‘Queen James Bible’: Now There’s a Gay-Friendly Version of Scripture

Despite the evolution of societal trends, homosexuality continues to be intensely-debated on moral, spiritual and theological grounds. With the Bible traditionally viewed as a document that condemns the actions associated with same-sex attraction, some anonymous editors have set out to reinterpret scriptures to create a new translation — “The Queen James Bible” — that is favorable to gays and lesbians.

At first glance (and even when you dig beneath the surface), it’s difficult to discern who is behind the publication (the publisher of the book on Amazon is listed as “Queen James”), as there is no organization overtly mentioned on the web site advertising the alternative Bible. That said, the editors, though unnamed, are bold in explaining their intriguing project.

“The Queen James Bible resolves any homophobic interpretations of the Bible, but the Bible is still filled with inequality and even contradiction that we have not addressed,” the web site notes. “No Bible is perfect, including this one. We wanted to make a book filled with the word of God that nobody could use to incorrectly condemn God’s LGBT children, and we succeeded.”

The editors claim that the word “homosexual” was not placed in the holy book until 1946. Their new version is purportedly a purer — at least in their view — take on the scriptures (although references to same-sex attraction were clearly in the Bible from its inception).

Taking into account the eight verses that are most frequently cited in arguments against homosexuality and same-sex attraction, the editors amended them “in a way that makes homophobic interpretations impossible.” Because the King James translation is the most popular version of the Bible, it was selected to be repurposed.

Why “Queen James?,” you may be asking. According to those behind this new publication, King James VI and I, the man behind the Bible translation, was a bisexual (a fact that is historically debatable). We’ll let the editors tell you in their own words:

Commonly known to biographers but often surprising to most Christians, King James I was a well-known bisexual. Though he did marry a woman, his many gay relationships were so well-known that amongst some of his friends and court, he was known as “Queen James.” It is in his great debt and honor that we name The Queen James Bible so.

Among the verses that they changes was Genesis 19:5. Originally reading, “And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them,” they amended it to, “And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may rape and humiliate them.”

The rationale for this change, as described by the Bible’s editors, is as follows:

We side with most Bible scholars who understand the story of Sodom and Gomorra to be about bullying strangers. Strangers were not well-treated or well-regarded at the time of Bible (hence so much of the Word urging the love and acceptance of others).

We know Lot asks that the men do not “know” the angel visitors “wickedly,” (Genesis 19:7), in other words “brutally,” which we understand to mean “rape.” We know from Leviticus that one is not allowed to have sex with a beast, and angels are not human. Plus, the passage mentions the men of the city; Obviously women and children aren’t going to be invited to a dominating and public rape, but we know there were women and children in Sodom because Lot had daughters. Rapes such as this one are common between men in prison; they aren’t sexual acts, they are power-dominating acts.

And as for Leviticus 20:13, which reads, “If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them,” yet another interpretation is given. The Queen James Version now reads, “If a man also lie with mankind in the temple of Molech, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.”

  Any wonder there is such an explosion of “gayness” idoctrinating grade schoolers with filth like “heather has 2 mommies” “dad’s roommate”

  The rumor that King James was a homosexual or bisexual is baseless. The rumor was begun by some Jesuits who hated King James and his Protestant Bible and Protestant Church. Many, many assassination attempts were aimed at King James, but by the grace of God, he escaped them all.   Well, since it was rewritten hundreds of times in revised editions, of translations, of translations transcribed from dead languages from originals in dead lanaguages recorded from oral histories of other dead languages before it ever got to English, and then given to Popes, Kings, and Roman Emperors so they could take out and put in their favorites bits, all before it ever reached your hands as the hallowed “King James Version,” I’d say more made up **** on top of what is perhaps history’s longest game of telephone which we have no evidence to believe didn’t START as purely made up **** makes about diddly squat bit of difference.

  James I reigned as king of England from 1603 to 1625. He was the son of Mary Queen of Scots, and he had been king of Scotland before succeeding to the English throne at the death of Queen Elizabeth I. He was prompted to produce an English Bible because of the poor and tendentious copies being circulated in England. He feared these could be used by seditious religious and political factions.
  
