You’ll Never Believe the Way This Bed, Bath, & Beyond Employee Allegedly Quit: ‘This Is for Fat Fu**s’

Most everyone has, at some point in their lives, fantasized about quitting their lousy, dead-end job with a profanity-laced farewell speech.

Bed, Bath, & Beyond Employee Allegedly Includes Letter of Resignation on a Microwave Price Tag

Seriously, there have been entire movies dedicated to this deeply cherished desire. (YouTube)

But while most of us snap back to reality with a loud, “that’s a stupid idea,” a few actually follow through.

Case in point: This Bed, Bath, & Beyond employee who allegedly decided to announce that they were quitting via a price tag.

From far away, it doesn’t look like much:

But upon a closer inspection:

Bed, Bath, & Beyond Employee Allegedly Includes Letter of Resignation on a Microwave Price Tag

(Courtesy Reddit)

Yep, as you can clearly see, the tag reads:

THIS IS FOR FAT F___S [the full word has been considerately blurred out by our friends at the Consumerist]
• Digital control panel
• MY BOSS IS A PR**K
• Comes with extender ring kit
• IM QUITTING TODAY
• 12.5″H x 15.5″W

Tell us how you really feel.

The tag was posted on Reddit by someone who said they spotted it while shopping.

It was an inappropriate thing to do, but it was funny. As a “fat f” myself, I found it hard to take offense. Still, I expect this former employee will pay a price a bit steeper than he expected to, a price higher than the joke was worth.

    Greetings Blaze Editor(s),

“Case in point: This Bed, Bath, & Beyond employee who allegedly decided to announce that they were quitting via a price tag.”

The employee singular (“employee”) did not become plural (“they”) by announcing that he or she was quitting. If this did happen then it is a singular form of reproduction which has escaped the scrutiny of scientists to this day.

I don’t like getting all grammar Nazi on regular contributing posters, but is it too much to ask of editors, or writers publishing for profit, to proofread an article from time to time?

It’s the ghetto form of ‘they.” It’s used when the gender of the singular subject is unknown.

However, if that was the intent, then “were” should have been changed to “was.” In true ghetto it should have read:

Case in point: This Bed, Bath, & Beyond employee who allegedly decided to announce that they was quitting via a price tag.

      … or something…

In the wunnerful world of ‘tweetin’ an textin,’ grammar – spelling and coherent thought communication are so — ‘yesterday.’ If the ‘machine’ can’t do it — it didn’t happen — Pays good tho’ :-) Ask *most* anyone under 30, “What’s a metaphor?” and the response is most likely, “To keep cows in.” Eng-rish is such a difficult language…

      It’s the “singular they”

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singular_they

It’s acceptable to use, and is very common when referring to someone of indeterminate gender. It’s a far more elegant alternative to he/she, him/her, etc.

Just saying, it might behoove to to learn what the heck you’re talking about before going off on a Grammar Nazi rant.

Wrong. It’s still a plural word but being used in a singular context, so “were” is appropriate while “was” is not.

      1. It is acceptable usage
(used with an indefinite singular antecedent in place of the definite masculine he or the definite feminine she ): Whoever is of voting age, whether they are interested in politics or not, should vote.
      2. Usage of words is in a constant flux. That is why your outdated dictionary is leading you astray.
      3. Shame on any of you demeaning younger generations. You want us to give you respect then you better show respect back. I am ashamed of your dividing nature, I am glad that you are not my parents with such an attitude.
      4. Who cares about this anyways? You understood the point. This should be your new slogan: “I don’t always correct grammar, but when i do I am incorrect, and do so publicly.”

I remember when I hit my first stateside duty assignment after ‘Nam we had this wonderful thing called “IG” Inspections (Army Inspector General) where they inspected everything from your paperwork, gear, your barracks and your person.

We (our Battalion) were standing in our Class-A Dress Uniforms awaiting the Post Commander and an IG Officer (some LTC) and the Post CSM. Finally my Company’s turn and they got to the Platoon next to mine and all of a sudden… SCREAMING, YELLING, ADMONISHMENT by someone (I couldn’t tell by whom at that time as we were all at Attention and facing front.

Then out of the corner of my eye I saw the Post Commander and the rest of the brass (to include my Company Commander) racing out of the Gym (still lots of’ SCREAMING). The Post CSM had a guy by the scruff of the neck.

We were all called to Attention and stayed that way for hours. Found out later that this Specialist 5 (SP5 fom the Motor Pool) had a string hanging out of his “Blouse” (Class-A Jacket). From what I understand… the Post Commander yanked the string and attached to it (hidden just inside wear you button down) a note was attached that read… “FU ! I’m 5 days from ETS and this is BS !

