Dominos Pizza Founder Tom Monaghan Sues Federal Government Over Obamacare, Contraception Mandates

(TheBlaze/AP) — The founder of Domino’s Pizza is suing the federal government over mandatory contraception coverage in the health care law.

Tom Monaghan, a devout Roman Catholic, says abortion and contraception aren’t health care but a “gravely immoral” practice.

He filed a lawsuit Friday in federal court. It also lists as a plaintiff Domino’s Farms, a Michigan office park complex that Monaghan owns.

Monaghan offers health insurance that excludes contraception and abortion for employees. The new federal law requires employers to offer insurance including contraception coverage, or risk heavy fines.

But Monaghan says the law violates his rights, pointing out that it is not his responsibility to pay for the sexual habits of his employees, and is asking a judge to strike down the mandate. There are similar lawsuits pending nationwide.

A message left Saturday for Monaghan’s attorney, Richard Thompson, was not immediately returned.

Monaghan is not the first pizza giant to speak out against the president’s health care overhaul. Aside from former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, Papa John’s founder John Schnatter said it was “common sense” that there would be cutbacks as the result of thousands of pages of new regulation (but later backtracked).

The government, meanwhile, says the contraception mandate benefits women.

Question. Why aren’t we hearing about any Muslim businesses suing? Is there a coverup to these stories? Why do we only hear about Christians suing?

In my 48 years on this planet, I’ve never felt free, well once, at a Rush concert, Moving Pictures tour. Mescalin probably had a lot to do with it. It was either the Boston Garden or Wocester Centrum. But I digress……we are not a free people’s and we are losing rights on a daily basis now. And as I reflect…..I remember the bicentennial, major event and lived in Hackettstown NJ at the time. It was a great experience for an 11 yo. I suspect the tricentennial will not take place.

Monaghan has it right.. why should he have or anyone have to pay for birth control and abortion to people who don’t want to be responsible for themselves! And why aren’t there tougher laws on rapists.. life without parole sounds great or even execution on repeat offenders.. Its time to stop murdering the unborn!

  Are those people advertising that they make $10k per month on the internet the people that you are talking about? While I do know people that make decent money on the internet (I make between $100 and $500 a month), it takes a lot of work and is not as easy as everybody advertising that says it is.

Well I fully agree with this his position on this – however they used Obama’s tag line when selling their product – I called them on it – and they basically did not deny it.

There are already two spam ads on here ten minutes after this article was posted. Obviously requiring one to be a registered user to post is not working.

The policy states:

Yet I continue to see multiple spam ads in every single article, and I continually report them. Perhaps the Blaze should take further steps to combat this problem!

Back around Thanksgiving there was an article titled, “6 ‘Naughty’ Companies That Are Allegedly ‘Christmas Unfriendly’. The posts suggested asking the management, employees who they supported in 2012. For America and the future or some socialist agenda…

This article is similar… Let them know that you support them and if not then you have the decision to purchase from that company or not.

I for one HAVE asked the question of their managers.
I for one HAVE stated that I will not support their financial bottom line.
I for one HAVE walked away and spent my monies elsewhere.

  Tom Monaghan may understand more than most .. he spent time growing up in an orphanage.