  His authority was one usurped from the Catholic Church, beginning with his predecessor King Henry VIII. Henry had broken with the Catholic Church and made himself the head of the Church in England, which soon enough became the Church of England. You could say James had no more authority in biblical matters than any head of state, basically none. What authority would a “George Bush Bible” have? The true authority and safeguard over Scripture was and has to be the Catholic Church, to which Christ gave his authority. No secular authority has any rightful authority over the Bible.

  I’m sorry but this depravity started when Reformation started, remember the reasons behind it:
  Luther, a monk, wanted to marry a woman, instead of simply leaving the priesthood he attacked the Church. Henry VIII, an adulterer wanted to remarry, so he split the Church, etc. All the men behind the Reformation were narcissists, who wanted to become prophets exploiting the naivety and ignorance of the masses. Pretty much like Obama. Millions died because of their pride.

  @PLATONICIAN I know plenty about the Jesuits. I was speaking about certain Jesuits, not about the Jesuit institution and order. Nonetheless, as you and BYFAITH have shown with your comments, this same contention, as displayed here, also existed in 17th century England. These two groups were at war. These same Jesuits wanted to protect and preserve the Popish authority in Rome, while the other group wanted to abandon all alliance to it. England adopted the Protestant Reformation, and practically said, the hell with the Vatican. This sentiment made Rome’s loyal subjects, followers and leaders very angry, upset, worried, and rightly so. For their authority and presence was being questioned and altered before their eyes. Wherefore, they tried and attempted to malign, distort and destroy any rebels, dissidents, and protesters, to save themselves and what, as they believed, was theirs. They were protecting their Faith at all costs.
  
  Please note, I don’t mean to generalize or group all Roman Catholics together, past or present. Rather, I’m speaking about, as we political heads would, say, about the Establishment and its elites. My parents, family and relatives are majority Roman Catholic. I know my history.

  @THIRD ARCHON..Actually Third..the Bible correlates quite nicely with the Dead Sea Scrolls..So we are getting the real deal with the King James Bible..The Dead Sea Scrolls were written by the Essenes..a sect in Israel devoted to God…and it is said that the scrolls were written as if Jesus/Yeshua were sitting right there in the midst of them….we don’t have any hope of 77 virgins..but we do have the hope of serving our Master and basking in His presence for eternity.   The just filed appeal however argues that the Vatican Bank is not sovereign and engages in commercial activity in the United States and therefore should be held accountable in a United States Federal Court.
  
  Attorneys for the plaintiffs, Holocaust survivors and their heirs including Serbs, Jews, and Roma, originally filed the lawsuit in 1999. They are seeking an accounting and a return of the loot estimated to have been worth over $50 million dollars in 1946.

  - Erasmus, Zwingli & other came about this time. Luther might have been the 1st, but not by much. There is something to this other than just Luther.
  - The Roman Catholic Church is not the Catholic Church. Ask the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Coptic Church & others.
  - Hopefully all the churches come together. but not be force. & not by you shaking your finger.

  Max: you can’t argue with the people on here who already know it all. the only thing they don’t do is study God’s Word every day without letting some man or organization telling them how to do it. They probably go to church on sunday when God says His Spirit doesn’t dwell in no building on that day.   The Church was not supportive of the Nazi Regime. One of the first political goals of Hitler was the destruction of “political Catholicism”.
  In many of the countries and regions occupied by Nazis, Poland, etc atrocities were committed against Catholics.
  Unlike 99% of the protestant clergy in Germany, that became Hitler’s pets, Catholic clergymen kept condemning the regime, to the point that Von Ribentrop, Hitler’s foreign minister asked the Pope to instruct the German bishops to refrain from political criticism against Hitler, which he didn’t.
  The Pope also was a negotiator between the British and a group of generals who wanted to overthrow Hitler in 1940!

