State Dept. Security Chief and 2 Others Resign After Benghazi Report

The State Department security chief and two others resigned Wednesday following an independent report that blamed “systematic failures” in management for “grossly inadequate” security to respond to the deadly Benghazi, Libya attacks, the Associated Press reported.

An administration official told the AP that Eric Boswell, assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, and Charlene Lamb, deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, both stepped down under pressure after the report’s release. The third official worked for the Bureau of Near East Affairs but was not immediately named.

  I will do you one better. I ACTUALLY watched the hearings. In them it was iterated time and time again that the budget cuts had NO IMPACT on the decisions not to increase security personell in Bengazi. IMHO the decision was based soley on the desire to continue the misbegotten fantasy of the administration that there is no terrorist problem in Egypt. If there is not, there is no need for additional security.

  I wonder, do you and Keaton have the fortitude to admit to those facts and revise your statements concerning Paul Ryan?
  His statements in the Congressional hearing were dead on. The decisions to not grant the requests for additional security personnel were political not bugetary (as the false narrative by Dems and much of the media suggest), and those decisions (at whatever level they were made) very well may have cost the life of our ambassador, or at least were a contributing factor. Those involved in making that decision should hold themselves responsible for what happened in Bengazi, and should have the personal fortitude to admit it and not hide behind political rehtoric, and claims of national security.
  
  AND in regards to the president and secretary of state, I do not know their involvement, but I do know this. As a former Marine platoon sergent, and now manager. if the folks the folks in my crew mess up, I stand at the front of the line, and have on many occasion. I do not let them take the heat. I take it for them. Their acts unless in direct defiance of my orders are my responsiblity. That is what REAL leaders do.

It didn’t say they were due to budget shortfalls did it? In fact our European missions were funded just fine…it just happened to be this Libyan one coincidence of coincidences…..

  OH Canada (sorry needed to lighten up a bit). Originally (notice orignally it is very important) the majority of the world was wrong on Iraq, not just Bush (hmmm maybe just a little bit like the supposed video causing the assault on the embasy). I have to admit I was drinking that kool-aide myself, and I slowly wizened up. This could not have been more true with his actions and turning his back on his beliefs with all of the bailouts.
  I do however have to point out a couple of minor details that everyone forgets in regards to the whole Iraq thing. Regardless of the existence or lack thereof of WMDs. After the first gulf war we had a treaty with Iraq. They broke that treaty the minute they launched SAMs at our fighters (remember all the stories about that before the attention turned to WMDs). That was an act of war. Also Saddam did everything he could to make it seem as if he had WMDs. He basically walked on to the playground; punched the biggest kid right square in the nose and expected to walk off unharmed. He wanted to show all of his buddies he was tough. AINT HAPPENING. He got his **** handed to him because he put it on a platter and asked for it back. I know the results were horrible (thousands dead). War is a beastly thing no matter how you slice it. What you have to ask is would the outcome have been better had we done nothing. Would Saddam have stopped attacking his own people. Would less have been dead. I suggest posing that question to Assad.

  Sorry could not get all in one post.
  Remember as the original offensive in Iraq was drawing to a close we found mass graves filled with bodies. We found out about the horrible rape rooms that Saddam and his sedistic son had. The people of Iraq were singing our praise as liberators. The Kurds no longer feared being gassed. The army of Iraq was no more. I contend that the moment Saddam was drug out of his hidee hole THAT war was over. The real problem came afterward when every Jihad Johnny from Pakistan to Libia decided to come create a second war. Bush did not have the foresight to see this, and he should be held to account (and is by me). The generals rushed past the munitions dumps (bad mistake), but hindsight is always 20-20.
  And sorry Canada, but a quip back to you. Should Clinton have done nothing in Kosovo? I have colleges that lived there the folks killed in that war have never been reported accurately (and are never bemoaned by the left), and the fighting went on long after we left (heck they just got independence like a year ago).
  We can go back and back and back to mistake after mistake by president beyond president (sort of like an Isreali and a Pakistani heck how far back does THAT go). The acts and decisions of each person must be help up for them and them alone. The current administration has plenty to answer for without going back to old regimes.

  FREEDBYTRUTH…we knew al zarquawi was in northern Iraq with the Kurds in 2002. Saddam played a game of convenience with different militant groups, jihadi, nationalist and ethnic. Some he’d attack, some he’d tolerate because he could exploit them for his own interests. al Zarquawi went on to create al Qaeda in Iraq. Being wahaabist al Qaeda knew it could exploit the tensions between sunnis and shias in Iraq. Most of the civilian casualties there have been from their inter-fighting.
  I agree..the Bush administration did not account for the sectarian violence that al Qaeda exploited in Iraq, it merely saw the conventional military angle. Any student of military history in that region would tell you that it was a huge error on Bush administration’s part. However, Petraeus seems to have fixed the large part of it and we now have a cooperative player in the region..albiet one that plays footsies with Iran when it needs to. Strategically this is a must for us, we now have a flyover zone to hit Iran which everyone in the region with any semblance of credibility wants gone from the picture. This is why Syria and Iran remained silent when Saddam was begging the muslim world for help. They were scared and couldn’t believe the Americans actually did it..and they wanted to see the outcome.

  The American people aren’t stupid; but, our representatives in the House and Senate are playing games like we are. When they had Petraeus in front of them, why wasn’t Petraeus asked if he was running guns to Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood elements in Syria? If he admitted to that treason, who ordered him to do so?
  
