Christian Radio Host Says God Didn’t Protect Kids in Shooting Because We’ve Told ‘God to Get Lost’

Evangelical radio host Bryan Fischer is under fire after comments he uttered today during his American Family Association radio program. His statements, made in reference to today’s horrific school shooting in Connecticut, raised some eyebrows, particularly among liberal groups who view them as insensitive and wrong-headed. Mediaite has a recap:

Christian radio host Bryan Fischer took to his American Family Association radio show this afternoon to say that God didn’t stop the horrific Connecticut elementary school shooting spree because he does not go “where he is not wanted.”

Fischer made the case that, in his mind, God would have protected the shooting victims had there been a system of school prayer and a respect for the Ten Commandments in public classrooms.

And here’s how Right Wing Watch, a blog that advocates against conservative causes, institutions and individuals, summarized the radio discussion:

Bryan Fischer spent the first hour of his radio program today discussing this morning’s truly horrific shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, which he, of course, blamed on the fact that prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments are not taught in public schools.

Fischer said that God could have protected the victims of this massacre, but didn’t because “God is not going to go where he is not wanted” and so if school administrators really want to protect students, they will start every school day with prayer.

hELLO! Who are the idiots? Obviously few of you have read the word of God and what HE has to say. Your opinions don’t mean a d@#n thing! It’s HIS opinion that counts…Here is what HE has to say…”II Chronicles 2-3 “The Lord is with you when you are with HIM.” He makes it very clear about what He expects. You don’t chase Him out of your homes, court houses, governments, schools and businesses and think HE is going to be there to rescue you, do you? Like Sodom and Gomorrah? Like Noah’s time? Get real….

Maybe I have a different God than you, but I don’t think a God that encompasses all love would be part and parcel to a plot of killing a dozen and a half of innocent children.

Perhaps you’re a Muslim and thinking slaughtering innocents is the will of Allah?

as a christian I can say the biggest reason there aren’t more christians is because of idiotic actions and comments made by christians. this falls into that category. in a time where love and prayer needs to be taught he pretends to know the thoughts and ways of God. what a complete fool. His comments will damage many and keep many from faith in Christ, he will stand before God and answer for them. The power of life and death is in the tongue and this man needs to bite his. My heart goes out to these families. Dear athiests and agnostics, please don’t judge the Christian community and Christ by dumb soundbites from misguided fools like the man in the story.

What it comes down to is, first off the young man who did this was a very sick individual. That being said, our Lord gives each of us free will. Secondly, we have kicked Him out of EVERY public place so why do you turn around and question where He was, why didn’t He stop this? This was not His will, and if we are to put the blame anywhere it’s on the government that over the last 50 years has so arrogantly told God “we don’t need You anymore.” We need to stop shaking a fist at God and as a nation get on our knees and repent then He will heal our land.

God be with those poor parents and grant them Your peace.

The Blaze asked for comments so I will. But I have a question of my own. Considering God gave us free will and the fore fathers gave us the Constitution how is it that God can be accused of favoring certain people and not protecting others? God loves all of us. He doesn’t choose between us. The Constitution doesn’t choose certain people the right to bear arms. It is for all of us. God talks to us in the Bible to help us through the hard times whereas men in the past wanted kings rather than God. He let them have kings but He is always here. My question is where do you think he was when Stalin Hitler Poi Pot Mao Saddam Hussein Castro Osama bin Ladden Che and their Socialist Communist beliefs murdered anyone who did not agree with them? The Constitution knew this could happen here.God especially loves little children for he said “Suffer the little children unto me”. and raise up a child in the way he should go, etc .I think the preacher is right to suggest that things were different when the Commandments and prayer in schools, football and other places were “allowed” I know they were because I was there and now I’m here. There is a difference. He is wrong about God not being there. That is my opinion. We should all pray for our country and those who suffer loss. For their loss is ours.

