Having a Tough Day? This Viral Photo of a Dog & Horse Who Are Best Friends Will Fix That
Duder, a lab and pit bull mix, and Mac, an Arab horse, are quite the duo. They are also best buds who have been inseparable since they first met — when Duder was just 8 weeks old.
The heartwarming photo above was posted by Reddit user red_fog on Tuesday and it has since gone viral.
“Of course he was a bit curious and skeptical of Mac, but Duder just kept his distance and stayed near my mom and I in the pasture. Over time Duder got a little brave and would nip at Mac’s heels and try to chase him. Mac is 23-years-old and just didn’t really pay him much attention,” red_fog wrote.
Red_fog went on: “They usually play by running in circles…We have a giant horse ball that Mac picks up and Duder will try to steal it, but the ball only has one handle so Duder gets left trying to bite a basketball made of hard plastic.”
The photo was reportedly taken by red_fog’s mom, who wanted to spread some holiday cheer to others. And it did just that.
“When I see photos like this, it takes my stress away and warms my heart. Thank you,” Reddit user AnimalLover1 commented.
“This is just sooo cute,” another Reddit user joke_master added.
Reddit user choufee, said the photo provided much needed break from “tragic and sad stuff.”
“Especially during awful times when the entirety of social media is abuzz with tragic and sad stuff, we all need pictures like this to remind us of love. Positivity is also contagious and we need to remember that,” user choufee wrote.

Posted on December 20, 2012 at 11:41amWhen ever I am having a bad day or feel a bit down, I go to one of the sites with animal pictures like dogshaming.com or Ilovemyvst.com. or one of the cheezeburger sites. It always cheers me up quickly and cheaply and without getting addicted to alcohol or drugs or food (well, ok, I am addicted to chocolate. And it always perks me up too.)

Posted on December 20, 2012 at 12:41pmI got a baby goat once and she ran with the horses and thought she WAS a horse. It was really cute and I loved watching them. She did and went everywhere the horses went and they accepted her.

Posted on December 20, 2012 at 11:29amIn the future we humans will learn that animals are a lot smarter than we give them credit.
I also believe they have extra senses that we humans do not have.
- barking when the ownwr is a mile away on their way home.
- getting out of earthquake areas hours before the event
- Seeing spirits – that we can not – I have a sory about my new 8 week old puppy looking up barking , **** standing up – jumping out of my hands and running into the next room looking up in the corner. By the way the house was build by a sea captain in the 1600′s – my daughter was complaining her blankets were being pulled off at night

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 10:14pmYears ago I lived out in a remote area where there were horses running loose. We adopted a stray dog that had been living in the area as well and would come and steal our dogs food. He would be placed in the kennel each night with our other dogs and in the morning one of the horses would come to the fence next to the kennel and drop big sticks on the ground. The dog would bark until I came out and let him out and the two of them would play all day running and playing tug of war. The horse and dog loved each other.

Posted on December 19, 2012 at 10:08pmWe used to think that our dogs were harassing our horse, until we saw him trying to get them to chase him… He kept on coming back and taking off again, until they chased him. Then, it was a wild romp. He really enjoys it.
