CNN Anchor Clashes With GOP Rep. on Gun Control: ‘He Shot Them, He Didn’t Stab Them…You & I Will Have This Exact Same Conversation at the Next Terrible Tragedy’

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien on Saturday had a fiery gun control debate with Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.) following the Connecticut elementary school massacre, charging that unless something is done, the two of them will be having “this exact same conversation at the next terrible tragedy.”
“There’s always a tragedy, we all run out and we cover it and people watch at home and they’re brokenhearted and then we all go on the next day or three weeks later as if, ‘Well, you know that’s done,’” O’Brien leveled. “I guarantee you the next school shooting we’ll be talking about gun control again and I would put money on it that between now and that next shooting, no one’s going to do anything…what has to change so people can’t get access to semi-automatic weapons and go into a school and shoot up a bunch of kids?”
Bono Mack said very little is known yet about the shooter and “we’re making a lot of assumptions that we really shouldn’t make yet.”
“We know the weapons he used,” O’Brien responded. “He had three weapons at least on him…he shot and killed people. He shot them, he didn’t stab them, he didn’t do a pipe bomb, he shot them. And I think this conversation at some point has to go back to, what is the normal amount of guns that people can own and how they’re registered and how they’re tracked, otherwise you and I will have this exact same conversation at the next terrible tragedy, we will and I think you know we will, right?
Bono Mack, who lost her re-election bid in November, said she prays that won’t be the case, but again cautioned that there are still many unanswered questions, including whether the shooter was using drugs or had sought mental health counseling.
“This guy seriously snapped. And the guns didn’t make him snap, he snapped and then sought out the guns,” Bono Mack said. “Whether they were his mother’s guns or whether they were somebody else’s, he was going to snap and do something horrific and heinous, unfortunately.”
“But we know he used guns and that’s how he killed 26 people, and then took his mother’s life and then took his own life. It was guns,” O’Brien said. “I think people are really sick of all the conversation around it and then we never actually do anything. Maybe in this nation people are just tired of that at some point.”

A total of five people, four female students and a teacher, were killed. Ten people, nine students and one teacher, were injured.
Johnson was released on August 11, 2005, on his 21st birthday due to federal gun crimes. Originally he was to only be held until he turned 18 years old. He spent less than 2 years in prison for each murder that he committed.
Golden was released on May 25, 2007, also his 21st birthday.Golden’s precise whereabouts were unknown until he applied for a concealed weapon permit in Arkansas on October 7, 2008, under the name he now uses, Drew Douglas Grant. His application was denied by the Arkansas State Police, who noted that Golden had lied on the application about his previous residences and claimed it would be illegal for Golden to own or possess a firearm. The assumed name that Golden was using had been unknown up until this point due to a gag order, but police were able to tie Andrew Golden to Grant through fingerprint records during the background check for the permit.

Even if you have a C&C permit, if you have business I side the school, you need to at minimum lock up your sidearm in the trunk of the car….more accurately, leave it at home. Incidents such as today’s shooting just illustrates how ridiculous that aspect of gun control really is. That policy certainly did not deter this shooter.
If you lefties achieved your perceived utopian state of absolute gun ban, the problem would still exist because only the criminals, police, and military would have guns. Do you really think that a criminally deranged violent criminal will turn in his gun? Are you that naive to say that a criminally deranged violent criminal will not be able to get a gun on the black market? Would it have made you feel better if this guy had used an explosive instead?
Now, imagine if every teacher and staff member had a weapon, even a small 22 caliber handgun. Maybe the number of casualties wouldn’t have been so high. Can’t depend upon the cops to arrive, assess, and act in time.

I still maintain that every ‘gun law’ passed since the second amendment is unconstitutional. Try explaining that to your typical lib/progressive though and you’ll get some hysterical response.

But the facts do not matter to them there stupidity blinds them to the facts, only ones that will follow the laws are the ones that would not do this horrible crime.
