Author Brad Thor on Obama’s Benghazi Story: ‘If I Tried to Turn This Story in to My Editor, I’d Be Thrown Out of Her Office’

One would be hard-pressed to find someone more plugged into the intelligence community than New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor. In fact, the amount of research he does for each of his political thrillers would make your head spin.

That’s why Thor is convinced that there is much more to the deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi than has come out publicly so far.

Appearing on “The O’Reilly Factor” Wednesday, Thor said he would be thrown out of his editor’s office if he pitched a story with as many holes in it as the Obama administration’s Benghazi story.

“If I tried to turn this story in to my editor, I’d be thrown out of her office…There’s too many holes in this story,” he said.

But the most important question yet to be answered, according to Thor, is: Why was U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi on the anniversary of 9/11 in the first place?

“Of all the days for an American to be traveling in an Islamic country, why was Chris Stevens in Benghazi of all places on 9/11? That’s where this story starts and it doesn’t make sense,” said Thor. “This by all accounts a very, very bright man, yet he chooses to go to Benghazi on 9/11. That same day he sends the State Department a cable complaining about the level of security he’s not getting over there?”

Thor also said he is curious to know why Stevens would remain in Benghazi with all the protests occurring throughout the region at U.S. embassies, including one that turned violent in Cairo. He could have gone straight to Tripoli and been safe, he explained.

“When the attack happens at our embassy in Cairo, that immediately gets broadcast to all of our diplomatic missions around the world. … But still, Stevens doesn’t leave Benghazi, and for me I keep coming back to ‘why’? Why would he not go back and support his troops at the embassy in Tripoli? Libya is an Arab Spring country,” Thor said.

He continued: “If there’s an uprising in Cairo, another Arab Spring country, why wouldn’t you rush back to the safety and security – again we come back to the fact that Stevens said he didn’t feel secure – why not go back to Tripoli, be with your troops, and make sure you’re there in case anything happens?”

Sadly, O’Reilly said he doesn’t think Americans will be given truthful answers to important questions like Thor’s.

      “Dubyah” on the other hand managed to capture KSM…waterboarded him…had him then sing like a canary…we found out the existence of Bin Laden’s courier then in 2006 it was corroborated by al Libi KSM’s successor..which led to finding Bin Laden and all little Barry had to do was sign off on the hit..all the work was done for him. Tell me where I’ve go that wrong PANTY/WANGO/HORSIE/(insert this weeks’ name here)?

      Stevens wasn’t supposed to die. He was supposed to be kidnapped and exchanged for the blind sheik. That’s why he was there. That’s why no help was sent. Plan did not go as expected, so blame it on a video.

      So,… now BHO needs a Plan B. How is he going to give back the blind sheik now?

      The last 5000 American dead soldiers resulted from an invasion of Iraq. We’ve spent a couple of trillion dollars (think: deficit) we borrowed from China on that war and what did we get in return? Thousands of dead Americans, a fertile breeding ground for terrorists and an Iran that now militarily dominates the Middle East. But at least we’re sure that Iraq didn’t have WMD!

      What’s been the death toll in Afghanistan under Barack Obama again?

      As of September 2012, under Obama, the U.S. has taken 1,491 casualties in Afghanistan, which is over 70% of the total 2,121 casualties sustained since operations began there. Included among those casualties are some of the SEALs that were on the mission to take out Bin Laden, after which Biden and Obama couldn’t stop themselves from spiking the football.

      Here’s what then Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said about Obama’s handling of that operation…

      “Frankly, a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden. That all fell apart on Monday, the next day.

      We are very concerned about the security of our families – of your families and our troops, and also these elite units that are engaged in things like that. And without getting into any details… I would tell you that when I met with the team… they expressed a concern about that, and particularly with respect to their families.”

      Three months later: “A military helicopter was shot down in eastern Afghanistan, killing 31 US special operation troops, most of them from the elite Navy SEALs unit that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, along with seven Afghan commandos.”

      Pantyload sounds like a keyboard warrior. What are your qualifications again? What is this “experience” you speak of?

