Google Maps Captures Drone Landing at Air Force Base
Satellite mapping services, like those run by Google and Bing, have been known to capture everything from grid-like images in China’s desert to the potential training site for SEAL Team 6 to a top-secret U.S. landing strip in Yucca Lake, Nev.
It looks like Google Maps might have caught another drone image from Creech Air Force Base in Nevada, but this time it’s showing the UAV in motion.

The image found by James Bridle shows a drone landing and even includes the shadow it’s casting on the ground below as well.

Buzzfeed pointed out that Bridle has had an interest in U.S. drone use. He maintains the Tumblr site “Dronestagram,” which curates “drones-eye-view” images of areas where drone strikes have occurred based on reports like those from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 6:17pmLooks like there is a rabbit eating some foliage at 3 o’clock about 24 feet 9.124 inches from the knob like blob. There are approximately 2 dozen rabbit poops scattered behind him and a few ants are carrying off several of them to their ant hill behind the 4th plant from the earthen object that looks like a faucet.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 6:03pmLooks more like a take-off. If it were a landing it’s already used up most of the runway and is still a good way from the ground.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 5:59pmThat drone looks to be configured for high altitude deployment, sort of a miniature U-2 with the same long straight wings.
