What Do You Want From Santa? Gifts, Cash, Gift Cards? (And Is Re-Gifting OK?) Take Our Blaze Poll

Last week, we updated the total cost of giving all of the gifts in the classic carol, “The 12 Days of Christmas.”

That post sparked a discussion about gift giving in the holiday season. What’s expected? What’s proper? Do you give your co-workers and boss a present? And what about gift cards? How do you feel about getting or giving gift cards? Do you expect a present from your employer?

Take our Blaze poll and feel free to add a question of your own. The results are updated after each question is answered.

I would like about $20,000! I need heart surgery AND back surgery. Without the heart surgery, my time is short. I haven’t been able to breathe properly for 13 years, and have been unable to walk because of the pain, for 5-6 years now. I was a productive member of society my entire working life, Thank you Dumbama, my medicare is offering less and less, with higher and higher deductibles and co-pays.

PS I’d also like ALL the Kennedy Clan to be beamed onto the moon, along with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga and that horrible Nikki Menage, Susan Sarandon, Nicholas Cage, Barbara Streisand…and Cher.

I want to wake up from this awful dream of living in the evil alternate universe. I want my world back the way it was before the Marxists took over.

I already got what I wanted. Long story short, my nine-year-old daughter just started at a private school for dyslexic children this week. Unlike when she was in public school, she has already made many friends, has a “boyfriend” (he accidentally touched her hand today and in her words it was “magical”), she no longer thinks she is stupid and has stopped calling herself “worthless” and “garbage”. She is happy and gaining confidence.

After so many years of tears and frustration, she is finally happy. This is all I have prayed for for so many years.

    Merry Christmas!

I want my contributions to society to have a positive affect on someone else’s life.
I want to put all my talents to good use.
I want to inspire other people to do good things for someone else.
I want to teach people of all ages to strive for greatness.
I want to help unemployed Americans to find careers.
I want to help the next generation to have more freedoms than my generation.
I want a career that will enable me to accomplish these tasks.

I have been out of work for 5 years now due to medical problems. I spent 3 years trying to make it on my own eating all the savings I had and sold all my guns, my truck, and just about anything else of mine to make ends meet. I spent the last 2 years fighting for social security and just had a hearing on Dec 2 so this year all I want for Christmas is some way to buy my two boys gifts for Christmas. I pray for all the people out there just like me and hope that they get the help they need and I find away to hang on another year.

I’m lucky, I was able to buy gifts for my 2 boys. For the rest of the family, extended, I went to the thrift store. My MIL loves her Pyrex, and keeps breaking one or more of the bowls in the set, so every time I see one, I grab it and save it for Christmas. She has a lot of serving dishes with a frosted rose on it, so anytime I find something she doesn’t have, I get that, too. This year it’s a flower vase. My father in law collects ducks, so book ends that are ducks and another duck. My brother’s sister and her husband are jobless, so usefull stuff like socks, underwear, other clothing (the socks and underwear were new, but the other clothes were thift). His brother is much better off than we are, so we got him tennis balls and is wife a gift card to her favorite yarn store on line.

All I want for Christmas is the IRS, the state of California franchise tax board and the Oregon department of revenue off my back.

Its going to take me an entire lifetime to pay what the government spends in ONE second

My wife and I can never even leave the house because between three government agencies constantly having us submit financials to get all our extra income, we literally cant save any money. It just took me 4 months to save 40 dollars for a pair of jeans

With high taxes and health care and owing three agencies back taxes, I really have lost hope

In four years, my wife and I lost our home, our cars, are friends and family, had two children, moved four times to two states just to survive. In that time the IRS has come down on us even worse

I think this is what serfdom feels like

All I want for Christmas is the government off my back. All I want this holiday is to not have to worry about waking up to a levied bank account or another certified IRS letter or having to worry about my wife leaving me because I’m forgetting how to be happy!

You know, after typing all that, I think all I want is HOPE, it truly is a sad dark place without hope and faith

I would like Santa to exclude all children of secularists from the shopping mall photo session.
Furthermore, Rudolph with your nose so bright won’t you skip the secularists house that night.
    Merry Christmas!!!!

gifts aren’t the important thing at this time of the year.
remembering friends and loved ones and spending time with those you can is.

what i want? I want the GOP to step up to the plate and offer the President exactly what he wants… close the loop holes, and agree to the tax hike. That protects against MSM and BHO screaming ‘obstruction’ when we get to mid-terms so we don’t have a democratic congress letting Obama completely trash the Constitution in his last 2 years.

BUT… there have to be stipulations: Namely, that when the taxes fail to stimulate the economy in two years, we roll taxes back for everyone to the Clinton level, and we slash expenditures including Ocare, welfare, and social security. So when it doesn’t work, it’s the Dem’s fault everyone is taking a hit from government handouts.

UNADJUSTED Unemployment over 7.5% July 2014?
    Inflation above a set number?
Dollar value below a set number?
    Deficit above a set number?

Put teeth into the plan… the Bush tax rate had a sunset clause… there is NO REASON a tax increase cannot have a sunset clause as well… local municipalities do it all the time with sales taxes.

Give him what he wants, then make him pay for it not working BEFORE the next election.

    That’s all I want!

I have never had my power shut off. I have always made payment arrangements when there was going to be a problem.
Georgia Power waits to the month of Christmas to ad on a 150.00 deposit on top of the deposit we already made when they hooked us up and inspected our home. We are not renters and have lived in the same place for almost 4 years so why would they all of a sudden do this to people this month especially when we are struggling as it is ?
We are currently living on workers compensation due to an injury and are barely getting by. I guess they feel my four children do not deserve Christmas. I  would understand if I had missed a payment, but I haven’t! How is this right! How are they allowed to just add money to your bill like that? This is simply not fare!!!
Please make a phone call to Georgia Power 1-888-660-5890 and ask for a manerger and tell them not to take poor peoples Christmas away just for they can draw some extra interest.
If there is anything you can do to help like, write a letter or call please do…..Thank you, a parent who will have to see their children’s face when Santa does not come because of Georgia Power being greedy
P.S. I am all for making money but this is money they didn’t make and I’ve already paid one deposit of 150.00. I just can not understand why they did this now at Christmas when nothing else has changed. Thank you for your help, Terrie Moore

!!! I thought Appalachian Power was mean, adding extra charges for extra labor AFTER a snow emergency. I guess Georgia Power is trying to do it in advance.

Can’t help much with money or phone calls, but you’re welcome to post this protest on my blog too.

What do I want from Santa? Nothing. What do I desire from God Almighty? My wife, who passed away on 6 November, 2011. I’m praying that God delivers on my hope when this world comes to an end and a new Heaven and a new Earth come to be.

    God bless us, everyone.
