Burglary Suspect Calls 911 for Help After Texas Homeowner Pulls a Gun on Him: ‘What the Hell Are You Doing in My House?’
A Texas burglary suspect called 911 early Tuesday morning to report that a homeowner was holding him at gunpoint and threatening to shoot him, KDFW reports.
Homeowner James Gerow said he awoke at around 12:30 a.m. and found a man wearing dark clothes and a hoodie inside his Springtown home. He then retrieved his legally owned gun and followed the man out to a truck that was parked in his driveway.
Wielding his firearm, Gerow ordered the suspected burglar to give him the keys to the vehicle and told his wife to call 911 while he held the suspect at gunpoint.
“Yeah, hurry up now. He says my husband’s fixing to shoot him,” she reportedly told the dispatcher.
The burglary suspect was later identified as 41-year-old Christopher Lance Moore. Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said Moore also called 911 for help while he was in his pickup truck.
“I’m not sure. I’m out in the country somewhere and some guy’s got a gun on me,” he said on the emergency call, conveniently leaving out why he found himself looking into the barrel of a gun.
“I pointed the gun at him and asked him who he is and what the hell he was doing in my house,” Gerow said. “He said his name was Lance, and I said, ‘Lance, what the hell are you doing in my house?’…And he said, βunlucky.β Just unlucky.”
Moore was later arrested for burglary of habitation, a second-degree felony.
Gerow, the homeowner, said Moore admitted to investigators that he had “bad intentions.”
“I gave him a chance…Had he said he had bad intentions before that, he wouldn’t have got his second chance. That’s a different ballgame. You threaten me and my family, that’s a different ballgame,” Gerow added.

Posted on December 6, 2012 at 9:07pmIn Arizona, once the burgler had left the home & was trying to escape in his vehicle, you would not be within your rights to shoot him. You can only shoot them if they are threatening your or your feel for your life. An escaping criminal would not be a threat. In Texas however, if they are on your property, you can blast them & this homeowner was within his rights.
God Bless Texas!

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 1:47amI hate when they say ” he got his legally owned gun”, is there any other kind, would there be any other kind. It’s as if to say it won’t be long and then soon there will be a difference. I guess we will have to go and get our illegal gun, the one that they missed when they came to confiscate all of our firearms.

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 5:10pmWater the tree. Yes, there are unregistered guns, or guns registered to others, guns possessed by felon homeowners with their rights not restored. It is the same with fatal car crashes. News reports now report “the victim was/was not wearing a seat belt”, almost as if it was a national regulation to report that status. By “making the implicit explicit” (as my boss used to say), we can’t have somebody do the “what if game” that it might have been illegal / unregeistered / etc. I think it is a good thing.

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 4:43pmYou just don’t know what kind of crazy people are out there. I for one do not want my family ending up like sitting ducks. I know people that had home invasions. One woman was raped and the intruder waited for the husband to come home so he could tie both of them up and rob them. Another was tricked in to opening the door to sign something. They came in a beat both the husband and wife. Luckily, someone called and knew something was wrong when they didn’t pick up. The police came before they were murdered. The gunman had the gun to the husbands head and was about to fire before he heard the police. There are many stories like this. If these people had a weapon they could have defended themselves.

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 1:08pmThe homeowner’s guns obviously used their powers of escalation effluence to pull a poor random, innocent motorist, who would have otherwise just driven by the home, into the driveway and compel him to break in. From a motorist to breaking-and-entering, all because of the guns in the home.
The guns were so evil. You could just see it in their triggers.

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 5:05pmJimbo, I think Costas did a good job of explaining what he meant when talking about a “gun culture” when reading another author’s article during game break. You should find his explanatory comments.
He was referring to a coach talking to a room full of young professional athletes, all newly minted millionaires, many with entourages, many raised in bad neighborhoods now being transplanted to gated communities with multi-car garages filled with Ferraris and Bentleys. Over half admitted to owning guns. Guns, in that environment, will more likely lead to things like murder/suicide, or bar/club shooting, and accidental self shooting long before it will domestic protection. How many active millionaire professional athletes are the victim of home invasion or preventable lone street crime? I know of none.
And how many professional athletes have the time for proper training and periodic visits to the range? The few that do take the time to be responsible owners are not the issue of the original article. It is the many that had street experience, neighborhood experience, and grew up in an urban or Hollywood “gun culture” that are at risk of losing their blessings as millionaire professional athletes.
If you heard his comments, it made perfect sense.

If you shoot an intruder, he falls, and you shoot him again, you will most likely go to jail. If you only wound the creep you may get sued by him!
