‘Real News’: Egypt on the Eve of Constitutional Referendum

Egyptians will go to the polls Saturday to vote on the country’s new and controversial constitution that opponents to President Mohamed Morsi say will promote the Muslim Brotherhood and won’t protect minorities or free expression, and supporters say will stabilize the turbulent nation. Only half of the country is reportedly voting because there aren’t enough judges to observe polls since many are boycotting in protest. Protestors on both sides were out in force Friday, and some lawmakers in the U.S. are now weighing in suggesting that the administration needs to stand with the opposition and pressure Morsi.

On ‘Real News’ Friday the panel discussed how Saturday’s vote could play out, and what are Morsi’s options should his side lose. Watch a clip below featuring Khairi Abaza from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies:

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

Too bad their new ‘constitution’ will include public beheadings. I hope there’s video.

NATO and others should be paying close attention to this.

NATO is committed to supporting the MB. Firstly in Egypt, then Libya, and most recently in Syria. It seems that they are doing so at the behest of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey on the presumption that the MB can be controlled by those nations.

It appears that even Israel is supportive for that reason, as well as the added benefit of having Iran further isolated.

Recent moves by the Muslim Brotherhood’s president Morsi and his supporters regarding the Egyptian constitution, in addition to declaring himself above judicial restraint, should give NATO pause.

Saudi Arabia, particularly, and Qatar have demonstrated their willingness to call upon western nations when it suits them; for example when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait – giving the Saudis the clear impression that they might be next. Their gratitude was such that they now openly and massively finance Hamas and endorse their message of eradicating Israel and wishing death upon America.

While the Qataris support the MB handsomely, they also give them the clear message to stay out of Qatar, so why on earth should the Syrians welcome it?

Well, in fact they are terrified of getting an MB regime. The overwhelming majority of the Syrian people have clearly stated that they don’t want it.

As with Egypt and Libya, they are going to get it anyway.
