It was created by Maulana Karenga, and was first celebrated in 1966–67.
In 1971, Karenga “was sentenced to one to ten years in prison on counts of felonious assault and false imprisonment”.[10] One of the victims gave testimony of how Karenga and other men tortured her and another woman. The woman claimed to have been stripped and beaten with an electrical cord. Karenga’s former wife, Brenda Lorraine Karenga, testified that he sat on the other woman’s stomach while another man forced water into her mouth through a hose.
Maulana Karenga created Kwanzaa in 1966 as the first specifically African-American holiday.[2] Karenga said his goal was to “give Blacks an alternative to the existing holiday and give Blacks an opportunity to celebrate themselves and their history, rather than simply imitate the practice of the dominant society

Now Catty, Christmas is not a European holiday. It celebrated in India, Syria, Ethiopia And by very many people who are not white, not European. It is inclusive. The original Santa Claus was Saint Nicholas of Myra. I am sure that living in Asia Minor around AD 300 he did not think of himself as white or Western European. Given Calvinist & some other Protestant criticism of Santa Claus & other European tradition grafted onto Christmas, Christmas can be totally without any reference to Europe which you so hate.

San Francisco police, seized laptops, a computer, videos, disks, and flash drives from Brinkin’s home, that contained “pornographic images that show children as young as 1 and 2 or 3 years old being sodomized and performing oral sex on adult men.”
Brinkin helped put together San Fancisco’s “Equal Benefits Ordinance” which became a model for “workplace equality”.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors was so thrilled with the work he’d done on behalf of “human rights” for homosexuals that they approved a “resolution declaring the week of Feb. 1, 2010, ‘Larry Brinkin Week’ in San Francisco. Dec. 13, 2012 at 7:49pmKwanzaa was “founded” in 1966 by Ronald McKinley Everett, aka., Maulana Karenga.
Everett was born in Maryland, but attended UCLA and USC. He co-founded with Hakim Jamal the “black nationalist and social change organization US” which means “Us Black people”. Currently he’s the Chair of the Africana Studies Department at California State University, Long Beach.
In 1971, Everett “was sentenced to one to ten years in prison on counts of felonious assault and false imprisonment”. A May 14, 1971, article in the Los Angeles Times described the testimony of one of the women victims:
“Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis’ mouth and placed against Miss Davis’ face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Everett, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said. They also were hit on the heads with toasters.”
Everett explained his actions by saying that one of the women he had tortured had attempted to assassinate him, but he had no evidence.
Folks, you can’t make this stuff up.

Dec. 14, 2012 at 1:03amWhat makes this all so friggin hilarious is that people keep trying to make it out to be some sort of ancient, sacred celebration of African Culture. Only three countries observe the holiday, and only one of those is in Africa. Granted, it might have borrowed some Swahili practices, mostly regarding the celebration of the Harvest, but if you ask most people of the Swahili culture about this holiday they would have no idea what you were talking about.
Sorry that you’re such a stick in the mud, but I find it funny that for all the hubbub about this holiday, hardly anyone knows a thing about it. Maybe they should take a page from Futurama and pass out the “What the Crap is Kwanza?” book as part of their sacred tradition.

Do you ever wonder why for 100 years blacks have complained that they were not included in the societal groups of American but for 50 of those years blacks have purposely separated themselves from society by forming groups that are NOT inclusive? Dec. 13, 2012 at 8:40pmDon’t blame the Beckerheads, this segment from Beck looks like it was written and produced by the Klan.
It is nothing more than a collection of crude race baiting jokes. And Beck wonders why minorites don’t line up and support him and his facisist, conservative causes.

Beck is ‘white as snow’, that’s why blacks aren’t lining up.
YT had better wise up fast. This country is going down, now that BHO has been re-elected. Feeling sorry for them ain’t going to work in the ‘real’ world. I was (15 yrs ago) once called a ‘racist’ by a black ‘druggie’ begger on the streets of Atlanta, in front of Grady Memorial Hospital, because I wouldn’t give him money. I told him his race crap wasn’t going work on me. He got gone real fast.
YT, grow a spine.

Dec. 14, 2012 at 1:36amYeah encinom, their right next to your freshly starched dunce cap, I don’t know how you keep it looking so good since you wear it everywhere.
It probably won’t mean anything to you, but you have no idea what a true Southern Racist is. I’ve seen the swine, and I dare not repeat anything they say in pleasant company. The fact that you use them like a cheap boogeyman is an insult, they are terrorists, who have killed maimed and ruined people’s lives. Every time you use them for cheap political gamesmanship is an insult to the memory of people like Emmett Till and countless others victims of their atrocities.
Don’t go making comparisons you can’t back up Son.

Dec. 13, 2012 at 7:27pmIf it’s so sacred why does’t anyone in Africa celebrate it? Just like Mexicans in Mexico don’t celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

Dec. 14, 2012 at 12:54amSacred? HA! And I thought my jokes were bad. Most Africans don’t even have a freaking clue what Kwanza is about. You probably learned more about the celebration of Kwanza by watching this ten minute short than most Americans, and without a doubt most Africans, will ever know.

***
A sacred holiday created in our lifetimes by a notorious wife beater
“Deborah Jones, who once was given the Swahili title of an African queen, said she and Gail Davis were whipped with an electrical cord and beaten with a karate baton after being ordered to remove their clothes. She testified that a hot soldering iron was placed in Miss Davis’ mouth and placed against Miss Davis’ face and that one of her own big toes was tightened in a vise. Karenga, head of US, also put detergent and running hoses in their mouths, she said. They also were hit on the heads with toasters.”

Dec. 14, 2012 at 8:33amTrollmonger, you must’ve missed all the bashing of white Americans that’s been going on for the past few decades. Here’s the latest installment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnGgz6FK150
Any comment on that?
Glenn is poking fun at an embarrassingly useless and manufactured “holiday” that all of my black friends disregard completely. To call Glenn’s skit racist is simply hogwash. A far better example of racism is what you hear when Al Sharpton opens his mouth.