      For me, my experience comes from many areas of life: bullrider, ranchand, roofer, plumber, IT Administrator. Served 10 years in the United States Navy. Never saw ship duty, but I served in Baghdad in 2004, Afghanistan in 2005, and Al Anbar province in 2005-2006. I’ve seen a lot, done a lot, but I never came to be an expert on anything especially since the definition of an ‘expert’ is:

      XPERT – (pronounced spurt) waterdrop under severe pressure

      As a severely disabled veteran, I can tell you that your comments about disabled people are insulting, offensive, and completely uncalled for. Do I get disability? Yes. SSI? No. Medicare? No. In fact, I even still work for a living. In the grand scheme of things, you are but a mote of dust in the sea of time, so I wave my hand to you as you float on by.

    One thing about Glen that really upsets me right now is that 5 to 6 days before the stolen election, he threatened and promised to expose all the MSM that had proof the CLOTUS was lying about Benghazi. He looked all of us straight in the eyes and said he wasn’t bluffing either. To my knowledge, he never followed through with exposing the MSM.
    Why Glen ? Don’t get me wrong. I know what Glen and the Blaze stand for. I’m on your side. But i’m so disappointed about this that it makes it difficult to “believe” anymore.
    Why isn’t anyone trying to get the CLOTUS impeached and imprisoned for Murder and Treason ? And yet we are all reminded daily to buy these $100 Jeans and Glens Books, etc. Very disappointing.

    Frist, Benghazi was NOT a consulate. It was a CIA base of operations. It did not fly a US flag and was NOT identified as US owned or operated. The CIA compound in Benghazi was a logistics hub for weapons, but not from Libya.       Hey Piggy,

      I heard a report one day last month from a female correspondent who had been in Libya during last spring. She said that it was a fact that Al Qaeda was firmly in control around Derna, about 150 miles east of Benghazi. They were living in caves and sitting on all the shoulder-fired, anti-aircraft missiles amassed by Gadhafi, said to number 10-20,000. Then there’s all the RPG’s, automatic weapons, etc. You can’t say that Gadhafi didn’t like his weapons!

      At any rate, why did we not hit those caves last winter? Sitting ducks for laser-guided bombs. Why have we not hit them since Stevens, Smith, Doherty and Woods were killed? The lack of response and lack of retaliatory attacks confirm to me that Obama is neck deep into supplying the guys we’re supposed to be at war with.

      I guess this is what you do if you’re trying to destroy the greatest power on the planet.

      My prediction: Obama will be caught-up in the same “Arab Spring” kinetics that took down Mubarak, Gadhafi, et al.

    It’s always sad when Americans die in the service of their country, but trying to trump up some kind of phony scandal out of this unfortunate incident was just a sleazy stunt to try to swing the election. It didn’t work, so that will be the end of it.

      Sorry Chet but I think you are wrong. Yes the event was tragic but it makes no sense whatsoever, there was at the very least gun running to Syria going on. There should be a full-scale investigation of what the heck Stephens was doing there in the first place, and into the reason that no help was sent while the over 7 hour siege was going on. I have heard Geraldo spouting that there was no way we could have mounted an operation in time to do anything about this tragedy, but Geraldo is full of $hit. I was in the AF for 13 years and spent a lot of time on bases with special forces units from every branch and I can guarantee that everyone of them is on call and can be spun up and ready to go in way under 7 hours. At the very least you could send an armed drone or an AF jet in and scatter the terrorists in one big hurry. I am not sure but I have heard that jets could have been there in a little over an hour. Someone pulled the plug on that happening, I don’t know if the outcome would have been any different as far as the loss of life but at least we could have said that we tried. Nothing drops the moral of military units like not even being given the opportunity to assist when you have brothers in arms in harms way.

      If there was gun running to Syria, so what? That’s good. The government of Syria is the worst dictatorship in the region and the rebels deserve all the help we can give them short of committing our own troops to another full scale war. Nor do I blame the President for not ordering a counterattack at a time when many of our embassies were under attack, in all other cases by unruly mobs of civilians. Doing so could have made the situation worse for all of our other personnel everywhere, resulting in the loss of a lot more than four people. I don’t know if the administration found out that this was an organized terror attack before it was too late to save the people there, but the rest of the world didn’t know and wouldn’t have believed us if we had tried to tell them. It would have looked like we had ordered an attack against another mob of civilians. Whether you think it was the right call or not, nobody is perfect, and anybody who is routinely forced to make critical decisions will be wrong once in a while.