God doesn’t come down to save us every time something bad is about to happen and I really don’t know why people keep saying that. Jesus said; “In this world you WILL have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have over come the world”.
This life on our planet is brief (the wink of an eye)—when we die we are being born into eternity where we will have an eternal body and we are transitioning into the spiritual rhelm…..
When we “die” in this world, we are not really dying, we are transitioning. Like a cocoon>butterfly or a kernal of corn when it is planted into the ground and it grows into a corn stalk. The only question is are we ready to die–it could happen at any time and if your ready good..if you’re not think about it!

He’s not an idiot, he’s just not phrasing it the way you would. We all agree that our values have tanked. Taking God out of school is a sign of tanking values. A child who has grown up in this school system is not taught about the value of life, only the value of the planet. Why should it surprise us that without a divine purpose, children grow up into adults with no care for themselves or anyone around them? They are all just parasites on the Earth according to school. It’s a sad day when even conservatives can’t agree that actions that advocate the dumbing down of values have serious long term consequences (that we are reaping right now.)

He’s on the right path but draws the wrong conclusion.

It is not God who makes or allows these things to happen.

It is evil and it is us that makes and allows these things to happen.

How? It is evil that kills like this. It is evil that steals our freedom and our property. It is evil that leads us to oppression. It is evil like the Sandy Hook murders that convince many of us to abandon our tools of self defense. It is evil that uses the judiciary, the legislative bodies, the schools and the media to turn the truth and the inclusion of God and Jude o – Christian principles from our society and culture, thereby opening the door for all of the above evils to advance. It is evil that makes us want to sit down when we need to stand up.

It is US as individuals who have waited for others to stand up against evil for decades, who have been sedintary while evil’s army has been quite active. We are much more active now, but we need to increase our activity and involvement in local state and federal government’s guidance and in media rejection. Reject all media and commerce that is anywhere in line with evil. Yes, I boycott.

Support the increase in gun and religion rights and reject the oppression of them. Participate on line and on the phone to government .. or in person .. sign in and calmly speak your mind.

Post them regularly on general news sites. Dismantle what evil is saying & advancing. Increase our numbers.

God does nothing in the earth unless He does it through his partner, the Church. In Genesis 1:28 God issued a divine decree putting charge of the earth into the care of man. God gave us His delegated authority to steward the earth. In Genesis 3, Satan used deceit to transfer man from God’s kingdom and move Him under the kiNgdom of darkness and all man possessed, including the deed to the earth, was transferred to darkness as well. When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world. Satan said “they have been given unto me”. Who gave Satan the ownership of the kingdoms of earth? Sinful man did. If God swooped in and took man and the earth from Satan’s grasp, Satan could accuse God of stealing cause Satan is the LEGAL TITLE HOLDER of the earth and accuse God of being unjust. God has to find a legal way in to rescue men from dark. He did this by sending His son into the world AS A MAN. Man got us in this mess so man has to get us out. The way God works legally in the earth through the church today is through agreement. God needs agreement with his church on earth to intervene in earth’s affairs.
This is what the speaker was referring to. God needs agreement to intervene in the affairs of men of the earth. He is omnipotent but has agreed to work in the earth through the permission and cooperation of man. We all walk in agreement, the question is; with who? Either we agree with God or darkness, but we empower 1 or the

Here is truth. We did tell God to get lost. We banned him from our schools, we banned him in our courts, govt buildings, public spaces, the White House, Congress and all points North, South, East and West. Most importantly a majority of people banned God from their hearts.
This incident is a result of our turning our backs on God and choosing the path of evil. This is the way things are on Satan’s path. We now know there is a stark contrast between the way of God and the way of evil. The evil path the USA is on currently will only get worse.
I don’t think God allowed this to happen, I think we prevented (because we have free will and sovereignty) God from acting. God would have acted if we allowed Him to act.
Welcome to the brave new world where morals are relative, values are fluid, and accountability non-existent. This God-less society is melting down to its core. Don’t blame God for this horrific act, blame the atheists that sue at every mention of God in any location. Atheists kicked God out and the rest of us turned our backs and allowed it. God cannot bless that.
Rev. Wright was correct in one statement (although his reason for it was wrong) “our chickens are coming home to roost.” When you kick God out, Satan fills the void….Welcome to the brave new world.

Apkthegreat has my comment. I agree with him.

