‘Islam or Death’: Jihadi Leader Reportedly Gives Christians a Dire Choice on Egyptian TV

Jewish News One (JN1) has a disturbing report about Ahmad Al Baghdadi Al Hassani, a supposed jihadi leader who has some less-than-favorable views about Christians. In a recent Egyptian television appearance, he purportedly dismissed believers as polytheists and supporters of Israel, noting that they must choose between “Islam or death.”

It is reported that Baghdadi Al Hassani lives in Syria and that he is supporting the opposition there. Because there are a limited number of Christians in the war-torn area, JN1 reports that the impact of his words may not reverberate. That said, the network notes that the comments showcase a “growing trend of anti-Christian sentiment in the Muslim world.”

AsiaNews.it corroborates these claims and has more about the religious leader’s statements and the way in which they will likely be processed in the region:

In an interview last December 13 on Egyptian television Al Baghdadia, the Shiite ayatollah Ahmad Al Hassani Al Baghdadi issued a fatwa against Christians in Iraq. Labeling them as “polytheists” and “friends of the Zionists”, the extremist leader stressed that they must choose “or Islam or death,” while “their women and girls may legitimately be regarded wives of Muslims.” Al Baghdadi is known for his “jihad” positions and for attacking Americans in the past during their presence in the country, and today he lives in Syria, supporting the armed opposition.

Catholic sources in the capital tell AsiaNews that it is “a very serious fatwa,” but “it is unlikely that people will be upset too much.” The government pays “attention” to these proclamations by extremists, however it is possible that such words could “create panic in some areas of the capital,” where there are now “very few” Christians.

This is one of the latest examples of purported extremist rhetoric to come from Middle Eastern faith leaders. The television interview can be found below (not in English):

Just thinking out loud here. Is this guy like Farrakhan is in the US? Has a lot of supporters, but in the grand scheme of things is really a small player? Or does this guy really pull some weight? If he is a big fish, then why again did we “liberate” Egypt, or are thinking about “liberating” Syria? To get rid of dictators who would kill their own people? And replace those monsters with who?   If the Muslim Brotherhood has anything to do about it (the enemy from within our own government) the US will become an Islamic Caliphate of the Western world. I love TheBlaze. It’s one of my primary news sources. But it’s getting to where I pretty much have to skip through the articles authored by Mr. Hallowell. There’s way too much political correctness and moral equivalence peeking through. An example in this article: How can something be “purported” if there’s video evidence? The word appears twice in this brief article. Leave out that word, and the article makes much more sense. Otherwise, it’s like scraping nails on a chalkboard.

  My wife is from Jakarta, Indonesia where it 90% muslime she says make the whole middle east glass. They will NEVER stop. And us American people need to wake up. To bad there is not accurate reporting coming back from there. I have personally witnessed having to sneak my niece in the back way into the christian school. Just left after the bombings of some of the churches and the bombing of their Nasdac. I say send some of them their and let them rant there. See how far they get!…lol

  From the short description of the Anti-Christ written in the Bible he kind of resembles what a Muslim would believe and how they act. He could be Muslim or some made-up variation of a muslim based religion. The world NWO types are trying to make up a new relligion called Chrislam.
