PORTLAND, Ore. (TheBlaze/AP) — The gunman who killed two people and himself in a shooting rampage at an Oregon mall was 22 years old and used a stolen rifle from someone he knew, authorities said Wednesday. But in the days leading up to the attack, Roberts quit his job, sold his possessions and acted “numb,” according those close to him.
Jacob Tyler Roberts had armed himself with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and had several fully loaded magazines when he arrived at a Portland mall on Tuesday, said Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts.
The sheriff said the rifle jammed during the 22-year-old’s attack, but he managed to get it working again. He later shot himself. Authorities don’t yet have a motive but don’t believe he was targeting specific people.
Two people – a 54-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man – were killed, and another, Kristina Shevchenko, 15, was wounded and in serious condition on Wednesday.
Roberts, wearing a hockey-style face mask, parked his 1996 green Volkswagen Jetta in front of the second-floor entrance to Macy’s and walked briskly through the store, into the mall and began firing randomly, police said.
He fatally shot Steven Mathew Forsyth of West Linn and Cindy Ann Yuille of Portland, the sheriff said.
Roberts then fled along a mall corridor and into a back hallway, down stairs and into a corner where police found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot, authorities said.

Roberts’ ex-girlfriend, Hannah Patricia Sansburn, 20, told ABC News that she couldn’t believe Roberts was actually the shooter.
“I don’t understand,” she said. “I was just with him. I just talked to him. I didn’t believe it was him at all. Not one part of me believed it.”
Sansburn said that Roberts recently quit his job at a gyro shop in downtown Portland and sold all of his stuff. He reportedly told her that he was moving to Hawaii. He had even purchased a ticket but it is unclear if he actually intended to move.

The more we learn about the brain the more questions there are. These drugs are powerful. Mix them with endless violence in movies, news media, terribly violent video games, and a deep sense of hopelessness and who’s surprised by the result? The video games are increasingly sophisticated 3D scenarios where the participants walk around with machine guns mowing people down. Most Hollyweird movies involve gun play. God has been totally and completely removed from every aspect of peoples lives possible. If someone says they’re sick on facebook people rarely say they’ll pray for them. Most people say weird stuff like “sending energy your way”. Many young people openly express hatred for God. One Indie band has a song where they just randomly start singing satan satan satan. I heard this girl mindlessly singing along to that once. Lost. Only God can recover this mess. The best I can do is stay out of His way when he starts cleaning house!

Dec. 13, 2012 at 7:38am1776 this is a direct result of his medications, my mother who was 79 at the time of my father’s death had a high level of anxiety, she was taken to a geriatrics Dr. and they prescribed Zoloft. Almost a year into her taking this medication she ran out and did not tell me, she didn’t feel it was necessary for me to know. Now fast-forward almost a year later mind you she uses a walker for assistance she start chasing me with a knife. When I found out she had gone 10 days without this Zoloft I called her doctor and was instructed to immediately go to the pharmacy and get the prescription refilled. Their reason for it was because she said she lived a good life 63 years with my father would only been gone for less than three years, to this day I regret them ever putting her on Zoloft. The results have been more depression and loss of cognitive thought which they are now trying to label it as Alzheimer’s, the question is could this be the reason why the explosion of Alzheimer’s starting so young in our populace.

paxil i forgot my wife name couldn’t remember what i was doing from one minute to the next
but that was better than another “antidepressant” that gave me cluster migraines and seizure
like symptoms my advice if your depressed try fixing your life i just needed a new wife

Dec. 12, 2012 at 8:33pmThat was one sick dude. Not sure what, and excuse the term, “triggered” his going off the deep end; but it is interesting that he stole the weapon. Not sure if he stole the magazines & ammo as well, or purchased extra mags & ammo; but apparently he had a rudimentary knowledge of the operation of an AR-15 (it’s not all that hard to figure out). It sounds like he may have at least 2-4 magazines, depending upon whether they are 20 round mags, or 30 round mags. Given the number of rounds reportedly fired (around 60, I believe), and there was one ejected magazine on the floor that probably occured when the weapon jammed….I’m thinking he probably had at least 4 magazines to cycle through; and given the number of rounds fired; he used most of his ammo by the time he decided to pop himself. With that said, and with no disrepect to the two whom have perished and the girl fighting for her life in the hospital; I am thankful the casualty count was not higher.
Too be honest, I was really hoping that a conceil & carry, armed shopper had taken that shooter down; but apparently the shooter did what many shooters do….they take themselves out. People who go down that road, should be a little more curtious….take themselves out first, not last.

The diagnosis du jour these days is bipolar and even when it used to be depression SSRI’s are handed out like chewing gum by the quacks. I can still remember a story where a lady using SSRI’s suddenly went berserk and stabbed her kids to death. Everyone who knew her couldn’t believe it. It wasn’t the only case. These drugs are powerful psychoactive agents. They are in such wide use that analysis of sewer water samples will always show positive for them. We do have zombies.
