Intelligence Experts Say This Is the Secret Reason Behind Israel’s Military Campaign Against Hamas

Hundreds of Iranian-made, long-range missiles previously smuggled into Gaza prompted Israel to take military action against Hamas, intelligence experts told FoxNews.com. The Obama administration reportedly had full knowledge of Israel’s secret motivation.
“The U.S. was fully aware of what was going to come in Gaza,” said Jonathan Schanzer, former counter-terrorism analyst at the U.S. Department of Treasury. “They said nothing for the first few days of the operation; there was dead silence from [Obama].”
Schanzer told FoxNews.com that Hamas’ stockpile of long-range missiles, transported into Gaza via smuggling tunnels, was the real reason behind Israel’s urgency in taking the fight to the designated terrorist group. The mission was to eliminate roughly 100 Iranian-built Fajr5 missiles, capable of reaching Tel Aviv. The weapons were reportedly smuggled into Gaza through Egypt.

Israel essentially achieved its main aims within the first few days, said Schanzer, noting that Michael Oren, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S., said as much when he remarked on Day Three of the campaign: “We have run out of good targets.”
Rocket attacks from Gaza were commonplace in Israel prior to the campaign, dubbed “Operation Pillar of Defense,” with at least 750 projectiles falling on the area close to the border since January. The attacks were ratcheted up in early November, which seemed to prompt Israel’s move and the deployment of its vaunted “Iron Dome” defense system. But behind the scenes, the Israel Defense Force (IDF) had a more pressing need to launch their intense bombardment on Hamas’ weapons stores.
Israel’s elimination of senior Hamas figure Ahmad Jabari as he drove in broad daylight in Gaza also fits into Schanzer’s narrative.
“Ahmad Jabari, along with another major Hamas figure, Mahmoud al Mabhouhk, [who was assassinated in Dubai in 2010], was a key part of the procurement network for the Fajr missiles and there is little doubt that Israel was keen to take out the man responsible,” Schanzer explained.
Further, Schanzer argues the operation in Israel began three weeks before the military campaign began after a “Iranian-owned Yarmouk armaments factory” in Sudan was hit with devastating air strikes. The Sudanese government holds Israel responsible, however, both Israel and the U.S. deny any knowledge of the attack.
“The suggestion of American knowledge and approval of the alleged Israeli attack in Sudan and the subsequent offensive in Gaza, undermines the theory that Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were not on speaking terms after the elections, in which Netanyahu expressed support for Mitt Romney. The grave threat posed by the Fajr5 rockets may have been enough for both leaders to agree that something had to be done – and fast,” the report states.
Additionally, the Sudanese factory occurred at exactly the same time that a joint Israeli/U.S. military exercise, “Austere Challenge,” was occurring.
“The fact of the matter is that there was a significant upsurge in rocket fire from Gaza in the weeks leading up to the operation…Once the need to respond was there, it made sense to take the opportunity to act against the most dangerous weapons. Those (the Fajr rockets) were the first targets. There was a need to minimize their ability to target major population centers in Israel,” an Israeli administration source told FoxNews.com.

Israel will need to do as you said, and exterminate them all. It worked for the Catholics, and held them at bay for centuries- allowing us to survive and thrive. They will need to either convert or kill them, because the only other option is that they kill you. It sounds horrible, but this is about survival. You do what you have to do.

Unfortunately, defeating Hamas and Hesbollah is not enough; now they have Iran and Egypt to threaten them as well! (At least Syria is being kept busy with their own problems!)

It takes many resources, including financial ones, to set up tanks, transports and troops on a border poised to move into an area. Israel had done just this before Obama’s ultimatum. Netanyahu has to husband his political capital where Obama is concerned. He backed down because Iran poses the greater threat. And we’ll see what rises from the muck and mire in Syria.

Didn’t got into more detail with Jerk because not sure he could follow the minutae or worth the time. Certainly more Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Russians, Thieves, and others were killed by the bullet than gas. Then you have the thousands of invalids and mentally and physically disabled that were euthanized in often horrible ways. Or out of a horror story the medical testing to death done in Dachua.

When Israel fully pulled out of the Gaza strip, instead of maitanin peace & using that as a sign that a pullout form the Westbank would also be peaceful, Hamas started rocket attacks.
Israel’s unilateral disengagement plan which was enacted August 15, 2005, was killed by Hamas & people like you on the left. If rockets had not started to fly, then we would have had a 2 state solution now or in the next dozen years.
This is a crime for which you & Keaton have some responsibility for.

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 6:33pmRegardless of who’s claim to the land is “rightful” (a stupid question if you ask me), it’s hopelessly naive to think either will just give up and leave. And given the size and distribution of resources in the territory, among other important things water, I don’t think two states can be made that would satisfy BOTH parties.
I believe the only solution is for Israel to become a secular state with laws requiring a high amendment threshold that maintain a secular and democratic character to the state, and then to grant the Palestinians the full rights of citizens and incorporate with them. There IS no other viable solution that serves the interests and demands of both parties to the land. Yeah, some of them won’t like it–but NO ONE likes the status quo. And it’s either a solution that they can learn to live with, or a continued non-solution that will almost certainly end in the dissolution of the Palestinian people and territory.