      The stock market has not “doubled”. It went from 9000 to 13000. In addition, these are 13000 “Bernanke Bucks” The actual value of the American Dollar has declined precipitously, and we await the sword of Damocles, in the form of hyperinflation.

      The “value” of the US economy has been stolen, just as if we were mugged by Soviet Soldiers. Some of us just don’t know it yet.

      Go away troll, the market is being subsidized by the US government right now to give the apperance of an actual recovery, which just isn’t happening. Do you remember what the market looked like before the collapse in 2008? Looking at the stock market as a bonafide economic indicator in this is really assinine. You might want to look at the debt to GDP ratio, and the debt bubble that is inevitably going to collapse in the next couple of years. But back to your point that the stock market symbolizes that YOUR messiah is not a hybrid socialist/marxist is about as dumb a statement as I have seen on the site. Obama does not represent me, and that is painfully obvious by his own words, so you can kiss my rear end. He doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he is only the president for HIS chosen people everyone else is just along for the ride come hell or high water.     Where is your outrage, America??? I can’t stand this–our country is ROTTING. Clinton and Obama should be arrested and awaiting their trials by now, but apparently there is no one with the stones to stand up to them! Where’s our congress? Left or right? This crime is getting swept under the rug just like Fast and Furious while we sit on our thumbs and watch our own destruction. Unbelievably sad.

      Fast and Furious started under Obama. Operation Wide receiver started under Bush. Unlike F&F, Wide Receiver was carried out with the help of Mexican officials and wasn’t a legal operation. Saying The Bush Administration started F&F shows your lack of knowledge. Completely false. Nice try.

      According to former Governor Jennifer (“What? Me Crazy?) Granholm filed a story on Al Gore’s Current TV that said that F and F “was born” in August of 2009, which, I think, was 9 months after Obama was sworn in.
      It can be argued that the Bush Administration had several “gun walking” programs “similar” to fast and furious, however, these programs were not run by incompetent boobs, who then covered up their tracks when the programs went horribly wrong.
      At least, MSNBC and Current and the alphabet soup media hasn’t been able to find such evidence, despite turning over every rock, and Dan Rather’s uncanny ability to make stuff up.

    Sadly, about half of us know the truth, but will the other 1/4 be successful enough to continue the lies to save Obama, while the other 1/4 could careless as long as Obama continues to be their Santa.

    Just as alarming is Obama’s warning to the House Republicans, that they had better not use the Debt Ceiling as a bargaining chip in negotiations. Exactly what is Obama saying here? He said: “I’m not going to play that game”.

    Is he planning to skirt our Constitution once again, and raise the Debt Ceiling on his “only”? That would be unconstitutional, wouldn’t it? The Executive Branch implements and enforces Laws, but has no power to WRITE our Laws. If Obama does that, will anyone stop him?

    I’m beginning to believe that no one will.

    My own hyperbolic thoughts….Bathhouse Barry’s peeps were/are having nefarious dealings with the militant islamists, which must be kept undercover for now. Our current ‘leaders’ for some reason curry favor with Islam.

    on Jan. 4, 2012, this president did something no president in American history ever attempted. Obama declared that the Senate was actually in recess because there were not enough senators physically present to do regular business, and thus that he had the constitutional power to make appointments unilaterally. He then appointed three members—a controlling majority—of the five-member National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), as well as the first director of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

    it looks likely that the D.C. Circuit will hold Obama’s actions unconstitutional, which would expel those three NLRB commissioners from office and cancel everything NLRB has done in the past year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    there was no diplomatic mission in benghazi it was a cia safehouse

    OBAMA WAS RUNNING GUNS ……………..THE AMBASSADOR WAS INTERROGATING PRISONERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO COLLECT SAID GUNS/WEAPONS BECAUSE THEY WERE BEING USED against us troops
