most ugly responses of the LIBERAL leftists. They are evil. If you are not appalled, then you too, are the problem.

Mike – Since you will read this comment, please let people there know that tricky headlines just to make a person curious enough to click on the story is the proof of how non-interesting, non-relevant, the story really is. Some examples:

    - The # of things that makes whatever blah blah blah
    - Guess what it this is doing to blah blah (vague tricky headline)
    - Open this link to read about something that it is not so interesting otherwise the headline would tell you about what it is right way
    - Is [add here a very absurd question] ? (when you add the “?” you can pretty much say anything. i.e. “Is my laptop a cup cake?”. Besides making a person start reading with already something in mind.
    - See blah blab blah

You can tell it is a non-story when it starts with:

    - Epic, Amazing, Spectacular, Never seen, Unheard of, Viral, Youtube, Exposed, Ultimate, Chilling, Incredible, Sad, Shameful, Terrific…The journalist do not rate the events, but show his journal.

Maybe there are other stories that are good somewhere else, so why not make the first page with smaller font, smaller pictures and more good stories. Leave the silly ones in another category or something.

British royalty should be gotten rid of. A bunch of imbreds, you can tell by looking at Charle’s face that something is drastically wrong. I don’t know why most Aussies consider them at all and didn’t break away from that English crap.

Actually the royal family makes the UK a lot of money via tourism etc. just the land they hold a lone that they rent out makes more money in a year then they consume by a large margin. Silly yes, beneficial to the UK, unarguably.

The royals are part of their history and heritage. I for one am glad that they hold true to tradition and history. I know not all Brits see it that way, but I believe that the UK would not be better off w/o the Royals. There would deff. be a hole.

The Author of this story doesn’t get it? Really? Well, let me see if I can enlighten him. The Mainstream Media knows they can distract the majority of Americans from the most important issues facing this Country with useless dribble there by allowing the President and his cronies to do things under the radar and so by the time citizens find out what has happened it is too late to do anything about it. Not so hard to figure out.

Dear Just, The author of this story DOES get it… the initial post included editorial opinion from the writer (me). I do not understand how a major network can devote an entire staff to covering the birth of this baby. We make that point. Thanks for reading TheBlaze.