Lmao…. we paid for this guy’s PO’dness for ages. I Think they ETS’d him that day and I’m sure it wasn’t honorable. My Company went through a Class-A inspection every day for weeks on end.

There is a reason that you rarely ever hear any of the big name journalists or radio talkers ever mention The Blaze.

It’s almost as if all the liberals and former HuffPo people that Glenn hired for The Blaze are sabotaging the site.

Many of stories that get run on the front page are absurd and downright ridiculous.
Many of the credible stories that get run have outrageous headlines … almost as bad as the National Inquirer.

Two ways to see it. Bosses that have to ‘babysit’ the workers because there are way too many people who think they should get paid the ‘big bucks’ while not doing a damm thing except think work is ‘play time’. Then there are the bosses that aren’t even old enough to drink who get their jollies by making the older workers lives hell, and giving the easy work – and weekends off to their ‘younger’ friends.

I can see why a lot of workers (and bosses) ‘snap’. I spent plenty of my years working under “teenage managers” who “told” me when I could and could not speak. But I will tell you by going through it first hand, I will NEVER be a department manager and have to ‘babysit’ again! I got to a point in my bodyshop that I didn’t even tell a worker he was fired. He just pulled up in the morning to find his tool box was neatly placed outside waiting for him!

I now work harder and more hours than ever, rarely get paid for the overtime I work, and my boss is the biggest a$$ around…….it’s ME. You think you want to take the world by the balls and own your own business? Best grow a pair, because you’re gonna need them!

I know those “bosses” who are barely old enough to have gone through puberty. As an “older” (40+) new hire at a discount store, I worked with/for a number of little girls who thought that because they held a position of alleged authority, they could stand at the service desk and make fun of me behind my back rather than help me with a cash register issue. Well, it was a second job, and I decided, 2 weeks in, that I could work one overtime shift at my hospital job and make more money than withstanding 2 weeks of their garbage. So I quit. I work with mostly younger people at my “real” job, and we get along fantastic. I have no problem with working for or with someone younger than I am, but these little gumchewers were insufferable. And not only to me, but also to my 16-yo daughter when she worked at the same store, so apparently their problem wasn’t with older workers, it was with ANY workers who weren’t in their clique.

Every time I hear someone quit their job with a big bird to the ex-boss, I always think “I wonder what the boss did to deserve it.” I don’t automatically assume that it’s just the employee who is wrong, because just statistically that’s impossible. I’m so tired of the employer being worshiped as if incapable of being the jerk. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Aye, it can go both ways. I don’t prefer the free market because I think it’s filled with saints, rather, that I can at least escape when things get too overbearing. Imagine a world where everything was owned by the government, and THEN getting the world’s worst boss to work for. Might as well go home and slit the wrists at that point.

A ***** boss is a ***** boss no matter how you quit. I quit my last job because my boss withheld (read stole) over $4000 of my hard-earned wages over the course of a (contract) year, and when she thought she might get away with it, decided to attempt to make it retroactive to the previous year as well, telling me I owed her another $3500 for overpayment for the previous year. I disagreed. After several months of “negotiations”, she would not budge.

My lawyer told me she was operating way outside of the labor laws, AND COULD GET AWAY WITH IT, BUT ONLY IF I continued to work for her (that would imply consent). I could only recover my wages by quitting, billing her for my back pay, and then suing her for them if she didn’t deliver. She paid up within two weeks after I billed her. Guess she didn’t want to explain it to the judge.

She was “applying” these same “policies” to others on the staff, but for some reason, I was the only one who challenged her (my lawyer told me I could only advocate for myself, and I know she forbid the others to talk to me because I suddenly became a pariah. No one would come near me. She didn’t want me to tell them she was breaking the laws and ripping them off by illegally withholding wages that she had no intention of paying…..as per her new “policy”.) I took my lawyer’s advice. They were on their own.

I, however, honored my side of the contract and completed all projects and paperwork before I left. It didn’t matter, thou

And while filling out the application, there will be this little space asking for employment history, and references. I”m sure the “boss” at Bed, Bath, and Beyond will give this go-getter a glowing review.

There’s no way to know. There are really bad bosses, and really bad employees. It would either take more information about the incident, or more knowledge about the boss and employee both to make that call though.

Plus, your typical OWS entitlement type of person likely won’t be employed to begin with, let alone be able to quit a job.
