HBO host Bill Maher’s political views– and his crass way of expressing them– are well known to most. Every once in a while, though, he takes things a step further than normal.
The mega Obama donor claimed back in March, for instance, that he should be held to a different standard after calling Sarah Palin a “cu**” than when Rush Limbaugh called 30-year-old Georgetown student Sandra Fluke a “slut.” On Sunday, Maher made another noteworthy claim.
Apparently Andy Williams, the iconic singer of some of the most-loved tunes in history, is to be remembered as a “teabag idiot.”
Here’s the full context, from Maher’s Twitter feed:

(Photo: Twitter/@billmaher)
The tweet followed one in which Maher called Senator Jim DeMint supporters “mouthbreathing a**holes” and “ignorant nativist pantswetters.”
Several of Williams’ most-remembered songs are Christmas carols. Here are a few of his best:
Williams died in September at the age of 84.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 12:36amBill Maher is an advocate for the use and legalization of marijuana. The smoke makes the user find almost religious profundity in everyday objects (a lava lamp). Bill Maher’s audience will snicker and giggle when the “laugh” light comes on. The marijuana users I knew in college altered their value system and eventually dropped out (later regret). It’s very sad to listen to a 60-year-old hippie.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 1:57amThat is an insult to 5 year olds. Bill Maher is in a class of adolescent-minded children that did not receive proper discipline, and led to their own devices, chose to remain in a pubescent mindset, that gets aroused when they say dirty words, and like-minded individuals giggle.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 3:01amAndy Williams was and will always be an American icon of all that was good and decent about this nation. His music was so integral to every memory I have of Christmas, warmth and happiness from the 1950′s and on all throughout my life. He brought good feelings and cheer to millions. Considering the fact that many are sad and depressed from personal loss at this time of year I am sure I can state with certainty His music even saved lives by bringing them happiness that otherwise might not have been. Andy Williams deserves the greatest respect by all who have love and decency in their hearts and minds, goodness in their souls. Heaven was increased and we were decreased with this great mans passing. Thank God for recording technology which allows the legacy of warmth and good cheer to continue for as long as we exist. America will never forget you.
If I were to state what I think of the filth bill maher represents I would violate every aspect of the policies the Blaze wishes us to abide by. I will not even capitalize the name of this vermin there are no words low enough to even begin to describe what he is. Less than nothing is the greatest he can ever hope to be. I look forward to the day of judgement when I will never have to hear or look upon this wretched vile soul again. Andy Williams exists forever, bill does not exist at all.
How long Oh Lord, before You return and rid the Earth of all the vile beasts who walk upon it?

& then stands by & watches the fireworks…a disgusting, crazy arsonist.
Wanna’ break his nasty spirit & ugly heart ?
Simply ignore him & any of his cheap, bully rants.
Somewhere, good, decent fellows like Andy Williams
have the ear of a more powerful force
that even cads like Maher can’t rock, roll & rattle.
When he least expects it, he will be dealt with in appropriate, superior manner.
Ugly-hearted people like Maher have no fear
because they have NO conscience…hence, their despicable display.
All those who diss the Tea Party…actually are rallying it a million-fold.
Andrew Breitbart always said, he would trust to leave his children

Palin was a respected Governor and knew more than people gave her credit for.

Fluke on the other hand, saying she couldn’t afford her birth control, if I have the correct person, is
what she was called.

My pseudonym honors my father. As some of you know, my father was in the first wave of USMC into Inchon Korea. Upon discharge, and in Cleveland OH, he found himself in the music recording industry (late 50′s-early 80′s).
Some of his personal friends, not acquaintces, but friends were Al Martino, Count Basie, Lorretta Lynn, Sonny James, Vicki Carr, Nat King Cole, Jerry Vale, Andy Williams and on and on. Many went to his house when they were in town.
As a kid, you thought nothing of it… It was just what dad did for a living. Mr. Williams was one of the many visitors…
I am not going to go on and on but simply say… “Mr.Bill Maher, you sir are a d*ck head”