Israel belonged to Israel long before it belonged to any Arab group. Arabs invaded in the 7th and 8th centuries, killing everything in their wake. It was the Islamic Conquest (or call them Crusades, if you like). The Holy Land was not heavily populated until the 19th century as Jews fm Europe began to make their way home. Jerusalem, undivided, was a majority Jewish city by mid-19th century. Jews have lived in the region since the days of Joshua, even after the Romans demo’d Jerusalem in AD 135.
Guest workers came to the British Mandate to work. That is where the bulk of the Arabs begin to show up in the land.
There is no nation called Palestine, never has been. It was a geographic term much like the term “Levant” or “Nile River Valley.”
Jews who lived there before the recreation of the nation-state Israel called themselves Palestinians!
It is the Arabs who are occupiers if you give it a serious historical inspection. The Arabs came fm somewhere else (Egypt, Syria, Iraq mostly) and occupied the land.

The problem will either solve itself through attrition, or Palestinians will get sick of murdering cowards like Hamas and their ilk and either run them out or kill them.
Either way, problem solved.

Actually, Palestinians DON’T have equal rights to Israelis (in Israeli territory or no). Palestinians regularly have the right to freedom of movement infringed (that’s why they demand a “right to return”–it’s a right to return to the parts of Israel they were forced out of, that the Israel government only allows them into selectively, temporarily, and with great difficulty, precisely BECAUSE if they had EQUAL rights Israel would no longer be a “Jewish,” either ethnically or religiously, majority country), they cannot vote for the party of their choice in Israeli election (Arab parties which do not conform to Israeli sensibilities about what’s “appropriate” policy are regularly struck from the ballot), they are subjected to a different set of rules on their behavior and access to the rights, benefits, and privileges of Israeli society than non-Arab Israeli citizens. That’s not called equality–that’s called second-class citizenship.
And THAT’S what has to end if they are to live together–and Palestinians have to give up something too; they must given up their quest for sovereignty and their violence and accept the Jewish peoples’ right to peaceful coexistence as legitimate as their own. They must accept a democratic and secular pluralistic society just as the Jews must. Perhaps they give up less–but the Israelis are in the position of power right now, so of course the onus falls more upon them.

Not going to work. Not when one side believe that all they have to do is have a higher birth rate than the other side & just out vote them in 2 nor more than 3 generations . Combine that with a little street terrorism & you have, temporarily, a monochromatic state, where everyone is alike until they find something new to kill each other over.The Muslins are the worst percentage wise, but there are a fair number of orthodox Jews that could not stand a secular state. All said a person is much better off living in Israel be the Christian, Jewish, Muslims, Druze, Atheist, or anything else.

Posted on December 7, 2012 at 7:14pm3rd – Wiley is absolutely correct. Israel is a secular Western parliamentary democracy, like Germany (most of the rest of Western Europe is parliamentary form but w/a monarch as head of state and a PM as head of gov’t rather than a President/PM).
Israel offered all the Arabs living there in 1948 FULL citizenship if they remained. Most chose to leave ahead of the Arab armies that were supposed to push the Jews into the sea.
It’s called a Jewish state because the majority of the populace is Jewish, be they observant or not. Christians also have FULL citizenship if they were born there, as do the Druze (secretive quasi-islamic religion). Only muslims are exempt fm military service since that would violate their conscience when it came to conflict w/fellow muslims.
In giving up Gaza and turning the border there into an International border, Israel has effectively created Palestinian state, called Gaza rather than Palestine.
Now how about the Arabs stop chucking HE on the Israeli towns and cities next to their borders. How about Arabs start acting like good neighbors for a change. How would you like it if your neighbor chucked M80s and sticks of dynamite at your home at all hours of the day and night, for days on end?

I have fought and killed for this country. I have left my family and young kids for long periods for this country (USA not Isreal). I am disabled to the point I had to leave my last tour in Iraq early and will be so for the ret of my life. In a previous life I was a paramedic and saved the lives of countless other Americans. Now I run a busy that is getting harder to do thanks to Obama but yet I have resigned to not lay anyone off and rather have hired around 30 more in last 3 years.

They burned out any sympathy I might have had for them long ago, especially considering their penchant for media manipulation. The Palestinians deserve the same fate the Russians gave the rebels in Chechnya.

Second, as to the whole “the Palestinians will just gang up on them electorally”: (1) That’s why I said they need to put in place a set of laws preserving their secular democratic character and civil liberties with a high amendment threshold (4/5ths or something high enough to where the Palestinians can’t unilaterally do something like that in the short-term), and (2) Notwithstanding what conservatives think, Palestinians aren’t monolithic and they aren’t monsters–they are PEOPLE. They respond to the same incentives as every other human being, and they would PREFER peace and prosperity to conflict and suffering. There will undoubtedly be difficulties at first, but they WILL come to appreciate the chance to live and prosper alongside the Jews in time–humans, for all their flaws, aren’t an unchanging hive-mind (the way conservatives seem to view Palestinians), and generally they want to live in a peaceful and prosperous society. If given the chance to peacefully coexist as equals, humans will almost always come to the conclusion that cooperation is preferable for the interests of all.

Talk about uncivil bomb throwing… like most, you see in others that which is you. Now for the substance.
She brought up the comparison of the Zionist state and Germany. I just filled in some facts. Israel is today treating Palestinians like the Nazis once treated Jews… taking land, homes, businesses and placing the displaced into walled in ghettos, complete with checkpoints.
And, Zionists partnered with that same Nazi German state… brothers in a common cause. So, before you get belligerent and present your life history, perhaps you ought to read a little real history.
