And Now for the Worst Free Throw You’ll Probably Ever See: ‘Good Lord!’

Let’s take a break from some of the more depressing news of the day and enjoy what is likely be one of the worst free throws in the history of ever:

But let’s cut Appalachian State center Brian Okam a little slack. His botched free throw on Sunday (that’s gone viral) doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a terrible basketball player. It’s more likely he’s a little rusty.

Okam has “attempted only five free throws all season (and made two) and 22 (and made 12) in your three-year collegiate career, which includes a season at Rutgers,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

So maybe he was just a little out of practice. Still, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this was a pretty awful free throw.

Having played and coached the game there is a possible explanation. If a team is down 2 with seconds to go hitting a free throw does nothing except seal the loss. The coach could have instructed the guy to shoot a high arching shot – deliberately missing the shot – to give them a chance for rebound and put back. It’s a long-shot – no pun intended – but it happens. The trajectory of his shot suggests tht might have been the play but the arch was way to high and never had a chance. Give the guy a break. I’m glad many of my mistakes in life haven’t been recorded for all of “humanity” to mock.

  They were going for levity since there are a lot of people starting to despair. Why not occasionally give them something that’s not doom and gloom? It doesn’t hurt anyone, and you had the choice to not click the link and then not comment and show your interest on this kind of topic.

This is why the WH does not let press into obama’s basketball games. They made the mistake of letting him throw out a first pitch. Word is he has no moves whatsoever on he court.

  So many people here think they are not the problem but are the problem. Commenting on free throws, old pictures of high schools and SNL does nothing to preserve our freedoms, It is as Glenn said when he use to be a leader a “purposeful distraction from reality”.

  The Blaze readership is down 24% from last month. All the informed people are abandoning Glen Beck because he has left them. With Beck abandoning his core values that very expensive studio in Dallas will soon crumble along with Beck’s empire. Better to hitch your horse to another wagon.