Fischer is on the right track, but I think he could have stated it much better. America has abandoned God, not the other way around. We do evil, not God. When we abandon Him, we stay His hand, and pull ourselves out from His protection. I only expect these occurances to continue and get worse if America as a nation does not repent. But I doubt this alone will be enough. My mom’s exact words yesterday was “It’s started.” :(

For those young people out there who do not know their Bible, this is hardly new. When God’s people turn from Him, He will allow judgement. Judgement we bring on ourselves.

GOOD GRIEF. HOW did GAYS get into this ?
      THIS Preacher is wrong.
WE acknowledge that there is massive EVIL on earth (therefore we have to acknowledge there is GOOD)
WE have been very protected as a people (for example: we are part of the 5% of people who have ever lived who live in freedom ) – As Protected people, we have not seen real evil (in blurbs and moments (9/11) but not enough to see what LIFE WITHOUT GOD is really like. It’s like walking from a well lit room into dungeon darkness. WE need to acknowledge Evil (not tolerate it).
While it’s really hard, even for the most committed Christian or Jew to comprehend, WE all need to give this a few minutes of our time: GOD GAVE US FREE WILL. That doesn’t work if we still get
to avoid the ‘worst stuff’. That’s not free will, that’s manipulated will. WE really need to get this
      solidly in our heads.
We tossed GOD out, even to the point of disallowing HIS HOLY NAME from being spoken. IF we don’t wear a raincoat and walk into the rain, we will get wet. IF we REFUSE to ACKNOWLEDGE GOD and try to navigate in this EVIL world, we can’t expect Protection.
I don’t like this. I wish there was no such thing as EVIL, but there is. It is there. The only hope and help we have is GOD. GOD is not a weakling. GOD is the power of the UNIVERSE but our job in this life is to acknowledge that fact or die without it. WE can’t have it both ways.

What Bryan Fischer said is true and no it’s not the same thing as saying “God hates Gays.” First off, God doesn’t hate homosexuals, he hates sin because sin destroys us. Don’t believe me? Ask yourself, “What one sin in my life has made my life more fulfilling?” Second, only a fool would blame God for allowing something like this to happen in a state run school, when state run schools have told God he’s not welcome there. That’s like wrecking your car while driving drunk and then blaming someone for giving you your car keys after that person begged you not to drive.

There is a fine line here of what role God has in this tragedy. Anyone claiming to know why or how this could happen is deluded especially from a theological perspective. God is acknowledged in the Amish schools, but a tragedy still occurred. Many of the points that Erick made were true, but I did not sense that God’s love and mercy on these victims was evident. Instead of Christians using this event as a way to express God’s love, these types of comments polarize people. God is gradually being phased out of our society, but the Church needs to look in the mirror because we are the biggest offenders.

The reason God lets things like this happen is real simple. The person doing the killing can’t be held guilty if God stops it before it happens. If it never happens, where’s the crime? The people killed will be received into heaven and will be given rest. God will send the comforter to the families who are suffering so horribly. As someone who has lost a child, i have felt God’s comfort when i was in the depths of despair. Ahh, no. He’s saying that America has changed, and not for the better, because our relationship to God has changed. Fifty years ago if you tried to get a license to teach school and tried to teach children that two men marrying each other was not only morally acceptable, but allowed under the Constitution they would have ran you out of town, if you were lucky. Twenty years ago they would have laughed at you. Now, if you voice an opinion against Gay marriage in a public setting your labeled as a reactionary neanderthal, akin to a slaveowner, by the establishment. But, if you espouse Christianity- the religion this country was founded on– you’re fired and persecuted.

I don’t know, but it seems to me that this country was a lot better off, when the vast majority of people were God-Fearing, Church attending, sexually repressed, capitalists, instead of deranged, sexually promiscuous, leftist, god-less, multi-cultural, degenerates, who have no idea of what truth is, how to find it, or even if it exists. At least in the old days there was Good, there was Evil, and America was the good guys. Now I’m not so certain, and I feel that atrocities like what happened in Connecticut will only become more frequent as America continues down the path of moral relativism, and godlessness.

