Watch Matt Damon Say ‘You Know’ 16 Times in 2 Minutes in Tax Deal Discussion

Hollywood actor Matt Damon has never been shy about his political beliefs, vocally supporting Democrats and their policies for years.

Last week, the “Bourne” star appeared on the Tavis Smiley Show to discuss the looming “fiscal cliff” and tax hikes for families making over $250,000 (or as Obama refers to it, “millionaires and billionaires”).

In the interview, Damon reiterated that he should be paying more taxes, implying that Republicans are against tax increases because they don’t want to pay fair wages to police officers and firemen.

“I don’t drive by a fire house and see guys playing cards and begrudge the fact that my taxes pay them, because every once in a while, the bell goes off and those guys run into a burning building…you know?” he said.

The Daily Rushbo, likely familiar with Damon’s political beliefs, found another interesting aspect of the interview. Apparently Damon said “you know” a total of 16 times in just two minutes.

  When a self righteous guy like Damon speaks out about we should pay more taxes including him, the first thing I think of is let’s see your last couple of years tax returns. I would bet my next years salary he has taken as many deductions, used as many loopholes, and has a bevy of tax attorneys at his beckon call.   You know, he could always pay an extra 5-10% if, you know, he feels that strongly about it, you know.
  Just because he lives on easy street, you know, there are lots who can barely make it, you know, so, you know, why should he only give extra if billed for it, you know, he could just add the extra to his IRS check, you know, or stop taking all the squeezy deductions to lower his own taxes, you know?

I stopped paying box offices in 1990. And infrequently before then.
It never ceases to amaze me the pedestal that a hack writer can afford space upon for jugglers of influence. And they want intensely to influence you. It’s the actors only recourse when alone without a script. Their thoughts are not as Shakespearean as would be handy. Or as attractive as the bloom of cadence when without memorized prompts.

  When an actor has portrayed an intelligent person a few times he begins to believe that he himself is intelligent. As is painfully obvious on too may occasions only the screenwriter is intelligent, the actor is merely a delivery mechanism for another’s thoughts and words. The actors don’t get paid to think, only to pretend to think.
  
  As for paying more taxes, the whole point is for OTHER people to pay more taxes; the voluntary contribution option for federal tax payments has been a total failure for that very reason. In 2012 only $7.8 million has been voluntarily paid to help reduce the debt, that amount barely gets Barry and Michy’s luggage onto Air Force One for (yet) another vacation.

These hollywood actors make so much money higher taxes must not concern them. They are the rich and most don’t even pay their taxes now much less if the taxes are raised. Most of these Dem’s are the highest capital earners and pay no taxes. They are the first to run for tax loopholes.Everybody has an agenda. They all have guns too.

  One more point, Dora. Smiley asked him about Obama’s legacy relative to what’s important to Damon’s life. Damon goes off on a rant about firemen, police and roads. Firemen and police are a local concern funded by local taxes. Highway construction/maintenance is funded mostly by the taxes we pay at the pump. These things have nothing to do with the President. Well, you know, actors and you know people who make a lot of money, should you know just accept a small salary you know and send the rest of their negotiated earnings to you know the federal government to you know do what they want with it. You know, millionaires already have enough money to you know live like they want to so why not just give more, you know to the government for those poor people you know who go to the movies but can’t really afford it, just so you know the likes of Damon and others can get rich.

Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and many other Democrat millionaires can learn to pay now? Oh by the way Bill Gates, you will need to give up importing IT folks in coming here to take more jobs over?   It has been pointed out that many people are selling stocks now & taking the capital gains now at a lower rate then waiting until next year. Yes, they are avoiding taxes & many of them are Democrats.
  
  The are the same rich Democrat voters that bundle money for Democrat politicians that either don’t believe in dynamic scoring of tax cuts and or increases or refuse to admit it.
  
  I have to believe most of them are the latter. There are a few of the former. Probably the same type who believe the island of Guam would tip over if too any people stood on it.
