Why Does the Teamsters Union Appear to Be Flying Its Union Flag Above the U.S. One Outside the Group’s D.C. HQ?

A photo depicting what appears to be the Teamsters Union flag improperly flying above the American flag outside the union’s D.C. headquarters on Tuesday was sent to TheBlaze, and the story of how a Marine veteran who tried to bring it to the group’s attention was treated is sure to raise eyebrows.

The photo was taken by the Marine at approximately 2:10 pm ET and sent to TheBlaze by his brother. Both have requested anonymity for fear of retaliation by the union.

You can just make out the image of the horses and the star-like figure present in the union’s logo:

A quick view of Google Maps and the street view feature shows the building depicted in the photo above is, in fact, the group’s listed headquarters. The Google image shows the same flag poles:

The decision to fly the union flag above the U.S. one seems a clear violation the United States Flag Code. Section “c” of the code states:

(c) No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America, except during church services conducted by naval chaplains at sea, when the church pennant may be flown above the flag during church services for the personnel of the Navy. No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof: Provided, That nothing in this section shall make unlawful the continuance of the practice heretofore followed of displaying the flag of the United Nations in a position of superior prominence or honor, and other national flags in positions of equal prominence or honor, with that of the flag of the United States at the headquarters of the United Nations.

TheBlaze could not locate any exceptions made for when the U.S. flag has been ordered at half-staff, which has been the case since the Sandy Hooke school massacre.

But there’s more to the story. The veteran’s brother tells TheBlaze that the Marine did try to inform the union of the apparent flag code violation, but when he entered the Teamsters headquarters to alert them of the matter he was informed by a security guard that he had to leave the premises.

The Teamsters Union headquarters also happens to be approximately a block away from the U.S. Capitol.

TheBlaze contacted the group’s headquarters for comment and has not yet received a response.

Oh, I get it. They were ordered to lower the American flag to half mast because of the Ct shootings but the Union itself refuses to lower its own flag to half mast.

And Canada? Well, they are Canadians…… not subject to our rules.

  In case the Canada jab went over anyones’ heads, here’s what’s wrong with the pic:
  
  First, NO flag flies higher than the U.S. flag. Think about your normal flag outside of a school: U.S. flag on top, State flag underneath, then maybe a city or POW/MIA flag under that. That’s the way it’s supposed to look. By flying the union flag higher, the Teamsters are saying their loyalty is to their comunist union above even the nation. (But would anyone be surprised by that?)
  
  As to the Canada jab, it’s because again, the U.S. flag is not supposed to be flying lower than any other flag. That means that if the U.S. flag is ordered to half mast (or if you like, half staff), it is required that all other flags in the area also be lowered. That includes other nations’ flags and even those of hotels that have a corporate flag on a second or third pole, even if the second and third poles are shorter than the U.S. pole. The reason why is symbolic: by lowering the U.S. flag but not the ones of the hotel, city, state, etc, the flag not being lowered comes closer to being the prominent flag in the group, so their relative position should remain the same by lowering all of the flags to half mast.
  
  While the second is a simple mistake to make if you don’t know the difference, there’s absolutely no excuse for the Teamsters flying their flag above the U.S. flag.

  Before we jump to conclusions…Is it possible the teamsters flag was on a separate flagpole? The U.S. flag was lowered to half staff in honor of the Sandy Hook murders. It’s easy to twist reality by simply standing in a certain position when you take a photo.

The original pledge was written by Francis Bellamy (1855-1931) and was originally published by The Youth’s Companion, a Boston magazine.

The National Flag Conferences of the American Legion expanded the original wording in 1923 and 1924.

In 1942, Congress made the pledge part of its code for the use of the flag.

In 1954, it added the words “under God.”

  If the teamster flag is on the same line as Old Glory, then they did not half-staff the flag properly. The procedure calls for raising the flag full-staff THEN LOWERING it, which could not have been done with that rag above it.

It shows the uttermost contempt the union-boss places above the people of the Republic. He is an avowed Socialist, who demands the Republic perish and a new system of governance be imposed, and the faster the better.

This is a message to the world, and to Obama, the nation means nothing to them. Freedom means nothing to them, and they want Obama to work all that much faster and harder upon his fundamental transformation of the United States.

The pressure is ratcheting up day by day, and probably will blow all too soon.

America stands for everyone having a voice, every vote counting, every person an individual.

Unions stand for unions having a voice, every due accounted, and every person a slave.

Why would they fly anything above the flag that represents their loyalty to the idea that some animals are more equal than others?

  Awwww, come on!!!! You’re not a slave when someone else is bargaining for you, just ask the master I mean Unions. They will tell you, you’re a Slave when you negotiate your own contract as an individual, and get what you want and are paid what your worth; you need to be like everyone else. You’re not capable of negotiating your own contract (right to work) you need someone else to do that for you, because there smarter than you, even though you may get a better deal negotiating your own contract, they cannot let you do that, there still smarter than you.
