Must Watch: Glenn Beck Spoofs Bob Costas, Blasts ‘Beer Drinking and Car Driving Culture’

Glenn Beck Spoofs Bob Costass Anti Gun Commentary on TheBlazeTV

(TheBlazeTV)

During his show on TheBlazeTV Monday, Glenn Beck spoofed NBC’s Bob Costas after he failed to address the tragic death of Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown the same way in which he addressed the gun-related murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. Beck didn’t cut corners either as he fully embraced Costas’ character with a brown wig.

During a Sunday Night Football halftime show earlier this month, Costas infamously blasted the “gun culture” in the U.S. and read a portion of sports columnist Jason Whitlock’s column, saying if “Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today.”

“I’m filling in for Bob Costas today,” Beck began. “And we are going to do our best to continue his tradition of exceptional sports analysis along with exceptionally idiotic and logically flawed current events commentary.”

“As you might know, tragedy struck the NFL over the weekend yet again,” he added. “Linebacker Jerry brown was killed in a  pre-dawn automobile accident. The driver of the vehicle, fellow teammate, Josh Brent, is charged with intoxication man slaughter after failing a sobriety test at the scene.”

Glenn Beck Spoofs Bob Costass Anti Gun Commentary on TheBlazeTV

(TheBlazeTV)

Here’s what Beck “thought” Costas was going to say on the NFL’s most recent death during Sunday Night Football this week, but didn’t:

“Our current beer drinking and car driving culture ensures that more routine nights out with friends will end in the ultimate tragedy. That more innocent road trips will leave even more youngsters and babies strewn across the road. Roads bloodied. People dead. Beer doesn’t enhance our lives or our society.”

He continued: “Beer brings out the worst in all of us…. beer goggles, liquid courage, liquid logic. ‘I’m OK to drive’ when you’re clearly hammered out of your mind! If Josh Brent didn’t have access to alcohol or own a car, he would not be in jail today, Jerry Brown would be alive.”

Beck went on to joke that NBC and the NFL failed to address the “beer culture” and “car culture” because the vast majority of commercials aired during football games are for beer and car companies. Then he took a shot at Costas’ hair.

“But Bob Costas and his incredibly natural looking hair color sat there silently. Why Bob? It could be bob was bought off by big beer or big car, I’m not sure which one it was. Maybe both of them,” Beck joked.

So in order to free Costas from the “chains that have been placed around his neck by corporate beer, car masters” Beck created a Twitter hashtag, #FreeBobCostas, so he would be able to apply the logic of his gun views to drinking and driving accidents.

“I want you to just hashtag #FreeBobCostas on Twitter,” he added. “If you want to see his free speech restored and the folly of his anti-gun logic on display on all other areas of life.”

Once he was done having fun, Beck went on to explain that society’s problems will never be solved through regulation and banning things, but by teaching personal responsibility.

Like I said, Blaze TV should have an SNL type show with skits. It would be a hit.

It would actually put me over the top and start paying for a subscription.
I love Beck’s humor on the radio, his TV show, not so much.
Does anyone else remeber the radio show he did years ago on Feb. 15 for men that forgot valentines day, and Beck took the blame? Funiest show I have ever heard. I was calling friends and even my wife to listen. It is when I first became a Beck show fan.

I Doubt it. FAKE-conservative/libertarian Beck outed himself as a progressive, by supporting progressive republicans during the 2012 race, while REJECTING AND SMEARING real conservatives. I doubt humor will renew his credibility. He’s as finished as his leftist republican party.

That’s a good idea. Would be nice if he got his network on directv and cable. Perhaps in the future.

This is one area where the left is light years ahead of us from the Saul Alinsky handbook. They are very good at using humor and ridicule to discredit conservatives.

I really hope you get this. I believe I know where you can purchase that radio skit. It is in the Glenn Beck Audio and Video store. Does this at all sound like what you are looking for: Quite possibly our favorite show of the year-the “Couple of the Year” presentation. We try and bail the slugs of our audience out of the doghouse for forgetting Valentine’s Day. Get the famous “8 months pregnant” call, the “I love you” pauses, and even a never before aired call of Glenn telling the truth to an unsuspecting wife, whose husband blew it. Plus, a bonus track from 2004′s show, where technical problems made it possible for the wife to hear us laughing at her. Needless to say, she hangs up. Guaranteed to make you feel like a slime ball just for listening, but also guaranteed to make you NEVER forget Valentine’s Day again. If this is what you are looking for then here is the link: http://glennbeck.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=29940_39632&pc=BXCD025X I hope this was of help to you.

Agreed. Beck’s humor is what got me interested in listening/watching. Wit’s his best asset, and now that I’m used to Beck humor– comparitively Rush Limbaugh sounds very boring/ repetitive. Conservatives (the choir) don’t need preaching, or explaining, since we are the ones that “get it” and just want a Laugh-outlet. This humor could draw in more young peeps to be conservative without knowing it.

The only difference between Saturday Night Live and Glen Beck TV is SNL is funnier, has better actors, is more relevant and free.

I may be an old timer but there was a time when Beck was a leader among men. Now he is just another boring SNL nobody. Is this clip and a bottle of urine the best his TV show has to offer?

The problem obviously isn’t with guns, beer, cars, or any “objects”. The problem is man’s sinful heart, e.g. Cain murdered Abel. The only solution to that is Jesus Christ.

“MUST WATCH: GLENN BECK SPOOFS BOB COSTAS, BLASTS ‘BEER DRINKING AND CAR DRIVING CULTURE’’”
Yeah, those two are totally analogous…except:
    (1) Cars are more-or-less necessary in the modern world (certainly motorized transportation is), whereas guns strictly speaking are not (and neither is alcohol for that matter).
    (2) Cars were not designed for the express purpose of killing other living things, whereas guns are. And in fact, guns are FAR more cost-efficient at doing so.

Now I’m not saying the we SHOULDN’T have a cultural value of gun ownership–on the contrary, I think it has several useful functions, the main one being that it makes illegitimate exercises of political authority more expense and thus present a higher bar to it occurring, because where it does, it always runs the risk of causing citizens to raise hell in a far more violent and destructive fashion that would be the case if there was not a culture of private ownership. That’s a benefit one might reasonably decide is worth the cost-benefit trade-off of increased risks of more deadly violence, and that is a GOOD reason for the cultural value. But as usual, Glenn Beck wouldn’t know how to construct a good argument if it was staring at him from his chalkboard, and paints things in the most simplistic absolutist terms–”guns have ABSOLUTELY no costs, and ONLY benefits.” Please–either say something intelligent, or stop wasting everyone’s time.

Oh whatever Archon. Quite frankly I couldnt tolerate reading your useless drivel all the way to the end. When you liberals take away private gun ownership you will see the violent crime rates quadruple. The only thing holding back some thug from robbing a 7-11 is that the guy behind the counter might pull a gun. Liberal ******** can’t figure it out that criminals will ALWAYS have access to weaponry. So yeah, smart move! Disarm America! That’ll solve it! Gosh darn those awful guns. Liberals aren’t worth the price of a postage stamp. I can’t resist this for a deserved leftie..

The purpose of the weapons/objects is irrelevant. The fact is that there are far more people killed in car accidents than from law-abiding citizens with firearms. Also, guns may be more or less unnecessary, but you don’t need a gun to kill someone. The point is that taking away guns will not solve our problems. The only thing that solves it is through a stronger, more morally-structured culture. This is a cultural problem, not a gun problem.
