Rep. Jim Moran’s son Patrick, who was caught on video discussing how to commit voter fraud, pleaded guilty Wednesday to assaulting his girlfriend outside a Washington, D.C. bar, the Washington City Paper reported.

According to a police report, Moran and his girlfriend were fighting outside The Getaway around 1:23 a.m. on Dec. 1 over Moran talking to another woman inside. Moran allegedly then grabbed his girlfriend and slammed her head into the metal trash can cage in front of the bar.

Police described Moran’s girlfriend as “bleeding heavily from her nose and also observed that her nose and right eye were extremely swollen.” She was transported to a nearby hospital, and a medical technician informed police that her nose seemed to be broken and that she had a skull fracture under her right eye.

According to the City Paper, Moran was arrested for felony domestic violence assault, but pleaded the charge down to simple assault and was sentenced to probation.

Rep. Moran, a Virginia Democrat, referred to his son and his girlfriend as “good kids” in a statement to the City Paper and said he hopes their privacy will be respected.

“They look forward to putting this embarrassing situation behind them,” Moran said.

Patrick Moran served on his father’s re-election campaign staff until October, when conservative activist James O’Keefe released video showing Moran discussing how to commit voter fraud with an undercover operative. Police subsequently opened a criminal investigation into the matter.
