‘That’s What Happens When You Criticize the Welfare State!’: Former Romney Adviser Smacked by Falling Set on Live TV

CNBC
Columbia University economist Glenn Hubbard was smacked by a falling set piece during a live CNBC appearance Wednesday morning.
The former economic adviser to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign was unfazed and had his wits about him enough to quip, “That’s what happens when you criticize the welfare state!”
Talking Points Memo has the clip below:
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Posted on December 12, 2012 at 4:28pmFrom Politifactbias:
Here’s the bottom line: Fiat plans to start building Jeeps in China. It doesn’t mean Jeep production will cease in the United States, but the Romney ad doesn’t claim otherwise. It does mean that the Chinese will assemble more than 25,000 Jeep vehicles per year (if sales trends do not shockingly reverse) that are currently shipped fully assembled overseas. That will affect American jobs.
These criticisms of the PolitiFact fact check are not new. They’ve appeared across the media from Forbes to the National and Policy Center and many places in between.
How does PolitiFact respond to the criticism? It ignores it and continues to publish stories that mislead about the Romney ad.
Ironic, isn’t it?

Posted on December 12, 2012 at 6:01pmYou are selling yourself short! come on! you’re smarter than this! Care to explain to me why Romney would run a campaign ad in a bitter swing state weeks before an election about GM’s plans to build jeeps in china for chinese people. Its obvious the connotations of the ad. Though it is factually accurate it is incredibly misleading!
Misleading definition: Giving the wrong idea or impression with intent to deceive.
Lie definition: a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive.

Posted on December 12, 2012 at 7:17pmYeah BrianL, real ironic. So ironic that the Chrysler CEO had to make a statement denying the falsehood Romney was spreading on the campaign trail which was that Chrysler was moving ALL jobs to China. So ironic that people, both in Ohio and nationwide, saw Romney’s campaign trail statement and his deceptive ad, saw this as the bottom of the barrel kind of politics. So ironic that Romney lost Ohio, partly because of this deceptive ad I’m sure.
Ohioans are not stupid, and they resented being treated as stupid.

Posted on December 12, 2012 at 5:15pmOLDSURFRAT… care to explain why its bs? or is it just something you don’t want to hear? Its simple really. right to work laws result in a loss of leverage from unions, Companies then can view the union contract as void and no longer have to live up to the standards set by the union, jobs, pay, etc etc. this allows corporations to seek much cheaper labor over seas. which they do. check out the correlation between the right to work acts and outsourcing since 1980.. Right to work is essentially a nail in the coffin to American manufacturing.

It is the right of Americans to either join a union or not to join. It is a basic Constitutional right, the right of Freedom Of Choice. For State, City or Federa Government to pass a law which requires a worker to join a Union just in order to have a job is nothing more than dictatorship. In Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Russia, Mao’s China all workers were required to be union members. The unions were government instituted and aided the government to keep track of the workers. The workers had no right to strike, bargain for wage and healthcare benefits what so ever.
While in the USA, at present, unions can bargain but how long before the central planners in Washington tell the workers how many hours they will work and what pay they will receive?
Forced unionization is totolianism!!! Freedom of choice is the American way!!!

Posted on December 13, 2012 at 1:43pmKeaton you are sadly mistaken. Unions are not the only manufacturing jobs left in America. If that was true then I guess the employees that work for my company don’t exist. What about Mercedes? Kia? Hyundai? Honda? Toyota? I guess they aren’t manufacturing anything either. All these companies have highly sought after jobs in RTW states. The south has become the new Detroit. Unions have run their course. We now have laws to protect us. Keep drinking the kool aid but don’t tell me that union companies are the only ones manufacturing any more. That is one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve read today.

Posted on December 13, 2012 at 11:16pmKeaton your young and dont know what you are talking about. Most everyone is moving to Texas. We are right to work. Business isnt strangled here like the Union states. So, we have jobs. The pay is lower but the cost of living is extremely lower. All right to work does is allow employers to hire anyone they want, and it allows me to quit anytime I want..negotiating for pay or madical etc. Is up to me and how valuable I personally am.. If I dont like it, I can start my own company and compete against them. If that is out of reach due to money or ability wherewithal etc. I can always start my own company in another field I can afford or compete in. I refuse to give dues to anyone like the Unions I see.

That’s appropriate. So Romney gets a liar award on an extremely questionable interpretation of the Jeep ad award by Politicfact and Politifact gets the worst fact-checker and liar award. Even Steven.

Posted on December 12, 2012 at 2:42pmUnder Obama we have seen the fall of personal responsibility!
JFK was somewhat conservative, he believed more in responsibility not living off the government and he hated FDR’s New Deal programs. He wrote in his diary:
“Mr. Roosevelt has contributed to the end of capitalism in our own country, although he would probably argue the point at some length. He has done this not through the laws which he sponsored or were passed during his presidency, but rather through the emphasis he put on rights rather than responsibilities.”

Really don’t care. After the Obama add on Romney supposedly killing a man’s life. This is nothing. That & all the Unemployment numbers have been revised down. they only have do it for 2 months. if there are further revisions than you have to wait for the yearly revision.
Besides Chrysler was sold to FiAT., The add has more truth in it than anything Obama ever said.
Rush went over the union pecking order. He covered those that have a seat at the table & those that don’t. All animals are equal except those that are more equal. How many people lost a good portion if their savings when Obma rewarded his UAW backers & get rid of the bondholders. Many of those bond holders were teachers unions. Obama saved GM by savaging other institutional investors like CalPers, teacher unions & others? Obama you hero that you pine for constantly wrecked contract law & awarded other people’s money to the UAW his backers. He saved no car company.
