‘Irreplaceable Family Heirlooms’: GOP Rep. Issa’s Home Robbed of $100K in Jewelry

Rep. Darrell Issas California Home Robbed of $100K in Jewelry, Heirlooms

WASHINGTON, DC – NOVEMBER 30: (L-R) Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA), Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID), Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) talk to reporters after the House passed the STEM Jobs Act November 30, 2012 in Washington, DC. Credit: Getty Images

(TheBlaze/AP) — San Diego County authorities say roughly $100,000 worth of jewelry has been stolen in a burglary at the home of California U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa.

U-T San Diego says more than 50 items, including watches, rings, earrings and bracelets, were taken from the Vista home on Nov. 29 sometime between 6:40 p.m. and 7:20 p.m.

Issa spokesman Frederick Hill said the pieces cannot be replaced.

“The items that were taken were irreplaceable family heirlooms that were inherited by the Issa family,” he told the newspaper. “As there is a current investigation, further questions should be directed to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.”

No arrests have been made, but police say they are tracking down a number of leads.

The Republican who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is one of the wealthiest members of Congress with an estimated net worth of around $215 million as of last summer, according to Politico.  He made his fortune with a company that produces car alarms and other auto security products.

Despite all the obligatory “Obama did it” posts, I will not stoop to that level. I don’t care too much for Rep Issa’s politics and/or behavoir as a politician, but no one should have their home robbed. I hope they catch the piece of trash that did it and I hope Rep Issa gets back every item.

      Oh! Canada!

If you are not paranoid, you don’t understand the situation.

Abnormal psychology has become the new normal. “The One” may have a problem with narcissistic personality disorder. Many liberals don’t realize they have joined the “Cult of Self-Worship”. If you worship at the altar of yourself or the Black Messiah, you may be a cult member.

One indication of cult membership is the delusion that lesser people need to agree with your opinion. There is no known cure. Cult members usually become a financial drain on their family and the productive tax-payers.

Good thing Isa belongs to one of the only two classes in America that get a cultural ‘pass’ for being rich. If you’re rich because you’re a famouse movie/rock star or because you work in government, then you get a pass. If you’re ‘rich’ for any other reason, you are a wall street fat cat and deserve to be stripped of your wealth and shamed in the nation’s media ‘public square.’

      Tifosa,

Robbed of what? Hmmmm, let’s see. I’ll note the ones that were taken at gunpoint (I had no choice to pay)

      Federal Income Tax – Gunpoint
      State Income Tax – Gunpoint
Local Income Tax (when I was in the Cleve) – Gunpoint
FICA (Of which I’ll not see a dime) – Gunpoint
      Medicare/Medicaid – Gunpoint
      SSI – Gunpoint
      Property Tax – Gunpoint
      Gas Tax
      Liquor Tax
      Sales Tax
      Marriage Certificate Tax
      Utility Tax
      Use Taxes
      Bed Taxes
      Tolls
      Capital Gains Tax – Gunpoint

I’d really like to know what you call it when people with guns extract money from you and take off with it to use for themselves. What do you call that exactly if not robbery? Perhaps you’d suggest because the people ordering the men with guns to do it wear suits that somehow it seems less nefarious than the local thug huh?

      So are suggesting that:

      1. that money taken from me isn’t really MY property?
      2. that I’m mistaken and that it hasn’t been taken and I’ve misplaced it?
      3. that it is my money and it has been taken from me but it wasn’t done so through implied violence?

I can hear our 60s Chicago radicals now: Bad man. Rich guy. OK to ” re-distribute his stuff” because he has more than he needs . ( this is really morally funny since Bill Ayers, the hub of this bunch of Chicago “anti-capitalists,” came from a wealthy family whose dad was a big CEO ! Billy probably just had unresolved Daddy issues…just like Barack Obama ! Made Billy blow top banks for real in those days ! Ah, the mental health issues at the base of this political mess ! )

Will ISSA have to pay income tax or capital gains tax on the insurance claim? ISSA may have to pay 45% for inheritance tax.

Maybe the burglar(s) were armed with “fast and furious” pistols. When the FBI installs bugs or searches for evidence, they sometimes make it appear as a burglary. A horse’s head in his bed would indicate Pelosi or other Italian mobsters.
