White House’s Jay Carney: Today Is Not the Day to Talk About Gun Control
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney on Friday told reporters that today is a day to mourn and express sympathy for those who have lost loved ones in Newton, Conn., not a day to discuss gun control.
Carney was asked whether the horrifying Newton massacre would push gun control and gun policy to the top of the president’s second-term agenda.
“We are still waiting for more information about the incident in Connecticut,” said Carney. “As we do, I think it’s important, on a day like today, to view this as I know the president, as a father, does, and others who are parents certainly do: which is to feel enormous sympathy for those families affected and to do everything that we can to support state and local law enforcement and to support those who are enduring what appears to be a very tragic event.”
“There is, I am sure, will be, rather, a day for discussion of the usual Washington policy debates, but I do not think today is that day,” he added.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 5:21pmSo glad that I am not the only one who knows about the Bath School Massacre (erroneously called the Bath School Disaster at wikipedia). Most of the dead were children under the age of 10. No guns involved. Just hatred. Of course, this massacre does not fit the MSM’s narrative, so it is always forgotten.

D a m n these psycho shooters and their misplaced animus.
Attention all would-be psycho shooters:
You’re thinking about doing an horrific act. You already know afterward there are 3 possible
outcomes:
[1] You’ll “off” yourself because you’re a coward
[2] You’ll get the lethal injection after receiving the death penalty
[3] You’ll rot in prison somewhere with a cellmate named Conan who turns you into his own personal pleasure toy
You already know the aftermath is going to be gruesome no matter what happens so why not
become a hero and instead of attacking an elementary school full of innocent children, turn
your venom on those who really deserve it —– the criminals, cowards, traitors and ingrates
who make up the Progressive National Caucus.

I would really like to share your sentiments, and I do to a degree.
However, when I think of this administration’s ‘sympathy’ the image of Bill Clinton at Ron Brown’s (?) funeral keeps coming to mind. You know the one…he was laughing until he saw the cameras that were trained on him, then he was wiping away tears.
But, since I, too, am a Christian, I am trying hard to give Carney (and Obama) the benefit of the doubt

That’s because now Obama has said that there will be ‘meaningful changes’…apparently it is ok to talk about gun control.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 2:28pmNo, the day of a mass shooting is never a good day to talk about gun control. Neither is the day when an NFL player shoots his girlfriend and himself. Neither is the day when a gunman kills six people and wounds a Congresswoman. Neither is a day far removed from the last mass shooting, but before the next one, because by then, everyone is, like, meh, gun control, what about it?
But since everyone, pro and con, seems to agree that we ought to talk about it, I hereby propose June 9 as National Everyone Let’s Talk about Gun Control Day. Why June 9? No particular reason, just a random day on the calendar, as good as any other.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 2:41pmWhy talk about “gun control”. Let’s have a day to talk about self-control. THAT is the real issue is it not? Guns have existed for centuries. Why is this an issue now? Perhaps it’s that humanity is getting more and more jacked up? Just a hypothesis you know. I mean we have a gazillion people running around on psychotropic meds. Mix that with booze and drugs. Mix that with a popular culture that glorifies violence. Mix that with a growing police state becoming ever more violent. Cops seem to routinely be pumping citizens full of lead. Mix that with a government that kills people as if it is going out of style. We extrajudicially kill our own citizens now. Our POTUS has authorized the bombing of 6 nations. The expansion of bombing into Pakistan has killed 178 children. Should this guy lecture us on “gun control”? Heck, should he lecture us on “self control”? Guns were no more responsible for killing those kids today than drones are for killing Pakistani kids. People pull triggers, people launch drones, people sign authorizations to kill people.
From the lowest cognizant American to the POTUS…we are immersed in violence and the disregard for life. I think negotiating with people who lead the world in killing about giving up my guns while society is decaying around me is complete madness.
Talk to yourself on June 9th.

I would only argue that to have a discussion about “self-control’ with those who believe in a collective (i.e. no “self”) would be a waste of time.
They are more interested in ‘mass’-control than ‘self’-control.

Alcohol was banned at one point then the ban was repealed because it did not work. The problem is not with the firearms it is with the morality- or lack of morality- being taught to children today. They never have to take responsibility for their own actions. Someone else is to blame- parents, friends, society, etc. Even the President never takes responsibility for his actions.

However, the bus crash comparison doesn’t work because of intent and use. I’m not for banning guns because they are protected by the constitution. However, it’s naive to not accept the fact that guns have one purpose: killing. Even the recreational use of guns in target practice is subliminally practice to aim and kill something. I think what needs to be done to stop these massacres is HEAVY psychiatric evaluation of anybody looking to purchase a firearm.

We are not the ones committing the crimes. Those that are intent on killing with a firearm, are not purchasing through legal means anyway. This kid was 20. In most states, you are supposed to be 21 to purchase a pistol. He had two pistols which were either purchased on the black market, or someone else purchased/ obtained for him. A psyche eval wound not have made a difference to him.
Cocaine, heroine, marijuana and other such drugs have been illegal for years. They are no longer able to be purchased or used in America, correct? So now how many people die in car accidents, about 32,885, next from smoking, •Over 443,000 Americans (over 18 percent of all deaths) die because of smoking each year. And so on why is there such a WAR on law abiding citizens that want to own a gun? We can put laws in place, but until someone actually breaks them and commits a crime, we can’t punish people preemptively. On top of that, many who are mentally deficient are not reported as being so, and sometimes even if they have run ins with police, nothing is done about it until too late.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 2:01pmYes, yes . . . they should be focused on the hot dog guy’s cart and the Fox News reporter who got a pimple popped. This coverage of a slaughtered kindergarten class is just hysteria.

Nobody said it had to equal the shooting. It’s just odd that whenever violence shows up from the left it never get’s reported.

Posted on December 14, 2012 at 2:37pmWe know what your pants are loaded with….Pant. The point is News Outlets should report the NEWS and TRUTHFULLY there should be no consideration on how the NEWS might effect their political party or ideology.
The amazing part is the liberal blindness all you democrats have.
Attack Fox as fake news …..while every other new orginization only lies, torques and distorts stories and there’s actual proof of it.
The you call Republicans fascist while democrats create fascist legislation and regulation daily to control all aspects of our lives
Call Republicans cronies when Democrats have lined the pockets of their biggest donors with tax dollars and are continuing to do this right now.
Call Republics war criminals for water board while Obama is drone civilian and terrorist alike
Claim Republicans are attack the first amendment for the patriot act OVER SEA WIRE TAPPING while Obama signed NDAA ALLOWING FOR U.S. CITIZEN TO BE HELD INDEFINANTLY WITHOUT EVERY BEING CHARGED= OH AND Increase in wiring tapping, increase in cell tracking
Then there this every time Democrats are in office innocent people are murdered by ATF agents and policies waco, rubie ridge, fast and furious all LIBERAL RUNNING THE DOJ.
in other words I have proof you have crap(pantload)
you pantloads are silent when these actions happen while your’s are in charge
