Hot on the heels of Sen. Jim DeMint’s announcement that he is resigning his South Carolina Senate seat to lead the conservative Heritage Foundation, a “Colbert for Senate” effort has launched.
It’s not clear whether Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert himself is behind the push, though Colbert has a history of trying to inject himself into South Carolina politics.
The “Colbert Report” host famously explored a “run” for “president of the United States of America of South Carolina” earlier this year and established his own super PAC, “Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow.”
An as-yet unverified Twitter account, @ColbertforSC, posted several messages within two hours of DeMint’s announcement:
Reporting for duty, South Carolina!
— Colbert for Senate (@ColbertforSC) December 6, 2012
Did you know that our beloved South Carolina has a state buttefly? It does! It’s the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Vote for me! I know stuff!
— Colbert for Senate (@ColbertforSC) December 6, 2012
People! We have an official South Carolina State Horse! It’s the Marsh Tacky. I swear I’m not making that up. I approve this message.
— Colbert for Senate (@ColbertforSC) December 6, 2012
The Twitter account also linked to a website, colbertforsenate.com, which was registered but not developed as of Thursday afternoon.
Colbert and his supporters are likely destined for disappointment in getting the host appointed to fill DeMint’s seat. Gov. Nikki Haley, a Republican, will make the call and is no doubt familiar with Colbert’s bombastic, faux-conservative stage personality.

Look at the dumbass Alvin Green and see how many votes that demorat actually received when he ran, its a scary thought that we have the most dumbest uninformed citizens. South Carolina already suffers with that “Modern Day Plantation Leader” James Clyburn, look at his district the highest unemployment in the state and does nothing to improve it.He cryed like a baby and the Dems gave him a made up position LMAO what a dam joke for a politician. My advise to Colbert stay where you are at least your earning your pay check honestly.

I like the option of Tim Scott but I would like to see the SC Governor really kick Soros, Pelosi, Obama, Clinton and the San Fran org in the nuts by appointing Allen West. There was a reason why they spent tens of millions to defeat Allen West – a first term congressman!
The God Fearing States of America need to work together to defeat the Degenerate States of America.

Capitalism didn’t cause the collapse of anything. The global marxist socialist bankers ie Goldman Sachs gang (which btw your guy Mark Carney is one of them), & so is obama, is causing each & every crisis we are experiencing now.
Bill Clinton & his boy Robert Rubin along with some RINO’s really got the ball going in 99 by repealing the Glass Steagall act of 1933. If you don’t know what that is, look it up. The bankers & their puppets are killing us in each and every way possible. Better yet here;s a link.

You feel you are better than others for whatever reason. Demonize this as evil. That as evil etc. deny it all you want. It doesnt change anything.
@mercenary4freedom. You raise good points but if repealing the stegall act was so terrible, why did 8 years of republican rule do nothing to bring it back or pass a new bill to reinstate its principles?

You make no sense whatsoever.
1: Your grammar is ATROCIOUS, so why would you call out anyone else over YOUR presumption?
2: You’re getting butthurt over people that are religious that do not like your point of view, but you come here spreading blasphemes, hate mongering garbage all over the place.
I am self-professed Agnostic / Atheist…
Does that mean I need to belittle others for what they do believe? No. Most people of Christian faith are non-violent and very kind and courteous people. I find the “Atheist Extremist” approach very, VERY offensive to humanity AND intelligence.
I will not, nor will I ever be a part of this new douchebaggery movement by the Atheist-Extremists known as (that mirrors the Liberal way) “OMG! Ican’tGetMyOwnWaySoI’llFightAndDegradeAndCryAndMakeUpStupidMenialShitSoThatICanGetMyOwnWay!” INFECTIOUS and FESTERING DISEASE.
Simpletons with no brains. Christians are not killing people for their religious beliefs, Islamists are. Why don’t you go piss on their people instead of ******* on our people? Oh, I know! Because you know THEY WILL kill you for slandering them directly. Pompous *****!

Dec. 8, 2012 at 3:42amCanadaRocks: The downpayment to purchase a house just went from 10% to 20% up here, fellow Canuck.
That’s called responsibility. That’s one of the reasons why “Canada rocks”. In America, you just have corrupt lawyers / community agitators / future presidents working with dirtbag radicals to force banks into giving out risky loans. Fannie Mae? Freddie Mac? ACORN? Does any of this ring a bell with you? Probably not.
Yes, America is capitalist, but they are not practicing it. THAT is why they are falling apart. They are on a purpose-laid course for self destruction at the hands of radicals. Canada is doing fine not because we’re socialist, but because we don’t need to be torn down. We don’t stand in the way of the “new world”. Partly because we are easygoing, but mostly because we have no defense, or offense because we can’t afford it due to our many social obligations. Our massive country also has a population smaller than California. It’s MUCH simpler up here; costs don’t scale up in a linear fashion.
(Thank you, Stephen Harper, for being less socialist and allowing us to thrive in this day and age)
