This Female Israeli Officer Shot and Killed a Palestinian Teen Who Pulled a Fake Gun…And Now She’s Getting Death Threats

Female Israeli Officer Shoots Dead Palestinian Teen who Pulled Fake Gun on Her Subordinate

Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot captions the woman “The Hero of the Border Police”

A female squad commander serving in the Israel Border Police in Hebron shot dead a 17-year-old Palestinian who had aimed a gun at one of the men under her command Wednesday evening. Only later, it was learned the gun the youth was brandishing – though made out of metal – was fake.

Palestinians started circulating her photo on social media, some demanding she be brought to trial while others threatened her life.

One of the messages said: “There’s no escaping death.” Another said: “You’re going down.”

One Arabic Facebook page posted her photo with the caption: “Wanted for international justice — we demand that this murderer be tried at The Hague Court.”

Commander of the Israeli Border Guard Maj. Gen. Amos Yaakov is praising her actions since he says the handgun looked real.

Because of the threats being made against her, Israeli authorities have placed a gag order on publishing the 19-year-old squad commander’s name or her photo. She told Yediot Aharonot (TheBlaze translation):

“I didn’t have time to think…adrenaline was burning in my body. You have less than a second to understand the situation: either you do something or your fighter is hurt.”

The Times of Israel conveys more of the story from her perspective:

“With one hand … he grabbed the soldier’s neck and pressed against him, and with the other he put the pistol to the soldier’s temple. In that situation, the soldier couldn’t break free or react.” […]

“I was looking for an angle from which to fire without hurting the soldier,” she said, and it was only after she ascertained that his life was in danger that she pulled the trigger.

“After the first shot, he continued to hold the pistol to the soldier’s temple, so I fired two more bullets,” she said, at which point the Palestinian fell to the ground, and she quickly kicked the gun away.

“It was my first time in a combat situation,” she said, explaining that she had reacted “exactly like I was taught.”

With a gun being held to the soldier’s head, there was no way she could fire a warning shot, the officer said. “My subordinate’s life was in immediate danger,” and it was important to fire without hitting him, she said.

The incident occurred near Hebron’s Cave of the Patriarchs, a location holy to both Jews – who believe Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their wives are buried there – and to Palestinians.

After the incident, riots erupted, as Palestinians threw stones and Molotov cocktails at troops. Clashed continued into Thursday, and the IDF is on high alert in Hebron.

Hebron locals identified the dead Palestinian as 17-year-old Muhammad Ziad Awad Salaymah.

  Perhaps, but would like to know how the 17 year old got the jump on the Israel and how he was able to hold him without a response. You just let someone hold you and put a gun to your head without doing anything? Something is missing in the story. Sounds like the same type of protectionist story coming from the Cleveland police who felt a need to fire 137 bullets a 2 individuals who were inside a car and unarmed.

  I agree. She gets to go home because she took action against a person who would threaten her life. People should learn to respect the gun more now days and understand that you never point a gun, even fake ones, at people. Even more so when they are uniformed peace keepers.   @ RET_FIELDOP I applaud the lady fort not taking a chance! This idiot was 17 years old, not a 5 year old kid. There are many BB guns that look like the real thing. You can buy a AR-15 look alike BB gun that looks like the real thing. I have a carry permit and carry a Taurus Judge Defender mixed with .45 and .410 shells. In my boot that I had modified I carry a Cimarron Titan derringer with a .410 on top and a.45 on the bottom. My wife carrys a .38 Lady Smith and that kid would have got the same results if he had pointed his metal gun at us unless we could have decided he was mental ****** with the mind of a 5 year old kid.

  This happens occasionally with some kid pointing a play gun at officers..Last I saw was an American kid doing just this at a school..Some kids think that because they are aiming a fake gun..that nothing will happen to them..After all..they aren’t really intending to hurt anyone..just scare them..Unfortunately..some kids `discover that it is a game with deadly consequences.. I feel sorry for the kid..that he didn’t know any better..and I feel sorry for this officer..because no one feels good about killing anyone…not deep down in their soul..It is something that stays with one for the rest of one’s life..Just ask the returning vets..war is a terrible thing..but so are is the entity that gave Islam it’s religion..Greedy politcal factions.. The only evidence that the Palestinians have is a photo. How many photos have they staged to paint Israelis as the aggressor? Who is to say that this latest photo isn’t staged? With all of the attacks that the Israelis have to face on a daily basis it makes sense that she would have reacted the way she did.

Looking for an excuse to cause trouble in any way the Palestinians can; the kid was merely an extension of the Palestinian policy of lies and deception. He got what he deserved and what he was most likely looking for. She did right and good. The blame for his death belongs with Palestinian leadership, Islam and antisemitic sympathizers; the people who put him there and drove him to his actions.

Get over it you stupid Palestinians. If you can’t teach your youngsters not to point guns, fake or not, at armed people…. well, you already know what can and will happen.

Sounds to me as if the Palestinians “might” be handing out fake guns to Children and telling them to do this. Just another martyr tactic with their usual afterlife promises and fodder to make complaints.

  TIME, I’m reading you, but I also recall back in either the late ’80s or early ’90s when toy guns had to be produced in a certain shade of blue with that orange tip. A number of police officers were shot by criminals who had spray painted their guns to look like these toys. They were lulled into a state of complacency because of our governmental do gooders, (NOT).

  TIME, Just reread my post, and hope that I did not sound as though our then small department lost officers to this. The stories were in the news back then, as well we were receiving updates for our roll call.
  I do remember my son having some of these toys back then, so it may have been a requirement started in the ’80s, but it had to have extended into the ’90s. I do recall back during the ’90s as he was getting ready for school we checked his pockets and book bag for any of his GI Joe toy guns. The news was full of stories of kids not only being expelled, but also getting arrested for having these. He was in a private school at the time, but we were not willing to take a chance.

  I do. Israel needs to define the borders of Palestine very quickly, then set up a fortified border, close that border, and let the PLO do their own damn tax collection and police work. Treat every rocket attack and cross border act of terrorism as an act of war between states. If they wait too long, the Jew hating UN and EU will try to define Palestine back to the 1948 borders and help to cause another attempted regional genocide.

  They do have a home. It’s called Jordan. Their king has stated during one of the annual meeting of Arab leaders that these Palestinians have no legitimate claim to that land and their search for a homeland is a farce. He said they came from Jordan and they are free to return if the accept his rule his as their brothers and sisters do. The king expelled these people from Jordan after they tried to overthrow him.
