There Are No Words: The Tragedy in Photos
Editor’s note: We’ll be discussing the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on a special live BlazeCast at 4pm ET — including your comments and live chat:
Richard Wilford, the father of a 7-year-old in second grade who attended Sandy Hook Elementary School where the tragic shooting of 26 people, 18 of whom were children, said “there’s no words” to describe what happened in Newtown, Conn., Friday morning.
“It’s sheer terror, a sense of imminent danger…,” he said, according to the Associated Press.
The photos coming in from the scene certainly express this one father’s sentiments:

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 7:55pmThese shooter prey on the innocent and unarmed. We put our kids safety in the hands
of the Teachers and the School to keep them safe.
All school districts should encourage Teachers and Administrators to be armed. This
would deter any violence and mitigate any attack.
Staying proactive instead of reacting after the
fact is the only way to protect our kids.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 8:16pmThat’s my thought as well. Arm and train a minimum amount of teachers and staff at each school. We also need a better way to recognize and treat those at risk of committing crimes like these.

Posted on December 15, 2012 at 1:01amIn the 1970s one of my assistant football coaches was one of the police officers hired by the district to be on campus during school hours when students were present. He asked me if I would allow him to wear his gun during practice. I told him that it was okay with me, but I checked with the school administration just in case the principal had an opinion that was different than mine. The principal agreed with me after checking with the Central Office. During the period of time that these armed police officers were on campus the high schools in our district had less trouble than they had before the program started. It’s not a big thing when people don’t make it a big thing. But it is one way of keeping wild eyed nutcases with guns off campus during school hours.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 6:51pmWhen I say here on the Blaze that things will get worse in this country and this world…this is what worse looks like and this is not over yet, its only just begun I fear!
20 angels went to heaven today!
1 person went straight to H311! Judgemental? You bet! With a millstone around his neck for sure.
For those in distress, turn it over to the Lord! You cannot forgive the shooter for it is not something that was against you personally, thats for those involved. Pray however for those who remain and must carry on.
I hope those that are directly touched directly by this evil do not blame God and make their own matters worse. Blame evil! For evil is stalking the earth and it hates everything and everyone, yes even these lil ones for they are made in Gods image and evil hates what God has made.
Like I mentioned in another posting unrelated to this story, we are no longer safe in this country! No matter where we are, evil lurks and is ready to unleash ugliness on us. My own 20 something daughter was on lock down the other day at Cal State Fullerton but all were safe in the end.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 11:10pmAlthough I agree with your anger, YOU have obviously never read a bible before, because no-one has went to Heaven or Hell, and such thinking is certainly not right with God (YHWH)! Try perusing Hebrews chapter 11 again, the chapter many of YOU misnomingly call the “faith” chapter, where it says that no-one, not even a patriarch like Abraham, has gone to Heaven yet, but that they all are sleeping in their graves (which is actually called “Hell” not some fiery pit which YOU are confusing with the Lake of Fire, which is reserved for those few who die the 2nd death; and, ALL will be resurrected, not just the good, because Christ died for ALL). Only Christ has died and then risen to go to Heaven; he is the first-fruits, as your KJV says. What kind of a god would allow our loved ones to look down at all of our suffering from Heaven? Certainly not a compassionate one! That would not be a reward in my opinion, but rather a curse! Try actually reading a bible and understanding before posting such nonsense in the future, please, because, indeed, the Time is at hand.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 6:37pmA friend of mine posted this on Facebook and I think its very fitting:
Today, we are reminded once more that there are hundreds and thousands of twisted individuals living on our planet.
Regardless of your opinions, keep your gun control comments to yourself. Keep your “judgment of God” comments to yourself. Keep your “we need the Ten Commandments back in our schools” comments to yourself
Instead, pray, speak life, and mourn with those who mourn. Tragic moments ought not to be used as a pulpit for attempting to prove your point. This is a moment to somehow, someway, show the love of God to a brokenhearted world around us. Love on your families, and love on those who have none. Don’t be an opportunistic Christian, seeking to capitalize on another’s pain.
Be Jesus.

Keep it to myself??
I will not COMPLY!
The evil in this Country is salivating over this event. It is what they have been panting for!
Don’t be an opportunistic Christian…are you kidding me?
The WH is non-stop, working their propaganda on this. Stop being so naive and get some backbone in you man!
“Keep my ‘prayer in schools’, ‘Ten Commandments” comments to myself”?
Why not address the real issues here? You want to melt into a pity-party while the enemies are making a hay-day out of this.
If you think for one moment this has actually sorrowed this administration and their workers you are terribly weak and deceived.
Here is the truth:
This was enabled by having “gun-free zone’s”.
Let’s just make ALL America a gun free-zone…
Then it will be so easy for our enemy to waltz in and kill, steal and destroy, with no opposition.
Evil Kills the body and mind and soul. It destroys our foundations and steals our peace and ability to defend ourselves.
You think I should shut-up and pray. I think we should pray for this Country to speak-up and take a stand for the rights God gave us and not be weakened by defeat; so vunerable that evil comes in like a flood now.
Your are telling me to “be Jesus”.
I say, “Jesus knew His enemies! He took pro-active measures to defeat and expose them; until the day He gave up His life for us; His choice”.
Evil is prowling like a lion! Be bold. Spe

