Detroit Councilwoman’s Actual Rant: We Voted for You, Obama, Now Give Us Some of That Gov’t ‘Bacon’

Speaking before the Detroit City Council on Tuesday, Councilwoman JoAnn Watson said President Barack Obama owes the ailing city a government bailout because its residents supported him in the 2012 presidential election.

“Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that,” said Watson, according to FOX 2 Detroit. “Of course, not just that, but why not?”

“After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young [Detroit’s former mayor of 20 years and former vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee], he went to Washington, D.C. and came home with some bacon,” she added. “That’s what you do.”

As of this writing, the White House has announced no plans to bailout the crumbling Motor City.

Fox 2 News Headlines

But, you know, this video got us thinking: Following the 2012 presidential election, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and talk radio host Rush Limbaugh were savaged by top GOP leaders for saying President Barack Obama won because he promised to give people “free” stuff.

Romney accused the president of promising “gifts” to minorities, young voters, and women, while Limbaugh dubbed the president “Baracka Claus” (a play on “Santa Claus”).

“In a nation of children,” said Limbaugh, “Santa Claus wins.”

“It’s a proven political strategy, which is give a bunch of money to a group and, guess what, they’ll vote for you,” said Romney.

Romney continued:

What the president did is he gave them two things. One, he gave them a big gift on immigration with the DREAM Act amnesty program, which was obviously very, very popular with Hispanic voters, and then number two was Obamacare … For a home earning — let’s say $30,000 a year — free health care, which is worth about $10,000 a year, I mean it’s massive, it’s huge. So this — he did two very popular things for the Hispanic community.

Exit Question: Given the “tit-for-tat” sentiments expressed by the Detroit Councilwoman, how far off do you think Limbaugh and Gov. Romney are? That is, is it really so outrageous to say that some people voted for President Obama because they were hoping he’d give them “free” stuff?

From the Detroit City Council’s Website:

JoAnn Watson’s plans to revitalize Detroit address the following priorities:

•Prioritize ownership and control of Detroit’s water, land and public schools.
•Promotion of fair trade policies to promote Detroit businesses, women-owned businesses and award contracts to Detroit’s majority residents.
•Provide policy oversight to ensure effective allocation of federal and state funds to the City of Detroit. Currently more than $100 million is at risk because of gaps of accountability.
•End insurance redlining and predatory lending practices.
•Enact safe centers for children, elders and families at risk of crime, violence, homelessness, hunger, lack of transportation, utility shut- offs, abuse and related issues.
•Adopt universal health care policies, low-cost prescriptions for seniors and a plan to win federal dollars to address Detroit’s unanswered physical, mental and environmental health risks.
•Develop mechanisms with the faith community for the redistribution of $1 million in illegal drug profits annually to fund drug prevention programs.
•Adoption of practices and policies to facilitate Detroiters as owners, not just consumers. Detroit’s population is 85% African American and business, contract awards and investments should reflect same.

More from the Detroit City Council Website…

      About JoAnn Watson
Jo Ann Nichols Watson has served as a municipal legislator since 2003 and was named by The Nation Magazine as the “Most Valuable Local Municipal Official” in 2010. From 1990 to 1997, she was the only woman to lead the nation’s largest branch of the NAACP; and from 1997 until her election in 2003, she was Public Liaison for a Congressional Office in The House of Representatives, addressing Health Care, Racial Profiling, Domestic Violence and Justice issues. From 1979 to 1990 Watson served as the Director of the Downtown Detroit Young Women’s Christian Association and as the Assistant Executive Director of the Young Women’s Christian Association of the U.S.A.

There’s more but that’s plenty to indict her as an unapologetic Communist.

This is exa ctly why the election was lost because the genetic trailer and intercity trash care more about “stuff ” then they do about personal freedom. These are the fools that will wake up someday and find out they are prisoners in their own country. Fools, all ignorant pathetic fools.

The parasites are sucking the producers of the country dry and are screaming for more. Our government is actually making it easier to sit on you **** and let others support you then to go out and work for a living. They are even enticing foreigners to come to our country and live off of the government. God help us all.

We chose to stay broken. And Broke.
Maybe I’m wrong about the ramifications of this choice. Maybe windmills will actually turn out to be a viable energy source. Maybe America diminished will be loved overseas. Maybe a nuclear Iran won’t be a threat. Maybe Israel is over reacting. Maybe western civilization was always over rated. Maybe life under sharia is not bad at all. Maybe when the rest of the world realizes that we have no intention of ever paying back that $16,000,000,000,000.00 (and counting) that we’ve borrowed from them, they won’t devalue the dollar, causing hyperinflation here at home. Maybe China will just keep on giving us money and not demand our hearts, souls, national monuments and marriageable daughters as payment.
I’ve watched my candidate lose elections before but I’ve never felt the way I did when this one was called for Obama. It wasn’t bitterness or sadness or even disappointment. It took me a while to figure out what it was. Then it hit me; it was horror. Pure, unadulterated horror. Not because of Obama, but because of what it says about us, the American people, that we chose this.
It shouldn’t have even been close. Faced with the choice between taking charge of our destiny and tackling our financial problems, we opted to get high and have sex. We’ve elected a guy who doesn’t understand that a growing economy that creates more tax payers will bring in more revenue than higher taxes. A Commander in Chief who doesn’t support our military.

Why do you think the Chicago radicals picked Obama rather than Hilary ? The ” our people” issue is such a GREAT tool for creating division in America and stirring up civil unrest ! The Chicago radicals are all about destroying American capitalism…and ” changing ” America.
