This Actually Happened: NBA Ref Charges Court to Block Player’s Shot

Before today, you might not have known who Courtney Kirkland was, but you’re about to see a lot of him.

That’s because Kirkland pulled a move during Wednesday night’s Nets-Raptors game that became an instant classic. During the fourth quarter of the game, Nets player Kris Humphries (yes, the one that was married to Kim Kardashian) was shooting a free throw. But right before he was about to release the ball, Kirklinand charged the court, lept, and tried to block Humphries’ shot. It’s one of the oddest plays you’ll see.

Let’s start with a frame-by-frame:

NBA Referee Courtney Kirkland Blocks Kris Humphries Free Throw

And now the video:

So why did he do it? Well, at the last minute Kirkland noticed a player was trying to sub into the game. So instead of just blowing his whistle, he went all Michael Jordan. Naturally.

As for the game, SB Nation has you covered:

That was just about the best defense that anyone played on the night against the Nets, who defeated Toronto, 94-88. Humphries put up just 11 points and two rebounds, as the Nets were carried by Joe Johnson, C.J. Watson and the resurgent Andray Blatche.

One of the great things about sports is that even after having watched 1000s of hours of sports, every now and then, you see something that you have never seen before.

Only someone with a superiority complex would do this instead of simply using the whistle.

This is the ObamaNation that our President has created.
Let a White guy do the same thing to a Black player and see the outrageous consequences.
A White guy would have been beat nearly to death, right on the spot.

I think they should raise the goals to 12 feet now, so that the game requires skill, again, instead of an ability to just jump and stuff it in.

LOOK AT ALL THOSE WHITES WATCHING A ***** BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION GAME WITH NEW RULES.

The new rules are that every white player must wear a 100 pound back pack filled with sand and every Black team has a Black referee who gets to play.

Obviously a racist organization. What about the height disparity? Everyone should be able to jump as high as everyone else.

If we use the same model as is used in University admissions, it wouldn’t matter that white men can’t jump.

I stopped watching the NBA when it became nothing but ‘hood basketball with gang-style clothing, hideous tattoos and brandings, players more worried about respect than about talent, not being a team sport anymore (i.e. Iverson shooting 70 times a game, of course at least 10 will drop in the hoop). The Rap culture ruined the NBA.

That same characteristics can be applied to the NFL as well….all tattoos, piercings, getting drunk in clubs, shooting people like your baby mama, crashing and killing people and teammates while drunk… same crap..
same bunch of self entitled idiots…players and owners…
just one season of each with nobody going and you would see ticket prices drop to $10 a game…like most MLB parks..or even $30 would be responible..if the food and drinks didn’t cost $8 for a hotdog and drink…

$10 a game for MLB? What fantasy world are you living in? You haven’t been able to get into a MLB park for $10 since about 1994, and even then those were mostly the relatively few “cheap seats” that had obstructed views or other reasons nobody wanted them.

Depends on the venue. I can usually get Diamondbacks tickets for about $8 as long as it’s not a ‘premier’ (aka Red Sox, Yankees) game.

The main ting wrong with MSM is that what we see is controlled by a group with groupthink mentality who decide what constitutes a story, and what does not. This would explain all the people who come to the Blaze commentary section. They want to be the groupthinking group who makes the decisions as to what the rest of us should think of as news, and hope to get a chance to do so by opining here.

And some of you people who constantly feel the need to comment on a article about “how you don’t care” or whatever nonsense, get a life!!!! I read TheBlaze constantly and all I see some of you do is write extremely negative comments….. I’m waiting for someone who will turn this basketball story into a anti-Obama rant…… Enough already, enjoy the article for what it is. Something funny. Enjoy the article for what it’s not, its not an Obama article.
