Hollywood star Jamie Foxx said the movie industry deserves some of the blame for people who go out and commit violent acts
Foxx, promoting Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming “Django Unchained,” an ultra-violent Western-style vengeance film about slavery, told the Associated Press that actors can’t ignore that the violence they portray onscreen can influence people in real life.
“We cannot turn our back and say that violence in films or anything that we do doesn’t have a sort of influence,” Foxx said Saturday. “It does.”
Foxx’s comments came in the wake of Friday’s mass elementary school shooting, where a gunman shot and killed 20 children and six adults before committing suicide.
But in an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” last week, Foxx joked about how “great” it was that he got to “kill all the white people” in the new film.
“Django Unchained, I play a slave,” he said. “How black is that? In the movie, I have to wear chains. How whack is that? But don’t be worried about it, because I get out [of] the chains, I save my wife, and I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that? And how black is that?”

Jamie proves in that statement: how the instrument – a firearm – was not the contributing factor to senseless acts of violence. It is Hollywood.

Dec. 16, 2012 at 12:36pmI would like to know why one race gets such attention for slavery when the Nazi had 10 million slaves. The Irish and Scotts were slaves the colonies long before African slaves. The whites were considered worthless, less than a penny a piece, and they were burned and tortured in public in the colonies. It was legal to kill white slaves. On the other Africans were worth 10 thousand more than that and slave colonies did not want to be out the money. It was later illegal to breed white slaves with blacks because it reduced the value of black slaves. If a plantation owner fell on hard times, the white slaves were killed and/or starved to death since there wasn’t a market for them. Their babies and children were starved and killed. The black slaves were sold for profit.
This is no longer taught in the schools. Why? Department of Education controlling the propaganda to the next generation. Revisionist history.

Dec. 16, 2012 at 2:57pmAs many will be quick to blame guns, the media is more culpable in this incomprehensible tragedy. The hatred and meanness spewed, but ignored by the mainstream media, by the Bill Mahers, the Bloombergs, the Alec Baldwins, the Chris Matthews, the David Lettermans, union thugs, hostile atheists, MSNBC, actors, movies, and video games, all have promoted a valueless and God-less society where everything is permissible except the Christian ideals that originally formed the basis for our country. When Christian symbols are desecrated, when Christians are humiliated, when children can’t mention God, have a Christmas party, or heaven forbid, show a cross in school, is Evil not far to follow? Many looking for an explanation only need to look in the mirror. We don’t need more laws, we need more values.

THANK YOU!!!! Finally someone know some history!!!!
@ PM STEVE – Uh, you need to qualify your statement about living black people being slaves. In this country, it is illegal. However, I would bet somewhere in this country tucked away in some corner, there are people in the human slavery market.
Be that as it may, I can tell you that there are slaves today in Mauritania, and other countries. Frequently, when there are civil wars going on in African nations, the civilians often become prisoners of war and are forced to work for whoever has got the upper hand. That includes taking boys as young as 7 and putting them in the “army” with guns.
So, you may want to qualify your remark to limit it to the U.S. or acknowledge there are people within our borders who are not necessarily black but may be enslaved by others.

Dec. 16, 2012 at 10:00amNO_MORE_OBAMA, those games and movies are not to blame. There are a few people out there who are just flat out evil, and they’re going to be set off by whatever stimulus exists. You can do away with every violent form of entertainment and they’ll still go on a rampage. It will just be triggered by something else. I think our problem here is trying to find fault in everything but the killers themselves. It’s tough for some to believe that others may just simply be bad people through no fault of anyone else.

Dec. 16, 2012 at 12:12pmI don’t agree with gun control or censorship…..all this does is take responsibility away from the parents to explain to them that it is just entertainment. And it also takes the responsibility away from the parents when a game like the Grand theft auto comes out to tell their children that it is vile and disgusting… Without evil you can not recognize good.
If you really want to point a finger at someone I think it should be the media. They hype up these stories, and turn the killer into a notorious figure, who’s name will be remembered for a very long time, if not forever.
So a disturbed child wants to off himself, and instead of just doing that in his bed room he thinks about how his life is worthless, and no one pays him any attention. If he goes out with a BANG he will be remembered and thought of….a household name….This I think is one of the biggest drivers for actions like this shooting….

Dec. 16, 2012 at 1:23pmIt never ceases to amaze me at all the conservative blowhards that blame video games for violence. I know you guys are old and don’t understand them, but blaming video games is no different than blaming the guns. Hell, it’s worse than blaming the guns actually. Nobody shot someone with a video game and killed them.
I know its difficult to understand, but far less people have ever killed someone with a video game than with a gun(actually that’d be 0% killing anyone with a video game.
But you know better I assume. Rambo movies are far more violent than 95%+ of video games in existence. Alien, Friday the 13th, Total Recall, Star Wars…all are more violent than the majority of games out there, and most of the ‘violent’ ones take place in fantasy realms that have no resemblance to real life.
But sure, blame games that depict characters flying around on jetpacks with grenade launchers who get run over by cars without dying. Those are so very realistic and cause children to simply go berserk! I mean…sure, there is no evidence of that happening at all, but when in doubt, blame that which you don’t understand!

It seems that the acceptable use of an inanimate object (a gun) is being taught and controlled by a liberal/progressive/globalist media. Would it not follow that we should ban those who make their money conditioning people that murder is entertainment and acceptable.

Dec. 16, 2012 at 8:35amAs much as I’d love to blame Hollywood for this mess of a massacre, only one person is to blame: the murderer. It’s natural to need to blame someone else, but sometimes crap just happens. Sometimes a deer darts in front of you on the highway on a rainy night and you cause a five car pile-up in which a toddler dies, and it isn’t Ford’s fault, it isn’t the department of transportation’s fault, it’s just one of those crappy things that happens. We don’t consider outlawing cars or interstates. We know it’s one of the risks we must put up with to have the benefit of travel that’s faster than a horse and wagon. An armed citizenry is the most important thing that keeps a country from sliding into dictatorship and we must resist the urge to blame anyone for this other than the murderer. Resist loudly and frequently. Instances like this are exactly what they will use to take our guns and then they can do anything.

We now have a virtually Godless society combined with the mentally insane, Hollywierd over-the-top violence (like Taratino and recent Stallone movies) and violent video games. The so-called Supreme Court also has to accept some responsibility for some of the absolutely idiotic rulings they have made that helped set up this disaster. Jamie Foxx is a racist twit who deserves no respect. How many “white people” will end up dying thanks to another extremely graphicly violent Tarantino movie? What are they trying to do start a race war?

Dec. 16, 2012 at 8:17amI agree with his message about the influence of Hollywood violence, but I’d sure like to see a little more consistency in his statements.

Dec. 16, 2012 at 8:24amJamie, the spirit of race hate and tribal war is no way to go through life. It is uninspiring “art.” Turn it upsidedown and you will maybe be able to heal the damage you have none in promoting race hate and violence. It is not something to be proud of. Most African Americans are Christians and do not beleive in hate and they heal with forgivness and it’s release; not tribal revenge and racist doctrines. We are all children of God. Our meaning is not skin deep and segregated human tribes.