The Andy Williams Christmas Show was the warm fuzzy on a winter night. The Williams brother, their parents and all the kids on the show along with the Osmond family. The last video of “the way you look tonight” not many singers could hit those notes so delicately. He must have had a perfect pitch. Those were the days when TV was young and innocent, which seems sooooo long ago. Those were also the days when a teen could buy a “beater” car for $50 and fix it up to get to work on time. Hot cocoa and twinkling lights, joyful music and church bells……(people like bill maher were few, if any) ……those were the days.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeldwfOwuL8 – That’s Mr. Martino in the white suit. Mr.. Martino was blacklisted to perform in Vegas for about three decades because of that role.
Mr. Martino passed away just two days before my father. They were close friends.
Mr. Cole asked my dad what was wrong… “It ticks me off that you can perform in their clubs but can not sleep in their hotels”… Smiling he replied, “I don’t give it a thought because when I go home to California, I enjoy their money, my house, my pool and my Cadillacs.”
Sonny James: I was about ten and he had a Polaroid taken of him and I in his dressing room. I enlisted in the USAF. In the mail, was the picture and written, “Good luck in the Air Force, take care and God bless. Sonny” That was a surprise that I hadn’t expected. For 8yrs he had that photo. Blew me away.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 8:09pmDADROCKED – It’s a man of great character who is able to continue celebrating his Dad’s life beyond his passing. Amazing that your Dad and Al passed away a few days apart. I know The Godfather part well…shocking scene (every time I saw the man who woke up with the head in bed in another role, I thought of that scene). I didn’t know Al had been blacklisted. I had heard the Fontaine role was about Frank Sinatra. I just went to my closet and pulled out my vinyl album of Al Martino’s Spanish Eyes. Tomorrow, I’m going to play it.
Nat King Cole’s songs, Ramblin’ Rose and Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer, were favs of mine to play on the piano, and now go to Rosie’s Diner and put a quarter in the juke box machine at the table and listen to him. That was pretty cool how he responded to your Dad’s frustration. He died way too young.
Sonny always seemed to be a gentleman…what a great memory and keepsake for you to have. Just now listening to O Holy Night…another great song that Andy Williams did.
Reading your posts are enjoyable as they open up memories of the good ol’ times that we’ve stored away far too long. If every child could be taught love and respect as you were, imagine how life would be. I am certain you paid it forward and are being richly rewarded with the same the love and respect from your children.

To answer no bu Oh man… Goose bumps as I write… As you know, groups drove their own cars to gigs back then… I have a picture of my dad behind the wheel of a station wagon with the groups name on the rear drivers side. Looking at the pic it says “The Bobby Hackett Quartet”. Are you referring to Bobby Hackett?
If so, I had always wondered the connection between my dad and Bobby Hackett.
I did my homework and Bobby Hackett was huge… He was always on the east coast but no mentions of Cleveland OH. The only thing I can speculate is that Cleveland was one of the last pit stops before someone made it big. They then would wind up in Chicago then national.
Bobby Hackett was a horn player, especially trumpet.

Well you heard right… That is what Mr. Martino had told my father as well and it was Mr. Sinatra who was ticked off and had his people “…take care of the issue.” Mr Martino had also said that he had to get security and tall stone walls around his house outside of Philly – Kind of cool to be a ‘fly on the wall’ during their talks.
“Reading your posts are enjoyable as they open up memories of the good ol’ times that we’ve stored away far too long.”
In late ’90s, and knowing that in no way could I remember it all, I got tired of dad going through his past and sharing all of the experiences as he went thru numerous photo albums. So over a three day span, I video taped him going over it all…
It’s especially neat to hear my aunts, his sisters, talk about their ‘kid’ brother’s experiences.
I have a three page letter, on onion paper, from Debbie Reynolds to him. Story goes that they had gotten together a few times on ‘dates’.
From my father, I never knew racism… The worst that he said was that someone/something was blacker than the ace of spades.
When dad had gotten ‘dementia’, I never noticed for I was used to him talking of the ‘days’…
When he passed, I inherited over 25,000 LPs, 12,000 45s, cassettes, 8 tracks and cd’s.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 3:18pmYeah, so sorry fellas. You’re running a bit short on heroes, eh? Duke? Gay. Draft dodger. Wife beater. Raging alcoholic. As Kirk Douglas said to him, “You know your problem is that you really think you are John Wayne.” Kirk didn’t buy the public persona. He knew better. You don’t.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 11:10pmThe John Wayne being gay rumor has been debunked so many times that it’s pathetic to see people still try to use it to smear him. The fact is that Wayne was so opposed to homosexuality that gay actor Montgomery Clift refused to ever work with him or Walter Brennan again after “Red River” due to the hard time the two gave him over his “life style choice”. Dean Martin got the role in “Rio Bravo” because of Clift refusing to work with Wayne or Brennan again. You leftists really need to do your research.

Dec. 9, 2012 at 11:18pmI forgot to add that Wayne wasn’t a draft dodger either. He was listed as 4f when he attempted to enlist at the outbreak of Equipment due to an injury received ed while playing football for USC. A teammate of Wayne’s was frequent costar Ward Bond.
