The fact that certain Detroit residents have become desperate should come as a surprise to no one. Yet, every now and then, a story comes along that reminds you just how bad things are in the Motor City.
“Scrappers are targeting an historic cemetery in southwest Detroit. They’ve been stealing copper doors and other items from mausoleums at Woodmere Cemetery,” My Fox Detroit reports.
“They’re the final resting place for beloved mothers, fathers, sons and daughters. Now, several mausoleums are vandalized, damaged by disrespectful thieves,” the report adds.
“I always enjoy looking at mausoleums because they’re so beautiful,” Pat Krause, a Michigan resident, told My Fox Detroit. “As I was passing yesterday, I noticed the doors missing, I stopped, and noticed the insides vandalized as well.”
The cemetery, which dates back as far as 1867, has definitely seen better days.
“Some of Detroit’s most prominent families are buried here. Their crypts sat untouched for decades, until now,” My Fox Detroit notes. “We discovered broken windows, smashed marble and doors to more than a dozen graves stolen, most likely for scrap.”

They keep pushing unions, and a failed social problem that got them into this mess. If I hear this Pres. state how the auto bail saved Detroit I will scream.

Cemeteries, churches, abandoned buildings, buildings under construction, farms, and even the electric companies own warehouses. Anywhere you can find copper or another useful metal. Dec. 11, 2012 at 1:59amBoth my parents left instructions that their bodies be cremated when they died. Our father died 14 years before our mother, so we didn’t bury his ashes. When our mother died, we co-mingled their ashes and buried them under a tree on one sister’s property.
Our mother had requested to be buried under this tree. One day, all of us five sister’s will also be gone, but we won’t ever have to worry about anyone desecrating our parent’s grave.

Here in Oregon, they steal freeway barriers, bleacher seats, etc. Why are they not somewhat responsible for buying it? One of our towns here had trouble w/vandals stealing manhole covers and selling them to scrapyards. I sell my aluminum cans to scrap, and there is a sign abt having to have paperwork on scrap copper and brass. Not all scrapyard follow the rules though.

The Super Expensive Jewelry was always out in the open. No Plexiglass. No Security Guards. Yet nobody stole. I watched with great Hate for what I witnessed these people do to Detroit. I WATCHED IT ALL. I still continue to Watch it all. I’m SICK just thinking about the Thousands of True story’s I could tell you. Houses were given to Low Life’s. The training on how to keep them up was not given. If it would have been. It still would not have been done. All their time was spent Robbing and Killing White People. I’m not out to offend anyone. I Was and I am here in Detroit. I tell only the Truth. I guess I’m the only person that has experienced reverse discrimination my Entire Life!

I live in deep South Texas where my white skin is not helpful. I can’t get sit down interviews for which I am fully qualified because of my surname and my lack of Spanish lang skills even where none should be required (like a community college where classes are held in English).

Dec. 11, 2012 at 5:39amBoth of your stories are heartbreaking. It is so sad. It’s not race, I believe. I grew up in San Jose, California where there was a very high Mexican population. My dad had several Mexican men working for him. They were so kind and respectful and worked very hard to help their families. Back then, about 15% of my classmates were Mexican. There was no separation or exclusion (although it did happen for a short time in Jr. High, I think everyone was just trying to embrace their culture/test their boundaries-I know it sounds cheesy). It went back to ‘normal’ in High School. It’s the environment of entitlement that’s been created by liberalism.

It’s La Raza-type angry folks who are so unsure of themselves, they cannot act fairly toward folks they perceive as different or threatening. I have 2 masters degrees but was unable to provide book knowledge or experience at the comm college. Pity…I have good rapport w/young adults, too.

I hope these vandals come to realize, that these are the resting places of someone’s loved ones. What if they were to visit their Mother’s grave and find that her grave had been disturbed? How would they like it?

It’s a sign of the times. If you have not read the historical books of the Old Testament, you might want to read them now! Read Judges thru 2 Kings. Use a good modern language translation while you’re at it to get the full effect of what is being said abt just how low humanity can sink when it quits God.
