RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (TheBlaze/AP) — A 6-year-old Texas boy whose father allegedly carved a pentagram on the child’s back is out of the hospital and doing well given the circumstances, police said Thursday. TheBlaze first told you about this troubling story earlier this week.

The boy seems to be doing OK, while his mother is in “a very emotional state” and has asked for privacy for their family, Richland Hills police detective Tye Bell said. The child’s wounds didn’t require stitches and he was released from a Fort Worth hospital Wednesday night, police said.

Some medical experts say the boy may need counseling to overcome the traumatic incident.

Brent Troy Bartel, 39, remained jailed Thursday on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in lieu of $500,000 bond. Police say they plan to seek a mental evaluation.

Bartel called 911 early Wednesday and said he had shed “innocent blood” and inscribed a pentagram on his son because it was “a holy day,” according to a recording of the brief call. It is not clear to which faith he was referring. Wednesday’s date was 12-12-12, a once-in-a-century event.

The case has been turned over to the district attorney, and investigators cannot reveal what, if anything, Bartel has told them – such as explaining his actions or why he used the pentagram symbol, police Sgt. Nathan Stringer said.

Dr. Peter Stavinoha, manager of psychiatric services at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, said children who endure such an injury are more than likely to need support, whether from professional counseling or family, friends and church.

“Deliberate abuse or harm breaks trust and the bond between a child and adult,” said Stavinoha, who was not involved with the boy’s case.

In cases where the parent or other adult who caused the injury is sent to jail, the child still may not feel assured that he or she won’t be hurt again, Stavinoha said. Also, when an injury leaves a scar, it becomes a permanent reminder of the traumatic event and can attract attention and questions, he said.

“Trauma is going to stay with a person, but you want to get to a point where you acknowledge it and set it aside,” he said.

James, Chapter 1 verse 27…”Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world”. So…. Impure religion and defiled is what we have just read about. Praying for that little boy, that his outer and inner wounds be supernaturally healed In the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Praying for that demon possessed father to be delivered and transformed by the Power of God. My inital reaction was to carve a cross in the father’s back and let him feel every bit of pain that his son felt. But this is why Jesus died on the cross, to save all of us vile sinners. Even that father. Lord, have mercy on us all. Amen.

WTH!! This poor child. All I can see in my mind is this little boy, my son is 5, screaming for his Dad to stop. Then after it is over wondering why? Why did my Dad do this to me, did I do something wrong? The utter betrayal of a parents bond with a child. The physical and mental scars will probably never go away. No rational reason to let this sorry excuse for a human to keep breathing. So tired of hearing of crimes like this against children, people like this need to be put down like the rabid animal they have become. Sorry no 2nd chances in cases like this.

“It is not clear to which faith he was referring”. These “journalists” are either so scared to name what this actually is or they have taken political correctness to a whole new, disgusting level. What part of pentagram carving, innocent blood, and 12-12-12 don’t you get? The lunatic considered it a holy day because it was double 666′s. If people are so blind they can’t see that he’s a devil worshipper, I fear for them! I’d say that if the guy considers Satan his lord, Texas should immediately arrange for a meeting between him and his god. I feel so sorry for that child.

That’s what I don’t friggin get! I live about 30 minutes from this place, and was reading the story in the Scare-Telegram, and the “reporters” all said he was really deep into the Bible, and Old Testament.

My thoughts were, “Oh yeah, I remember all those stories about carving pentagrams onto children in the OT… wait, there weren’t any.”

It’s a shame they can’t call it what it is, a desperate man, going through some really tough times, listening to satan decided to act on a crazy idea to “worship” a “holy day” I never thought about the 121212 being a double 666, but that makes sense. Just don’t say he’s deep into the Bible, that crap was never in there.

He may have been obsessed with the OT but you can do that and still worship Satan. Satan knows the Word better than any of us. What did he try to use to tempt Christ? Yes, scripture. Journalists like that are cowards.

When you believe in nothing, you fall for anything. Let’s keep tearing down religion shall we & replace it with nothing.

When nothing is sacred, there’s nothing to lose. When nothing is sacred, all is consumed.
