8-Year-Old Boy Receives 500 Presents for His Birthday But Goes Home With Zero — Find Out Why

When Chase Branscum turned 8-years-old, he received more than 500 gifts at his birthday extravaganza. However, he left his party with none of them.

Young Chase instead decided to give all of his presents away to help other local boys and girls through a Toys for Tots toy drive.

“I already have toys and other kids don’t,” he told FOX23. “They don’t have toys and when they have anything for Christmas they can’t play and they can’t have fun.”

Chase’s party was held on Dec. 9 at the Rejoice Church North Campus gymnasium in Owasso, Okla. and more than 100 guests showed up to celebrate with him.

The boy’s mom says she was proud of her son for his selfless giving on his birthday. She added that Chase’s gesture was a “gift” to her.

“He has a wonderful heart,” Tiffany Rowe, Chase’s mom, said. “You want to raise your child to be generous and to think of someone other than themselves.”

So, lets review: I agree that this is a planned event with a plan to donate to toys for tots. The praise heaped upon this child is to much, as is the negative comments. He’s probably a good kid, but he is not the second coming. This is a publicity stunt and a fundraiser. It may be somewhat Disingenuous, but it was for a good cause. And 48. If you don’t like the stories the blaze posts quit reading it. You make the same comment on every story(copy and paste much?)

So happy to see such goodness in a child. So ashamed to breathe the same air as some of you people. Wow. What awful human beings you are.

Yeah…because easy jobs paying loads cash every month have to be advertised here.

The only one getting paid is you..for every post. But it’s not much is it? Or you wouldn’t have to post so often and absolutely everywhere..under different names.

All they have to do is look at the picture above. The toys were collected in a “toys for Tots” bin.

      No reading required.

It appears tobe a huge megaparty. The child gave the presents away to [TOYS-FOR-TOTS]. It was NOT a “Toys-for-tots” party!!

About as long as it would survive if it only reported on negative stories. This isn’t a newspaper; posting a positive story showcasing the good and decency that we are hoping to save doesn’t somehow take up the space of some other important story. Space on the INTERWEBZ is virtually limitless, after all.

IT’S easy for a child who has everything [including wealthy parents with wealthy friends to give 500 gifts] to give away his toys, he probably already has a bank account put in trust for him in the millions

find the 8 year old boy who has only one toy who gave that away, then you have a real story of kindness

Seeing as the kid had no choice in parents, it sure as hell seems like he was raised with care, love, and a proper human outlook on life.

What the hell does it matter if the kid is rich or poor? An 8 year old can hardly be faulted for having a splendid humanity. Rich or poor, this child is living good.

Attitudes like yours just piss me off.

Read the story again. This was a community toy drive, not some massive gift purchase by his parents. Even if that wasn’t the case, please tell me how ANY part of this story warrants a negative reaction.

If you follow the source you see he didn’t want anything, he decided on a Toys for Tots drive where all his presents would be donated to the charity. Word got out before the party and people donated toys.

I sure hate to sound synical, but somethin’s fishy here. First, an 8 yr old has a b-day party in a gym? and 100 folks show up? And each person gives an avg of 5 gifts a piece? to an 8 yr old ?!?! who just HAPPENS to give them all to charity ?????? What—the kid’s a local politician?

no way. This was staged, folks. It was a way for the attendees to give to Toys for Tots and get the the church in the paper. Scam

JERK…100 guests = 500 gifts (all done at a church), and then 100% of them donated same day…I don’t like being this cynical, but that sounds awfully set up to me. I’m sorry but NO child automatically thinks about giving everything he has away without being lead in that direction. Charity is GREAT, but this is fishy

Some people are working but still aren’t making the ends meet, and can’t afford to get their kids anything. Not all people who use toys for tots are lazy non-workers. I have a kid on my bus who I know doesn’t have much cause all his jeans are about 5 inches too short. Don’t forget some try and still can’t get ahead.

Can’t afford kids, why have them? Can’t have them, then whine about not being able to afford them. I understand that hard times befall some, but that some is a very small few. Most have made poor choices, then look to others to alleviate the consequences of those poor choices.

And, that’s not even addressing the fact that the poor living in this country live better than most around the globe. Our poor are not poor.

      Actually to usedczarsalesman
Truly? No kid ever gives without being led that way? I heard it done once. A kid found a significant amount of money and turned it in to the police who kept it 30 days. When the time came to collect it, he donated the entirety to charity. The parent even asked him if he were certain he wanted to give it all and he said he was. I heard this story from the parent.
You have a tautology is what. You see a child being charitable which is proof to you someone led them to be so. Therefore this proves the child was led since the charitable act is proof the child was led. Children are moral agents, even as young as 8.