You can take all the guns away. Hitler and Stalin did, and look how well that turned out. The only ones with guns were the state and the criminals, and they were the same.

THIS know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

      4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

GOD loves gays, BUT GOD absolutely hates their SIN, if they do not turn from it, hell is waiting.

I understand what this Christian radio host was saying. He’s very blunt, no condiseration for others or the victims in Ct., unfortunately he’s right. The Liberal/Progressive(socialist) have for 50 years rooted out prayer, the bible and God from our school systems. Not because of seperation of church and state, which is not mentioned in the Constitution anyway, but because of their distain for religion, specifically Christianity. Recently at the Dem. convention the libs denied God three times before putting God back in the party platform against their will. The people have deemed the Laws of God are irrelivant. That he doesn’t matter. Not by our words but by our deeds. Accepting homosexuality as a moral lifestyle and same-sex marriage as ligitmate in the guise of civil rights. Which means accepting sodomy. Marriage is a religious sacrament given to us by God. The libs also seek alliances with Islam(our enemies), who promote pedifilia, and by the way, Islam is not a religion but a way of life. Islam is a theocracy who might I add, Is also againts Christianity, and is the opposite of the Constitution. They do NOT promote religious freedom or the expression of. Their motto is convert to Islam or die. They are bent on world domination. These are the facts, and no matter how the truth comes at you, you still won’t believe it. Bascially “YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE TRUTH”. Why in the world to you think all these tragities are happening?

God has set forth very clearly His ultimatum to man:
Deuteronomy 30:19 “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live”

If you want to place your trust in politicians or human reasoning, go ahead. But be aware of the repercussions!

I certainly dont think the pastor stated his views very well. However, the point he is making is worth noting.

Without getting too preachy there are a few scriptural points to remember.

      1. In all things, the end result will be that God will be glorified. All things work to that glorification.
      2. All things work toward good for those who believe.
      3. God is soveriegn and has a purpose in all things.
      4. God could have chosen to intervene to stop the killing.
      5. God, having that ability to choose, did not for some reason.
      6. Whatever the reason, it must have had a higher purpose we cant understand.

Yes, God could have prevented it if he saw fit. Yes we have thumbed our nose at God and uninvited him out of our lives (on the whole as a nation). Yes we have evil amongst us. And yes, God will be glorified in the end. Because that is what the entire purpose of our existence is for. And there are, perhaps, more gracious ways of stating this than what the pastor did.

We can only pray that non-believers will open their hearts to God’s message and try to come to know God and his attributes and holiness and justice for us all.

As for this tragedy…my only peace comes from knowing that while these things occur under the soveriegn and watchful and caring eye of God, I know there is a greater purpose and result that is beyond my understanding and that God loves all of us as he asks us to trust in him and his wisdom.

IMO I think it’s too early to discuss things like this. Just have faith that there is a reason why God didn’t “JAM” the gun so it wouldn’t discharge as in the Colorado shooterwhere I think his gun jammed, I can’t remember if it was that story or another one where the gun jammed. I mean the bodies haven’t even left the school yet. Yes, one has to wonder where He was today…..seems Newtown is pretty religious and has faith in God. We need to push these Atheists back on their azzes and tell them “I will NOT comply” we WILL have a moment of silence again(prayer) and you can’t do a dang thing about it.TRY to get in our way. Defend God….like we defend this country against enemies.

Yes, it’s too early to discuss this tragedy, at least that’s the right wing view. The problem is these events occur in the US with such frequency that if you want a “cooling off period” (something the NRA objects to strenuously if you want to buy a gun to kill somebody), you’ll never get around discussing gun control. These things just happen too often.

You don’t want to discuss gun control when everyone is appalled by a mass murder – one or the other, they’re fairly frequent, it’s hard to even keep track of all of them – but try passing a bill that requires a waiting period before you buy a gun! Then any period whatsoever, even one to give the seller a chance to determine if the guy is crazy or an Al Qaeda agent, that’s way, way too long, even if it’s a day.