  Nice try, the taxes were levied on the States and remember the political context, the Vatican was a state among different, and at times, at-war-nations. It is always the same 3 or 4 canned arguments. All can be easily refuted by a 5 second internet search. But these people only go to non-Catholic sites to find out what the Catholic Church teaches.   BY FAITH… sorry, but I do miss your postings at times. Most of what I learned (dates and sources) when I went through the seminary (long ago) I’ve forgotten. Insert the, “Don’t use it, lose it.” adage here. The only thing I have at my disposal for such discussions at most is what I’ve experienced and internalized from that time; which doesn’t bode well when confronting what I know to be errors about our Faith. So I love your ‘silver hammer’ knocking on their foreheads to wake them up.

Just because someone decides to take it upon themselves to edit out parts they don’t like it does not change the fact that it’s a fake. That’s like me rewriting Gone With The Wind and taking out the parts I found offensive and calling it Gone With The Wind. These people are trying to create a fiction where Christianity approves of the gay lifestyle. This will not change the fact that it does not. Maybe this was just meant to offend Christians. So instead of translating the bible from the Hebrew and Greek into modern day English they took the King James Bible and altered that? BTW where did they pull the temple of Molech out from? This is a case of people who don’t like something trying to change it so it suit them better. I don’t agree with the Zeroth Law of Thermodynamics I’m going to change it to make me feel better about myself! Instead of the if two systems are in thermal balance with a third system I’m going to print and publish a paper saying if two systems are in thermal balance with a third then none of the systems have the same temperature!

  I design and construct r/c aircraft. There are laws of aerodynamics that allow heavier than air craft to fly. As a designer I push the envelope all the time, but in the end, to get a plane to fly, well…..y’ gotta stay within the parameters of the law. Otherwise, you crash and time and assets are lost.   Do you understand the Gospel? Christ fulfilled the law for his people. We are no longer under the curse of the law, for God does not desire sacrifices but mercy. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. That being said, the whole of the law is fulfilled by the first two commandments: loving the Lord with all your heart, mind, body, and strength, and loving your neighbor. Faith in Jesus Christ frees us from the shackles of the law, and we are born again as new creations in Christ. When he hung upon that tree, he bore the punishment for our sins, and the law was fulfilled. The new high priest ministers in the true tabernacle in heaven, and only needs one offering (His blood) for the sins of His people.

  Actually, I CAN explain that. All the biblical laws you just listed are all Old Testament Hebraic laws. Since they are pre-Christ they do not apply to Christians and were later refuted in the New Testament. Gentiles are not bound by the old laws, this is made quite clear by Jesus in the Gospels. I know you atheists consider the ‘rape laws/ stoning /no haircuts /mixed fibers’ to be your ‘big guns’ in any argument with Christians. I also know you believe that the use of these references will leave us quivering in fear and unable to come up with a response. Unfortunately if that’s the best you can come up with, a simple application of facts shoots your criticism to pieces, I suggest you educate yourself too before adopting the name ‘Youcantexplainthat’. Because I clearly can. Nature was created by God to operate on a male / female basis. Like it or not. Homosexuality is unnatural on a purely scientific basis, apart from the moral one. I never said that the law should be ignored, and not one pen stroke of the law will be removed. That being said, as Christians we are most certainly released from the curse of the law (which is perfect and good) and have liberty in Christ. Does that mean we no longer pursue righteousness? Of course not, our fruit of the Spirit is our evidence that we are truly in Christ. I think you are being too quick to judge. If it helps you to understand where I am coming from, I am a Reformed Baptist. Everything I said in my post is from the Bible.

These people are just warped pure and simple. They will try anything to convince themselves that their lifestyle is not a sin. It is, as are many other lifestyles. When I read these articles it just tells me how much closer the time is for our rapture. I used to get angry when I would read these types of articles now I just let it guide me in who to pray for.   Respectfully, it isn’t proof at all. The actions of a sub-group doesn’t always accurately portray the actions of the larger group. Some Americans, Israelis, Europeans, etc.. are correct. That certainly doesn’t mean they all are.

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

Help us vote down and remove the word God from the 2016 Demonrat Platform again and Obozo will burn Gay Bibles, in addition to Non Gay Bibles, to help placate to the Abduls Macmood’s in the Middle East that get their feelings hurt. If a Florida pastor threatens to burn a kore-on, then Obozo will burn a pallet of gay and non gay bibles and bury his head in the sand for week. How do you like them apples Obozo’s?
