Abortion Advocates Fume Over Dry Cleaner’s Pro-Life Coat Hangers: ‘Worst Marketing Decision Ever’

A pro-choice blogger is calling a dry cleaner out for the business’ pro-life messaging. Why, you ask? Because the anti-abortion advertising is being placed on wire coat-hangers. The blogger, Robin Marty, posted her thoughts on the RH Reality Check web site, an outlet devoted to upholding abortion rights, calling the action the “worst marketing decision ever.”

The decision by Springdale Drycleaners in Cincinnati, Ohio, to place the words “Choose Life” on the coat hangers is apparently nothing new. Marty describes the ad campaign in detail:

Springdale Drycleaners of Cincinnati, Ohio, has been etching “Choose Life”ads on wire coat hangers used to hang dry-cleaning.

What’s worse is that this seems to be an ongoing effort. Reports of the “choose life” coat hangers already were on the internet back in March of 2011, when Joe.My.God posted a picture of the hanger then. And before that on Regretsy in 2010. So despite over two years of attention, the business continues to think this is an excellent cross-advertising campaign. In fact, the practice was losing them customers as far back as August of 2010, but still the dry-cleaner continues to use hangers as a place to offer inappropriate propaganda.

As NARAL Pro-Choice Wisconsin said on Facebook, it’s a reminder of why we will never let them make us go back.

Obviously, some find the choice of venue for the advertising problematic, considering that self-induced abortions have purportedly been undertaken, particularly when the practice was not legal in the United States, using wire hangers. Despite the furor, Springdale Cleaners is sticking by its decision.

“I think it’s the perfect place to advertise a pro-life message,” owner Paul Dehler said in an interview with The Huffington Post.

Despite defending the action, he noted that he has no vested interest in the abortion debate — and that he placed the ads for his sister, who is a pro-life advocate. Dehler began publishing the ads six years ago when his granddaughter was a baby. While some customers dislike the hangers, that hasn’t swayed the owner’s actions.

“Some customers have said they don’t like the hangers, and in some cases I’ve lost their business,” Dehler admitted. “But I’d like to think that I’ve gained more customers with these hangers than I’ve lost.”

  I am really really confused. How is an ad with the word ‘choose’ in it considered ‘anti-choice’. They are simply lobbying for which side of the choice that they prefer. It actually sounds like it is very much a pro-choice ad. What is wrong with the Progressive mind? They don’t seem to use the brain that ‘God’ gave them. Maybe that is it, they refuse to acknowledge that they have a brain for fear that they will be considered hypocritical.

For thousands of years those cells have been coming out in 9 months as people, assuming they are not murdered by people like you. In fact doctors say it’s good for the baby’s development if you talk to them while they’re in the womb, i implore you to gather up some of your body’s ‘cells’. try talking to them and see if it improves them somehow, then you’ll see the difference ;) in my opinion, i go with the law of the land. It just doesn’t make sense to me, that they let people abort for convenience… i mean they came up with all these reasons why it ‘could’ be necessary, but then just let people go crazy with it. Even after it was proven that it is infact a person with their own heartbeat and their own DNA. when i say necessary, i mean like the baby has no brain, the mother and child might die, rape, not just cause of financial or public insecurity you know? You’d be surprised about how good medical science has gotten at saving the mother, but idk if it’s perfected. My twin died when I was born and my mom never told me about it, she told my wife and then my wife eventually told me. My mom never told me because some things are better left unsaid when you love someone enough, now that i’m older i wish i waited for the surprise in heaven. I’m saying this because there’s no way you could ever forget about some things, but that doesn’t mean you can’t except what life gives you and learn to love it.

You people go to great lengths not to correctly define what a baby is in your arguments because you know damn well or should know damn well that an embryo is not a baby. You people haven’t a clue when neurological functions come into play but luckily for the rest of us, not still living in the bronze age, science does know because they can measure neurological activity.

Abortion comes down to the approximate time higher neurological functions are developing. Exactly where would a dry cleaner advertise other than on a hanger. People get so testy when you point out the fact they approve of murdering babies. Don’t want the message, don’t use the dry cleaner.

If I used dry cleaners, I’d frequent his establishment.

  Personally, as a follower of Christ, I do believe that everyone should have a CHOICE. However, I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THEIR CHOICE and I DON’T WANT THEM TO FORCE ME TO (govt funding of abortions).
  
  So, since every person has a right to choose between whether they want to serve Jesus or Satan (there is no in-between, SAYS GOD), then let them have their evil abortions. JUST MAKE THEM PAY FOR IT THEMSELVES WITHOUT TAXPAYER OR GOVT ASSISTANCE, then they can face God on Judgement Day and explain THE CHOICES THEY MADE, ALL ON THEIR OWN.

The dry cleaning business will experience a more intelligent customer base as the liberal / pro-abortion customers continue to leave: kind of like seperating the goats from the sheep. There may also be an increase in God’s blessings for this business and family. Those cuatomers that are leaving allow themselves to be offended. Thinking / rational Americans are horrified that the unborn continue to be killed. May God help and forgive America.

No, no–see, they only have to use coat-hangers when pro-life policies SUCCEED (so I guess it’s actually a brilliantly insidious marketing strategy, since demand for their hangers will go up if their policies are put in place). That’s a major positive point in favor of rejecting the pro-life position–fewer coat-hanger abortions.

  Hey ‘Turd Archon’, it is quite telling of the state of someone’s mind (by sane people of course) when, as far as I know, a child, the most precious thing in life, what teaches us all maturity, selflessness, true complete love, that we protect and try to make the world better for THEM, not us (because of love and concern), yes it is quite telling when an adult would not error on the side of caution even if they truly didn’t know one way or the other (which is a lie, those who don’t know only don’t know by the lies of those false teachers of murder but in their hearts ALWAYS know). Some refuse to acknowledge their hearts beacause of selfish wickedness and these are they who lie and say they love life, protect it, and “care”. They are self-loathing, rightous-hating (because it calls into question their evil deeds), and in the gall of bitterness. The worst of us all, beyond serial killers, pychopaths, sociopaths…because they support the murder of children and are proud of it, they would support any sin in the end, infirm in spirit, ripe for the destroyer to sift them as chaff.

Advertising and messaging on coat hangers is nothing new – Dry cleaners do it all the time – for lots of different causes and issues.

It really doesn’t matter where the Pro-Life message is or how it’s delivered, obama’s bloodthirsty abortionists will always take offense. It takes a truly demented, irrational and unstable person to be offended by a message in support of HUMAN LIFE.

  In the past 39 years, more than 49 million babies have been killed by abortionists compared to five abortion doctors.
  
  Now, murder is murder no matter who is doing it, but let’s not try and compare apples to apples. It’s a bit dishonest. When you live by the sword, you often die by the sword.

The double standards in this country are what is going to drive us deeper into this ‘cultural/cold civil war’.

Now I got called all kinds of names for not supporting the NC license plate.

However on this one the business owner has every right to do this if they so choose.

If you dont like it get your damn clothes cleaned somewhere else.

  If you don’t like the Choose Life license plates in NC (where I live) then don’t buy one!!! They have license plates for everything else…Save the Sea Turtles, Shag dancing, Watermelon!! I can’t believe somebody hasn’t said watermelon is racist!! Why does it bother you if I have a Choose Life tag?

  On last time. The state prints the tag and the hanger is printed by a private company.
  Put on a bumper sticker and your good. You still get your mesage out but dont use the state to do it.
