Senator Calls for MTV to Cancel ‘BuckWild,’ A Jersey Shore-Like Reality Show Set in Small Town W.Va.

BuckWild (MTV)
Have you heard about the new MTV show BuckWild?
Set in West Virginia, the reality show looks like it could be described as a cross between Jersey Shore and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, following a crew of rowdy and dramatic young people in the backwoods. Democratic West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin III calls the show a “travesty” and has sent a letter to MTV President Stephen Friedman requesting the network take BuckWild down.
“As a U.S. Senator, I am repulsed at this business venture, where some Americans are making money off of the poor decisions of our youth,” Manchin wrote, after seeing only previews of the show – not an actual episode–according to The Washington Post.

Sen. Joe Manchin (AP)
“I cannot imagine that anyone who loves this country would feel proud profiting off of ‘Buckwild’,” Manchin went on to write.
MTV described the show in a press release as “a new series following a group of nine young, carefree and adventurous friends living in West Virginia.”
Carefree is one way to put it.

Manchin’s complaints may fall on deaf ears. When the network first aired Jersey Shore they faced a considerable amount of controversy from Italian-American groups for what they saw as the promotion of inaccurate stereotypes for profit, and even Domino’s Pizza pulled their advertising during the show’s commercials. Jersey Shore survived and has made it through six seasons, eventually becoming the network’s most watched series ever.
MTV has yet to comment on or respond to Manchin’s letter.

Posted on December 8, 2012 at 6:02pmClassic! Liberals led the charge to let parents off the hook for poor parenting; even embracing it. Now, look as more than half this country is nothing more than trailer park trash and they don’t even realize it. There used to be a time when these types of people understood what they were and didn’t really enjoy it. Now, these people revel in bottom feeding. It’s wild.
Picture this freakin’ country in 30 years. I simply cannot fathom how people in general are getting more hillbilly-ish, even though there is more access to food, cars, education; way, way, WAY more than ever before. Crazy!

These people that are getting paid to do this are really just stupid hicks. I come from WV and the people there aren’t anything like the Whites or even act anything like the Whites. I can’t imagine anyone being worse. I hope they don’t air it. WV is a beautiful state with beautiful people in it. Please if you watch these shows, don’t form an opinion of the state from that, that is not what WV is like.

Posted on December 9, 2012 at 2:11amAre the people in these shows not actually from West Virginia? Did the producers have to remove any brain tissue from their skulls against their will to get them to engage in this behavior? Then neither you nor the Senator has a legitimate beef.’

Both West Virginia and New Jersey have a revelous night life centered around casinos. It invites drunkenness, wantonness, rebellious college kids, irresponsible parents, and financial ruin.
What do you expect will be the outcome when the American people once again decide to entertain their minds with the mockery of sin and fools?

Posted on December 8, 2012 at 3:18pmLet MTV make a show about inner city black youths. Get into the drugs, their gangs and what they think about white people. But, putting that aside, a relatively well informed person knows who is Snooki…..even though I haven’t watched the show (I never wanted to), I know who she is, and I’ve read some pretty funny (And sad at the same time) stories about her on Internet that also included short videos showing her “glamour” and “good manners”….

That violent, sick, twisted, racist movie, will create more Black on White violent crime. It’s being promoted as a comedy. It’s anything but a comedy. It’s a get even with Whitey movie.

Posted on December 8, 2012 at 2:59pmI don’t like watching these types of shows…I’m embarrassed for these people who are so starved for or soooo like attention they will do anything to get it! Put a camera in front of them they will do practically anything! What does that say about them really?…It is usually of no consequence except to brand them forever as a fool…it is one thing to be goofy as kids we all do that, but to record it for posterity? well they really should think better of it! Someday they will have kids of their own and i am sure they will love having that floating around for them to experience….I think it is FAR worse than having your parents telling your kids the dumb stuff you did ~ now they can be armed with internet videos to really give them a ringside seat!! Good luck on that one something tells me they will need it!
