Man Shot ‘Execution Style’ on Busy NYC Street (Update: Victim Dies)

A 31-year-old man has died after being shot in the head in a bustling area of midtown Manhattan, WNBC-TV reports. An uncommon crime considering that the area in which the murder was committed is near Columbus Circle, a popular destination in New York City, the Monday afternoon shooting is certainly shocking.

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. near 58th and Seventh. The victim died shortly after arriving at Roosevelt Hospital Center. Police report that the suspect immediately fled the scene of the attack and has not yet been located by authorities.

According to WNYW-TV, a gunman wearing dark clothes approached the victim before shooting him “execution style.” Then, he stepped into the passenger side of a vehicle and drove off; police are subsequently looking for two suspects. The New York Times City Room blog has more about the crime:

Benny Harris, who sells pedicab tours on the corner near the shooting, said he heard a single shot and saw pedestrians scatter.

Mr. Harris, 44, immediately sought help from a nearby fire station and went with first responders to the man, who was lying on 58th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. “He looked dead,” Mr. Harris said.

Another man who was on the corner at the time said he heard a single shot but never saw the shooter.

WCBS-TV adds that the victim was reportedly in a vehicle at the time of the shooting and that authorities are purportedly seeking a car, which was used by the perpetrators to escape the scene.

Individuals who were present when the event unfolded are corroborating police claims that the suspect drive up in a car, shot the man in the head and then sped away. According to some witnesses, the car may be a gray or Lincoln MKZ.

  From NY Post : “The victim, Brandon Lincoln Woodard, 31, of Los Angeles, was approached from behind by his killer and shot once in the back of the head, according to NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.
  
  “The victim was walking westbound on West 58th street in front of St. Thomas Choir School when a male black, unknown age, in a dark coat, dark hood and khaki pants began walking westbound behind the victim,” said Browne. “The shooter came up at close range and shot the victim one time in the back of the head. The shooter got into the passenger front seat of that awaiting vehicle, which had the driver in it and they drove out of the parking space and proceeded eastbound toward Seventh Avenue on West 58th street, The shooter appeared calm and determined to carry out the execution-style shooting, according to cops.

Important as it indicates Farrakhan, Foxx, the NBP, and so on are stirring murderous race hate against whites. Clearly a black man shot a random white tourist because hatred is being drilled into him. Actors are proud they ‘killed all the whites’, with similar statements coming from hate mongers like Farrakhan and the NBP.   Story gets even more convoluted. Some report this may have been a paid hit by those he is having disputes with back in California. One wonders why the media rushes to get stories out before anything is known. In any case it does not eliminate the fact that the violence spewing race war starting hate mongers need to be shut down by law, assuming this society is even remotely still somewhat civilized.

Who’d a thunk it? Violence in New York City? I thought Bloomberg outlawed violence right along with soda and trans fats? Another example of liberal policy gone wrong. Maybe if the guy who got shot was allowed to own a gun, he would be alive today.

This guy may have died but he died in NYC and had a smaller amount of soft-drinks in his system and a smaller amount of sugar and transfats. He died a healthy man. Oh…and he had the bonus of having died in a city that bands guns. So…he could not have defended himself he had the chance to. What a lucky guy.

I am very sorry for the man that got shot – terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with his family

I have one question: I thought NYC has the most strengient gun rules in the USA? That sounds like a safe place to live – I think I’ll move there…. today! NOT!!

I want to make sure the blame for the crime is placed squarely on the correct parties. It was the bullet’s fault for slipping into the cylinder thence travel upto the breach of the barrel. It was the guns fault, within a fit of rage, for going off because the gun acted on its own…. with malace and strength decided, on its own…. to pull the trigger.

Every day over 4,000 guns are used by citizens to stop a crime. That’s 1.46 million incidents each year that end at the hand of a citizen with a gun compared to 30,000 people that are killed by guns every year. Sounds like there are a lot of responsible gun owners out there.