      Meteors,

Do you think the lady that was killed bought her guns yesterday? The little b@stard took her guns after he killed her. He killed her because he was evil. A “cooling off” period may make you feel better, but it’s not going to change a damn thing, except maybe delay a potential stalking/rape victim from getting the means of defense she needs before the crime happens.

The left wing loons respondents here and elsewhere always have a stupid politically motivated argument for everything. It’s interesting to hear their trumped up sympathy and pitty for the victims while they unfairly chastise people, that have nothing to do with the matter, when it has to do with one of their cause celebs. If you really care so much about those dead children, tell us about your stand on abortion and the hundreds that have just been denied life, while this other tragedy was unfolding, through the inhumane proceedure of abortion. While you are at it, give us a measure of your feelings about how the union thugs hurt people, wreck their property, and threaten people’s lives all the time, instead of making up lame excuses for them. Tell us why so many of you and yours honor despot dictators like Castro who made today’s tragedy look like a picnic by comparison. If you really care, help do something constructive to stop these sad state if affairs instead of spouting of crap. One constructive.

Whereas the preacher is concerned, he was trying to make a point. As usual many overlook the point to make something more sinster than what was said or meant.

Stop presuming to know the mind of God. Read Isaiah 55. This was a very irresponsible thing for a radio personality to say, but these guys just keep doing it over and over when there is a tragedy. We live in a sinful world, and that sin was brought into the world by man’s disobedience. You can’t lay this on God.

God wants us to ask Him into our lives. Remember this man’s comments are answering the “question – where was God in all this, how could God let this happen?” I believe his answer is reasonable.

@ SpiritFilled: my point was to say that it is wrong for us as human beings to even attempt to make a “cause and effect” case where God is concerned. We cannot begin to see the big picture that God sees. To say that this is the result of kicking God out of our schools or things of that nature is very presumptuous, and I believe not productive.

This man may not should have said what he did in the way he said it, but he is not an idiot. If Christians had taken a stand when they first began to take God out of schools, we wouldn’t have to worry about things like this because people would still have morals. A lot of you have claimed to be Christians on here, but you obviously have no clue what it means to be a Christian. This man will be judged for what he said, but he will still get into heaven ifhe has given his life to Christ. After reading the posts, there are a lot of you claiming to be Christians that will spend your life after death in hell. We need to put God back in school, we need to return to God as a nation, because “one nation under God” is what the founders of our country believed in and it is what will keep us going.

CUTHALU, if you have turned your back on God, you cannot return to him because you have commited the one unforgivable sin. Returning to God as a nation is not collectivism, it is where we startes and where we need to return. If not, and we as a country continue in the way we are going, God will have destroy us or forgive Sodom and Gommorah for destroying them for being in the same place America is headed.

By the way, God does not hate gays, He hates that they are gay. Love the sinner, hate the sin. Homosexuality is a choice, because an all loving God would not create something that he despises.

Or instead of pushing the responsiblity of raising children with prayers, God, the bible, etc onto teachers maybe parents should step up to do the spiritual teaching and upbringing of their own children?
Considering the fact that the majority of teachers are progressive who spread their progressive brain-washing onto out children, do any of you really feel good having progressive teachers and school systems teach YOUR children their twisted version of spiritual matters? I think you all know the answer.
Also, as much some christians demand prayer be forced on other peoples children in school the truth is the parents are the ones who are suppose to bear the responsibilty of the spiritual upbringing of their own children. Stop trying to pass off YOUR responsibilties onto government run public schools and expect good to come from it. Do your job.

I think the man’s point was that the public schools used to provide biblical teachings and allowed prayer. At that time students were not afraid of being shot at school – and there were guns in those days. The teachings of love, respect, service to others etc. were a positive thing but the progressives turned them into “intolerable proselytizing” and demanded removal from schools I don’t remember being preached at from my teachers, but do remember some great literature and examples of how to treat others.

