Mother Kayla Peterson Murdered by Teens for Telling Them to Get a Job When They Ask for Cigarette

A young mother was senselessly murdered by three teens in western Pennsylvania after she told them to “get a job” and stop roaming the streets when they asked her fiancée for a cigarette, police say.

Beaver Falls police have charged 14-year-olds Todavia Cleckley and Marcus Velasquez and 13-year-old Kyle Goosby Jr. with criminal homicide and other charges in Saturday’s shooting of 22-year-old Kayla Peterson.

She was shot at about 3:30 p.m. that day and died in a Pittsburgh hospital two hours later.

Goosby is in custody and his attorney says he was just “in the wrong place at the wrong time” when Velasquez – identified as the gunman by police – opened fire. Beaver Falls Police Chief Charles Jones says officers are still searching for the other two suspects.

WTAE interviewed Peterson’s fiancée after the tragedy. Holding their 23-month old baby, Bill Bailey said Peterson’s last words after being shot in the chest were how she loved him and their daughter.

“She didn’t even move when it happened,” he said, measuring his voice. “She just said, ‘I can’t feel my legs.’ She wanted to lay down, so I laid her down.”

Shockingly, Bailey says they knew the young neighborhood boys, and he’s played basketball with one of their fathers.

Brock Edwards, who was working at the convenience store where Bailey bought the cigarettes, weighed in: “My friend came in and got cigarettes, and three young kids followed him. They kept following him and asking him for a cigarette…”

He concluded, according to WTAE:

“The next thing you know, they just pull out a gun and shoot for no reason. It was just over a cigarette…Now, my friend lost his girlfriend — an amazing, amazing girl, and she was such a good mother, too — and now her child has to grow up without her mother being there.”

Philly is not anywhere near Western Pennsylvania nor Pittsburgh. I know that’s where this kind of thing usually happens but accuracy in reporting would help. The Blaze is slacking, on grammar, typos, and now simple facts. Sloppy.

That is the 1st line of defense against truancy. You can only fund so many truancy officers (2nd line of defense) without taking the food out of your won children’s mouths. Do you get that?
  
  On the other side you have any number of apologists. I know I got in trouble for poor grades & there was a father in the house to make the punishment more than empty words.

WE’VE ALLOWED punk teachers to teach punks. WE need to clean our schools of Socialist and Communist and Punks – NOW. WE need to prosecute these punks to the point that they are scared silly at the thought of going to jail. Sorry, can’t help it now, punks… you were not taught correctly, we know, but hey….there were Millions of other kids who went through same educational process and didn’t turn total punk…so you who do have to pay the price.
I hope the MEN of this country will stand up and exercise authority over any punkdom they see.
These kids, even the one “in the wrong place at the wrong time” need to be made EXAMPLES of.

THE PUNK’S PARENTS need to pay for the college education of the children killed by their Punk Kid.
If they are illegal they need to be shipped back to where ever – confiscate everything of value they have here to help compensate the victim’s child/children.

  Pa still has the death penalty….mind you they don’t use it much. You can get the stats on the numbers on the Dept of Corrections website. I couldn’t get it to load, but I know they had a stay of execution back in Nov. sometime.

This story is just tragic!! I could make a joke about the lethality of cigarettes but this is just to sad a story. You run the woulda, coulda, shoulda’s, though your head about how this may have been avoided or if the girl or boyfriend would have had a gun as well, but in the end I think that sometimes really awful, sad things just happen to decent people sometimes. :( Now that baby is going to grow up without her mommy. :( Just so sad!

terrible story though, this woman was murdered for nothing, by a child with a gun….
the parents need to be looked at to try to figure out how the child got a gun in the first place.

I am very pro gun, but a 13 year old had a gun while walking around down town? come on now parents…. Yes I owned guns at that age but they were locked in my fathers gun safe and I was not allowed to use with or touch them if I was not with my father

  I doubt they got the gun from their parents; probably from someone in their gang. Responsible gun owners keep their guns in a safe, locked, people like you and me. This is so very wrong, especially if they get tried as juveniles, are deemed “delinquent” and then set free at age 18. Very sad day for America. They’re no different than Trayvon Martin, get what they want or get violent.
  
  My prayer list is getting longer and longer… sigh… well, at least they can’t take personal prayer away from us, and it cannot be quantified enough to tax it!

  One is dual wielding handguns, the other is flashing a gang sign. I had little doubt of their race (something this savage at the listed time of day is not normally the providence of smart killers or sociopaths), but their leaning is ever so obvious in those pictures. Hell, the magnum the kid is holding in that pic is bigger than his head!