  We’re talking about not “just” RPG’s and automatic weapons going to Syria, we’re in very real danger of some of Gadhafi’s 20,000 shoulder-fired, anti-aircraft missiles getting transshipped to the USA.
  
  If “somebody” wanted to see this nation brought to a halt, shoot down a half dozen airliners one morning and see this nation grind to a halt. The crazy thing is that the administration has admitted to these shipments in a story that ran in the NY Times just recently.

  Gen. Patraeus wasn’t asked those questions (in my opinion) because those are in the classified brief so they can’t talk about them under oath. I would bet that the limited number of Senators and Congressman that were briefed had to sign the disclosure agreement that prevents them from speaking on it or referring to it, so they won’t. But I’ll bet it’s there. I’ll bet Stephens and the Turkey Ambassador were up to their eyeballs in negotiating with our enemies the Muslim Brotherhood and the Jihadist Taliban in Libya with purchasing heavy weapons, the overthrow of one dictator in Libya to swap out for a Muslim Brotherhood Sharia law dictator. Just wait, possibly even a few years or less and Egypt’s Morsi is going to make Adolf Hitler look like a boy scout. Some people say “write letters to your States Senators and Congressmen” so they can address the issues. RIGHT. The very same ones that don’t live by the laws they make US live by.
Only Politicians create problems and then Campaign against those very problems. And now comes ObamaScare. More money deducted from our living expenses. More rights taken away from US Sheep.
None of US will have to worry about who will or who won’t be running in the 2016 Election. There won’t be anything left of this Kountry to “take back” by that time. Don’t grow old and sick because you will be sent home to take a pill and die.

  If we had a single backbone in the Republican party they would have been. What we have is Democrat and the subservsive democrat parties. 2016 we need to end the RINO party all togther. Don’t even run a RINO OR GOP’ER. Conservatives need to back a third party with all their support.

Just because WMD’s were not FOUND in Iraq does not lead to the conclusion that “intelligence” lied. When are people going to wake up?
This was a hit on a US Diplomat by a US President.
He needed to be silenced because of his knowledge of US Gun running to the enemy.

And why have we not heard from the survivors or their families?
How much “HUSH MONEY” are they being paid by this administration?
Or worse yet, maybe death threats.

IMPEACH Obama, then try and convict Him, HIllary and Holder! And anyone else involved.

Where is the media….. Doesn’t anyone want to be the winner of the Pulitzer prize for journalism for blowing the cover off Obama?

  CAVALLO – Yes, you’re right and I have been saying the same thing over and over. People just do not want to believe how hopeless it is about getting rid of them. I still see this call for impeachment.
  They all made sure all of the “bases were covered” starting decades ago – in order to get all of their treasonous ppl in positions that would help them activate and further their agenda of taking us down – their co-conspirators are in all of the needed places – judges, DOJ, Congress, etc. They are free to do any evil, unconstitutional, treasonous acts they want b/c there is no way anyone will actually prosecute (and win).
  
  So it’s ALL Kabuki (like Issa, F & F and Benghazi, etc.) and everyone is “in on it” one way or the other – including Repubs. They are either complicit, threatened, compromised. This is a global attempt w/help from other Commies, Muslims that hate us.
  Truth be known, we were “taken over” with the Obama win in 2008. We have been “invaded” for decades, slowly making their “inroads”/battles won. They are now free to do whatever they want, have finally succeeded to rig elections via massive voter fraud/new corrupt perfected software in themachines to flip votes, along w/their regular fraud – of which few are interested in believing and fixing.   I do know that some villages were relocated to new areas or combined with other villages, where they were surrounded by fences & such to keep the Viet Cong out to prevent propaganda, Viet Cong assassinations of village headmen. This strategy had worked in Malaysia in the 1950s. there were difference though. in South Vietnam there was porous borders that were not present in Malaysia.
  
  If that was not what you were talking about, then ya Calley was the one they scapegoated. He was the one “caught”.
  
  For anyone else that is reading, Vietnam was more than a civil war & other facts
  1. The Chinese stationed 300,000 troops in North Vietnam, thereby allowing North Vietnam to dispatch 300,000 troops to South Vietnam.
  2. We had the Phoenix program. The Viet Cong killed one heII of a lot of mayors, village head en etc. Maybe we should compare the casualty count.

  remember…right after Bengahzi…there was a report that Bill Clinton had hired a “team of lawyers” to make sure that Hillary had ZERO blame for Bengahzi and the 4 murders…
  
  Why would Bill do that unless Hillary a) didn’t do her job and simply watched members of the State Dept be murdered b) was watching and tried to do something but was overridden by her superior c) already knew what was going to happen and had been ordered to ignore the event?
  
  With a) she would be guilty of negligent homicide and dereliction of duty/violating her oath of office, either would get her convicted and jailed.
  
  With b) and c) she would be found to be a coward for not speaking up immediately but not criminally liable because her boss had ordered her to do something and she is bound to follow and execute his wishes…granted she is also bound by her oath of office but violating that simply gets her hauled before Congress and fired…but she is already resigning, so she doesn’t care.
  
  I really do not see any other option for Bill to get a team of lawyers together to make sure that his wifey was “clean” on the Bengahzi matter….which means Bill and Hill have Obama over a barrel right now and Hill is going to use it to put herself in the WH in 2016.

  The report stated that no disciplinary action would be taken. They are resigning of their own free will, though, albeit under a great deal of pressure. Since they are resigning and not being fired they were most likely offered a severance package and early pension. That is pretty standard for government employees working on that level.