Could have something to do with it. as well as what is taught in public schools. As a country, we are way, way off track. Posted on December 14, 2012 at 7:29pmI think it is the de-legitimization and marginalization of manly virtues, which used to be imparted by fathers to sons: prudence, justice, temperance and courage. There is no doubt in my mind, when we look at suicide rates, fatherless homes, college graduation rates of women versus men, mass abortion on demand, abundant and easy divorce, boys on Ritalin for simply being boys, the choice families have made to keep their children inside to keep them safe, moral failures of church and community leaders (pedophile priests, for instance), political correctness run amok, the proliferation of drugs and their easy access by teenagers…man, I could go on and on. The normal rites of passage for young men are almost all gone, and the absence of sturdy life examples provided by fathers grow smaller each year. Boys no longer have a standard to live by, no way to learn the lessons of failure and get back up again, no means to know the responsibilities of being a man because they are on the path to adulthood alone, either high or medicated, and poorly educated to engage in a future with no prospects for their happiness or success. They are enraged because they think they have no reason to continue in this world, and leave their mark in a tragic, but memorable way. It is very much like retribution for ever being born, because life is simply too hard.

Posted on December 15, 2012 at 9:08amNo family values – I know so many families with young children who just leave the kids to watch TV or play video games, no interaction with them. And I agree, the lack of God in our schools and everywhere else have contributed. Lying politicians also make the country so much worse. Look at the role models we have in politics today or have had for a long time now. No character, morals; they lie like it’s nothing, cheat (conflicts of interest). We the people have allowed our country to have a media that lies for a president and never, ever vets him. They don’t report the news, only ‘their’ news. Kids today have been de-sensitized to what death really is – thanks to many of the violent shows and video games out there. And if they don’t have a parent that monitors what they are seeing/doing, they think these type of evil acts will give them a ‘name.’ I believe it’s been a slow process coming and it’s going to take a lot of backbone by the people to get things back to where they should be again. God-loving people who care about each other and respect each other’s opinions and FAMILY VALUES!! Eat together, pray together, and play together – find out what your kids think and feel.

This is the result of ONE evil demon’s actions. No legal restriction or medication can stop the immoral person. We have allowed so many immoral acts, where does one draw the line. ALL life is to be charished and held sacred. I pray the love and peace of God comfort these families and hold them close in the coming days…..espcially this time of year, when we celebrate the innocence of our childhood and the joyful expectations of the future. Posted on December 14, 2012 at 8:30pmDisny. yes the main blame is the people and mental illness. however guns give these people a vehicle to act out with. Guns allow for mass shootings like this. not any other weapon. a man in china today went into a school and stabbed 22 people. the difference? not a single one of them died. we would potentially have 2o more kids celebrating christmas this year if this man went into the school with a knife. Guns are not the whole problem. but to say they arn’t part of the problem is just ridiculous.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 4:37pmI listened on the radio as they discussed school security. They talked about how schools might need to be secured with locked gates and security around the perimeter that no one can get through without going through check points! My first thought was, yes, this would be part of the plan to further separate us from our freedoms in the name of safety. This is a horrible tragedy, but lets not be so quick to give the government more opportunity to put our children behind locked gates that parents cannot penetrate without security’s approval…normalizing this environment. Sometimes freedom has risk.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 6:55pmToo late! Many inner city schools are fortresses and its not for the kids safety, its to keep control of them from leaving any old time they please. Metal detectors and armed guards abound. A kids family is suing the LA unified because of a gun that went off in another persons backpack killed another kid by accident, their suing because the metal detector should have prevented this from happening in the first place. We are losing our freedoms for sure and its because we as citizens are no longer responsible nor accountable for even the basics. This will persist and it will only continue to war.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 4:36pmI agree. My father was a detective for the better part of his Sheriff career and had to see quite a bit. It still affects him to this day, and he’s 74 years old.
He’s been shot at and had a hatchet thrown, and narrowly miss him by people he was investigating. He’s dug brains out of decapitated motorcycle helmets, and had to investigate an airplane crash in a muddy field where a family of four were reduced to mush after the tail of their Bonanza fatigued and then departed the aircraft.
The visual these people have to view will last a lifetime, and the parents of these slain innocents will have to live with the loss for just as long.
I pray for the country.
