Watch the Heartbreaking Music Video Starring a Minnesota Teenager Facing Just Months to Live
Zach Sobiech, 17, likely has just months to live.
After being diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2009, he endured multiple surgeries and months of chemo therapy. However, the cancer still spread to his pelvis and lungs. There are no known effective treatments remaining.
Instead of giving up all hope, the Lakeland, Minn. native has turned to music as a way to say goodbye to his friends and family, though his music and story will likely touch thousands of people’s lives as well.
But Zach’s story is much more inspirational coming directly from him. In a music video for a song called “Clouds,” written by Zach and posted on YouTube, he tells his touching story:
“As Zach fights to live, he remains the same joyful soul he has always been. He still smiles as brightly as he did before cancer – it just means more now,” reads the video’s description.
Here are the lyrics to Zach’s song “Clouds”:
Well I fell down, down, down
Into this dark and lonely hole
There was no one there to care about me anymore
And I needed a way to climb and grab a hold of the edge
You were sitting there holding a ropeAnd we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won’t be long now, it won’t be long nowWhen I get back on land
Well I’ll never get my chance
Be ready to live and it’ll be ripped right out of my hands
Maybe someday we’ll take a little ride
We’ll go up, up, up and everything will be just fineAnd we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dearIt won’t be long now, it won’t be long now
If only I had a little bit more time
If only I had a little bit more time with youWe could go up, up, up
And take that little ride
And sit there holding hands
And everything would be just right
And maybe someday I’ll see you again
We’ll float up in the clouds and we’ll never see the endAnd we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now

I hope you know Jesus as your savior. If you do not, find some one that can tell you how to be saved.

Posted on December 11, 2012 at 7:38amI may not have months to go, but I can see his position from where I am. I try to stay that up, but it’s hard. I’ll have to find some way to put that song in my phone, I guess favorites on You tube? I’ve got stage 4 breast cancer, but it’s ON the bone, not IN the bone. Still, they have no treatments left and I’ve turned to natural remedies. B17 seems to be holding it at bay, along with massive doses of D3.

Posted on December 11, 2012 at 3:49amZach, good song. Now quickly get it available to download from iTunes, Amazon, etc. You DO have a a little more time so start touring, get groupies, get laid, let the success get to your head (Kanye West Syndrome), do more coke than Rick James, be a rolling stone, show up to your concerts three hours late, say you are more influential than Jesus Christ, hit rock bottom, get into rehab, get out of rehab, star on VH1′s “Zach: Behind the Blow”, write a new song about what you learned, reach out to your fan base, have the song be a hit, go on tour, get more groupies, get laid, etc!!!

Posted on December 10, 2012 at 11:00pmTouching, well done, and performed heroically by a fella who is facing his future the way most of us wish we will when we know what is coming. I tip my hat to you, and to the Lady whom I assume is your Mother. She’s obviously supporting you in this trying time. My wife and were very moved by this. Your in our prayers.