As a believer, I pray everyday for judgement to continue to be poured out as our leaders have carelessly used Isaiah 9:10 after 9/11 and actually quoted a definance of God scripture that ushers in the judgment of God upon this country. Either these politicians knew what they were quoting or had no business at all using that scipture and had no idea of what it contained. The great majority of people in the United States are totally ignorant of what these men pronounced upon this nation. So, as it shall be, judgment will continue to fall to wake up to repentance. I feel very sad that dear little children had to die but thinking of what these little children would later on suffer in this country as they grew up under this communist takeover, they actually got the merciful way out compared to what citizens of this country will witness and experience in the coming days. Even as the terrorists, supported by our government, use nukes upon the cities in this country, instead of waking up and realizing that you have brought it upon yourself by allowing the murder of innocent babies for many years and enjoying your football games and other creature comforts and sin, you will shake your fist at God and blaspheme the Lord of heaven and blame him. The word says so. that is why.

I don’t fear meeting my maker. I’ve always suspected that He might exist and tried to live my life accordingly, although I remain skeptical of anyone, ancient or contemporary who claims to have communicated with Him personally and received special instructions on how He would have the rest of us behave.

I mean with friends like these who needs enemies right! I hope he apologizes to his audience and all the victims and their families and then asks forgiveness.

      Yes it does.

God may or may not intervene in today’s world. We just don’t know. God intervene during the old testament times & will again during the 2nd coming. But we don’t know when the latter is exactly.
For all we know he stepped back observing all of his exercising our free will & is just taking notes in the meantime.

      Yes it makes it hard

This man is a fool lost in a delusion of piety. I pray for God to open his eyes and shut his mouth.

Rather than give comfort to the families and how these babies are in God’s arms tonight he speaks of a churlish God who’s saying “I told you so”.

No…That’s not the God I kneel before each night. That’s not the God I beg to forgive me each night. That’s not the God I pray to bless Israel and the world each night. That’s not the God I love and who loves me. And all these things I know from the Gospels he gave to us. Those babies are in HIS arms tonight waiting to see their mothers and fathers again.

Let’s go back to the days when we had prayers in schools and had respect for the ten commandments – how many school shootings did we have in those days? We have indeed thrown GOD out of everything and everyplace – he is mocked – smeared and laughed at. As for me I would take back the days when there was respect and rule of law especially from a president.

What “SovereignSouless” doesn’t tell you in his agitprop is the school shootings in the 50′s and 60′s took place in the Abyss of Liberalism. That Marxist clown whose initials are SS never bothered to mention that in the 50′s a full 10 out of 12 schools shootings were in NYC. Really? The uber Leftist, Progressive NYC accounts for nearly every school shooting in the decade of the 1950′s. Should I be surprised? Of course not. Nor am I surprised that the scion of Saul Alinsky left out the most important component of his agitprop – the People.

Well Terrosi, I missed the memo where NY was not considered a part of our country. My apologies. The point was that school shootings have been happening since the 1700′s. Just because we didn’t hear about them in the 50′s doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. Some people are just plain ‘whacked out’ and blaming their actions on too many guns or a lack of prayer will not solve anything.

No. God was not involved in today’s events. If God’s loving arms are full of high-propulsion lead bullets slamming into my body, COUNT ME OUT.

Today’s events were wrought by someone with mental issues, and access to dangerous weapons. God may be waiting for these children at the end of the day; but anyone who says almost two score children are better off riddled with bullets than being alive and playing and LIVING deserves a smack to the jaw.

You all are spouting your opinions as if they really were important nstead of quoting from the word of God. When was the last time you actually read the word of God?? HE makes it very clear that HE does not stray from His people, they stray from HIm. IIChronicles 15: 2-3 “The Lord is with you when you are with HIM.” We as a nation have chased Him out of our marriages, our courts, our schools, our govenment offices and even the military with the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell”. What a laugh! And you think HE is hanging around waitng to rescue us? We are literally inviting trouble and shaking our fists in HIS face in outright defiance. Do you really think that we are any better than Sodom and Gomorrah? Or Noah’s time? Instead of spouting your opinions like they really mattered, you might try reading what HE has to say. And, if you want the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey used to say, read Deuteronomy 28 to see what’s ahead if this nation doesn’t get their act together! It’s not good!

The trouble with this man’s comments is that he is judging the hearts of the families in this class. How can he know if these children and their families have strayed from God? How can he claim that these families have invited God to leave their lives?

