Chris Christie on 2016 Presidential Run: ‘If It Comes…I Will Be More Ready’ Than I Was in 2012

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie made it clear that 2012 wasn’t the right year for him to make a run for the American presidency. But with the dust now settled following President Barack Obama’s re-election win and with eyes beginning to set on 2016, it seems the Republican leader has a more positive take on a potential future candidacy.

In an interview with Steve Adubato, host of “Conversations at NJPAC,” Christie talked about his potential rise to the national stage. In addition to speaking about personal preparedness, he also gave his take on the crisis facing the Republican Party.

“I wasn’t ready to run for president this time,” the governor told Adubato.

While he made no definitive statements about the next presidential race, Christie did note that he would be more prepared for the opportunity should it inevitably arise.

“If it comes, I know that I will be more ready for it than I would have been this year,” he told the host.

But Christie’s own career wasn’t the only subject on the table. Larger issues like the Republican Party’s future and preventing gun violence were also discussed. As for the GOP’s current status, Christie shared a perspective that many on both sides of the aisle have embraced — the notion that the movement’s messaging isn’t resonating with the American populace.

“We lost two national elections in a row,” he admitted. “We’re not connecting with Americans on the issues that matter most to them. We haven’t had the best candidates.”

This comment is curious, of course, because Christie supported Romney. The governor did, however, say that the Republican, who lost to Obama in November, “is a good man,” but he reiterated that “he simply didn’t connect with Americans.”

Christie also defended his praise of the president in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, essentially calling his comments a non-controversy.

Just another run of the mill politician. The same type who got us into this mess to begin with. I am so tired of the standard we’ve set for ourselves. Mediocre, middle road, what’s in it for me, hustlers. It’s over folks. Someone said if A. Lincoln were running for office today he wouldn’t make the initial cut. I believe that. How can anyone with high morals win against a population who’s majority has none? What’s that saying, ” It ain’t over til the fat lady sings.” ? Well dress him in a pettycoat can call him Ertha Kit !

Christy thinks he has the Conservative base all sowed up and is not looking for support from the liberal base……He’s a politiciannothing more nothing less his only claim to fame is actually making strong statement on issues instead of sticking his finger in the wind first to see which way it was blowing.

Dude, the GOP screwed over the GOP.
What you’re going to see is a rise of the moderates in the GOP because they know that’s their only chance to win another election on the national stage. Of course that’s going to make all the Blazer’s mad as hell and break off in a bunch of splintered attempts to form a 3rd Party. With little organization or money to speak of, it’s only effect will be to siphon off votes from the mainstream GOP, causing them to lose again.
I like what I’m seeing and I’m sure Glenn does too, it gives him a new lease on life to sell his medicine show to the rubes.

Wrong Simple. I know you need to continue to try and feed your narrative (or rather, the one that was given to you to uphold by your intellectual superiors). Fact is, the GOP lost because most of the Tea Party sat out or voted third party. The moderates are the *problem*, not the solution.

I don’t expect you to know, care or understand. I just wanted a counter to your cult dogma on the thread. Good day.

Ghost – it’s not my narrative, it’s what’s factually happening in the GOP. Your own statement; that a lot of Tea Party types sat out or voted third party, is just recapitulating the point I made – a fractured party is why you lost and will be the reason it will continue to lose.

So if I say it, I’m promoting my side’s ‘narrative’, but if you say it it’s an explanation of why you lost?

Wow, I guess you told me.

The first thing ANY Republican has to do in order to win an election is to figure out
    HOW TO FIX AN ELECTION.

ok…we start with the billy clubs in front of the election polls
then…you have to “fix” the computers
    then…”buy” the minority votes
then…”promise” free stuff to people (you won’t have to deliver the free stuff – just “promise” it
and….”promise” the illegals that they can stay in the USA
then…”violate” the laws in the Constitution (that is, IF there are any left)
    and
YOU WILL WIN THE ELECTION !!!

Christy has kicked off his gubernatorial re-election bid, by jumping into bed with obama’s union thugs – between this, and his bizarre love/lust of obama, can there be any doubt that Christie is a nonstarter for 2016? Christie is a liberal opportunist and certainly not Republican presidential material. How long will it be before Christie switches parties?

The pathetic response from FEMA is likely worse than its response to Katrina. They have not learned from their experience. They had substantially more time to prepare and substantially more logistically accessible resources- but they failed- despite the Chosen One issuing an edict that it be handled. Typical of someone who has never worked a real job in his life- Just like the voters he represents… Obama doesn’t understand that you have to WORK if you want results.