Only God can know the heart and mind of these families. It does them a disservice and misrepresents God to place the blame for these shootings on their shoulders by claiming that they’ve left Him. Let judgment rest with God.

Mr. Fischer may have gone a little far in saying he thinks God would have protected these people because only God knows what He is going to do or not but God will respect our wishes. If this nation does not turn back to God and repent this kind of stuff is only going to get worse. What a sad day in America. Pray! Pray! Pray!

well said bronco. the fact is that all these stupid liberal commies want to believe that mankind is inherently good and that there is no such thing as the sin nature or satan to inspire such acts of evil. Instead they choose to believe that guns somehow magically turn someone evil when they touch them, so their answer is simple, more government control to fight the evil magical powers of guns. The Lord Jesus Christ is the real answer whether these perverts like it or not.

i agree with what the man said, but with that being said it would take a lengthy sermon or bible study to get the point across. so maybe he didn’t explain himself well enough or we weren’t given the totality
      of what he actually said.
if one reads the bible they will find a loving God, but He is a jealous God, not jealous as we humans are but jealous because He first loved us and wants what’s best for us and that is relationship & reconciliation to back to Him.
if you read the bible, when the Israelites disobeyed God (after the covenant, “I will be your God and you will be my people”) they were allowed to be put in bondage and captivity by their own actions of not returning to him.
there is a verse in the new testament which states that [paraphrasing] it would be better for you on that day if you had not known me than if you had known me then let me go. america has known God, our country was founded upon His principles and precepts, i believe our covenant with God comes in the form of our constitution and bill of rights. and as a side note: many non-believers live under a covenential blessing that they themselves don’t comprehend.
so yes when we kick God out of our public square, He is a gentleman, he leaves and so does His hand of protection. the book of revelation shows this quite well, the plaques are so that people will return to back to Him but instead man will shake his fist at God.

remember we look throught the veil of time and not eternity, His ways are

That being said, I understand what he is trying to say but can see how people would take these statements and twist them way out of proportion until they are unbelieveably distorted. As a nation we HAVE lost our moral compass. As Christians we have NOT been vocal enough in defense of that morality. The thought that we should never discuss politics or religion is a misnomer and has actually lead to the rapid destruction of our moral compass. Decades later, we Christians need to make more than a half-hearted attempt to be the voices heard again in our beloved country. A wise person once said (and I paraphrase) that our voices are much louder and become clearer when we preach with our actions rather than our words. God bless us all and let us all be a blessing to each other.

Really? Seems a great many christians here at the blaze are consistantly warning us of the great vengeance and retribution their gods will employ because of the absence of religion in public schools, or of commandments in the town square, or because states allow homosexuals equal civil rights. Jerry Falwell said the 9/11 attacks were his gods vengeance on “abortionists and gays”. Pat Robertson claimed the Hatian earthquake was sent by his gods because Haiti had “made a deal with the devil. Posters here at the blaze threaten that their gods will wreak havoc whenever they fell themselves wronged by tolerant thought. Who knew such gods to be so petulant?

A great many people do misrepresent what God gave us and Christ’s teachings about God. Hence Matt 7:13. I don’t pretend to know what God thinks or does. I do know that He is a loving God and a loving God would not “allow” this to happen or “stop” it from happening. That’s not how it works. Read the Bible, it explains everything. But don’t read that new gay bible since I seriously doubt its legitimacy.

RickBob: You had me until the last sentence. Your understanding of God’s giving us free will is spot on. But people don’t die and go to heaven, read Ecclesiastes 9:5. For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.

What happens to people that die? John11:11-14 tells us that when Lazarus dies Christ told the apostles: “he fell asleep.” And in Acts 7:60 when the disciple Stephen was stoned to death the bible says again: “he fell asleep.”

As a nation that has built its laws and doctrine around and upon the Ten Commandments of our Creator (a Diety back then) it behooves us to hold fast to those laws. Those laws that come from God and speak directly to us as human beings are meant to not only serve as our moral compass, but to also protect our inalienable rights. If we fail as individuals we absolutely fail as a nation. That’s what I think we are witnessing right now in this country.
